100 Things I have Learned as a Mom Blogger

1) everyone has a price..just don’t make that price free

2) Boston is cold. Chicago is cold. Washington DC is cold. North Carolina is cold. Cant we start going somewhere warm for conferences? Thank you.

3) 125 banners on sidebars are actually kinda annoying

4) don’t get used to, or hung up on, your page rank

5) everyone you know reads your blog..even if you think they don’t

6) your hair becomes a life of its own

7) twitter is completely and utterly a waste of a good day

8 ) strangers can quickly become best friends

9) communities have to be nurtured

10) no matter how much you try, try, try, sometimes, you will never be accepted

11) there will always be one more thing to do

12) LLC everything

13) you can, indeed, make $50 a day from your blog

14) stats are pointless

15) people think that anonymous is actually anonymous

16) no one cares if you can’t dance or sing

17) your time is valuable

18) Internet fame does not come without a price

19) everyone uses the same template, same graphics, and same regurgitated content at some point. the difference is actually you.

20) you will never, ever, ever be Dooce

21) if you blog about a company, they will call you

22) products are easy to come by

23) someones tragedy can be  anothers sounding point

24) never compare yourself to anyone

25) perspective is personal

26) your problems in life are usually not as bad as they may feel

27) always hire a mom; they are brilliant

28 ) there is nothing better then a handmade product

29) your child gorgeous

30) everyone has an agenda

31) many women worry about what they look like

32) kids are genuinely funny

33) its OK to say what you mean and mean what you say, even if its not popular

34) not everyone will like you

37) logitech has webcams easy enough for a 5 year old

38 ) there are 500 MEMES- and no one cares about any of them

39) people who say they blog for themselves are liars

40) a comment makes you feel like Christmas

41) jealousy is an epidemic amongst women

42) people use computers as a shield

43) your life is actually really boring- but so is everyone elses

44) its easy to feel left out

45) its easy to make someone feel left out

46) it only takes a second to change someones day- or life

47) there are a lot of social networking sites

48 ) standing out in a crowd takes 15 hours a day

49) even the most “professional” person gossips

50) asking someone to tweet, vote, or blog about you daily is a turn off and makes you feel taken advantage of

51) if your family is the reason you blog, don’t forget your family

52) you can be a mom blogger and not be a mom

53) women are inherently b*tches

54) full RSS feeds ensures that no one comments

55) giveaway traffic is not a conversation with your readers

56) God is used as an excuse a lot to be an asshole

57) its easy to own 30 domain names and only one site

58 ) not everyone has the courage to be who they really are

59) IM is a modern age telephone

60) your reputation proceeds you – even if it has holes

61) walking away is actually very simple

62) text has no compassion, therefore everything you say will be take out of context..italics or not

63) men are the most nonjudgmental visitors

64) a blog is only 1% who you are

65) you can spend the entire day without TV and not realize it

66) Coke vs Pepsi is alive and well

67) Dyson is hands down the best blog review on the planet

68 ) you can be friends with someone for 5 years and a blog post will come between you

69) trips with strangers are the best trips of all

70) 30 is not that old (and neither is 37)

71) you feel guilty if you skip blogging for a day

72) its very easy to take on more then you can handle

73) its ok to say no, even to a friend, and mean it

74) Dooce will never, ever, ever comment on your blog

75) working with companies does not make you cool

76) no one else can dance or sing either

78 ) people will always find something to complain about

79) no one actually reads you, they just skim

80) criticism brings the most comments

81) everyone has an experience that can change your opinion

82) your importance to companies is directly proportional to the number of unpaid press releases you post

83) mainstream media is about as reliable as a blog post

84) disclosure means admitting your opinion is biased even if you won’t admit it

85) a snack cake really does make people happy

86) the most famous bloggers in the mom blog community are actually men

87) people type in some weird crap on google..and find you

88 ) you shouldn’t blog everything

89) the world does not revolve around you, no matter how much you ask people to let it.

90) playing the “game” is highly overrated

91) blog trips are only glamorous when you are new

92) learning HTML code is the smartest thing you will do for yourself

93) always be reliable

94) its important to let people know they are appreciated

95) a 30 second video can take 4 hours to put together

96) let me repeat again, stats are pointless

97) don’t trash talk your family online..situations are temporary but hurtful words can last a lifetime

98 ) just because people can blog, doesn’t mean they can hold a conversation

99) prayers are powerful

100) free products are never free
