I read everyone of these books to my teenage kids. It was something that we have truly enjoyed together. I would love to have my own set of these books to someday read to my grandkids.

  2. I liked the activities on the Harry Potter website.

  3. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=98706624&blogID=440708644

Here’s my blog, and I love AND ADORE harry potter and this website for hosting such a wonderful giveaway! Thanks for everything! I love harry potter!

  4. I am about to DIE for them to announce the winner!!!

  5. i really want there to be bloopers on the harry potter dvds. it’s just good fun to watch those and they should include them!!

  6. I finally saw Decemeber boys with daniel radcliffe (aka harry potter). great movie and dan really is an awesome actor. i think people need to see him in other things to really understand that….you just get used to harry potter, you can’t see him growing up and becoming a better actor as time goes on.

  7. like how it’s separated by years and extras for each year

  8. Summer canNOT come fast enough. I need the sixth film NOWWW

  9. It’s really sad that the first guy who played dumbledore passed away…he was THE perfect guy for the part. the new one is okay, and it’s cool he’s trying his own thing…but he seems too extreme and harsh…wayyy different then the dumbledore you NORMALLY see in the books.

  10. I’m glad the last book is being seperated into two movies. It’s just too long, with too much stuff to be on film.

  11. I wish if Luna didn’t get together with harry, that her and Neville would have. they are both kind of outcasts…moreso then any of the others and i think they would be cute and understand each other a ton as well.

  12. Peter Gioia says:

I told my daughter, when she complained about her name, that if had started reading the HP series sooner; her name would be Hermione.

  13. We would love to win, have been avid harry potter fans for awhile. we have all the movies and used copies of the books

  14. Peggy Gorman says:

Great set ,we love reading the Harry Potter book then see the movie. Every age will enjoy both because I know I have. This set would be wonderful to hand down to the next generation.Count me in to win so I can read to my grandchildren

  15. I always liked that each book/movie was written for the age harry was at the time. Each story was a little dark and for a reader who is a bit more mature

  16. I did not know that The Tales of Beedle the Bard is coming out

  17. Leanne Marsh says:

I have been in love with everything harry potter since its first release. Now I have been honored to host my second harry potter book release at my walmart store. We had a huge turnout with the last one I did, and I am glad I get to do it again with the december 4th release of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. The nice thing that we do for the kids (…and teens…and adults), is give them something special to remember each book release day. Last time we did a costume contest, and gave the young boy who one (whom looked EXACTLY like a young harry potter) a free copy of the book. He was thrilled! And so were we to see his face expressions. We also gave away some memorablilia to another (adult) fan. So in closing, (for now) it would be nice to win the grand prize to give away and make another childs day. It is more rewarding than anything I’ve ever done.

  18. When these first came out-there was such an uproar. I read the first one, and was hooked. The best thing was actually having to argue with my son over who would get to read them first as they were released in print!! As rare as it isfor me to pay to see movies in the thaeter-I have seen ech of these as they came out, and have purchesed them as soon as I could. I am eager to see what JK comes up with next, now that Harry is all grown up!

  19. cl whipple says:

I would love to reread all the books in the series before I read the last. Thanks!

  20. Charlotte Winters says:

My son and his special ed classroom would love to have these books. Thanks for the contest.

  21. sara miller says:

I would love to win this.

  22. Greg Haller says:

I’m a fantasy fanatic, and every book I read, I compare to Lord of the Rings. Few, and there have only been a few, have met that criteria. Harry Potter, although aimed at younger readers, was such a thrill. I rate that up there with Wheels of time, Lord of the Rings, and George R. R. Martins triology. It’d be great to win it.

  23. Patricia Wise says:

I have enjoyed watching Harry and friends grow up before our eyes. Wish that her novels didn’t end with the 7th. Would like to see what all Harry’s children turn out to be and the adventures they would encounter.

  24. karen adams says:

I got hooked on Potter because of my kids. I will blog about the contest.

  25. Karen Benson says:

I have enjoyed the entire series. Can’t wait for the next movie!

  26. It’s cool that you can send an owl post e-card from Scholastic’s site!

  27. i love that harry potter spans all generations. younger kids, teens/young adults, adults/parents, grandparents…and people from all over the world…read the books! it’s great.

  28. I think it’s amazing how many websites have been made for Harry Potter! It’s great. when you love something, you almost always want to share that with others and talk to people who feel the same. :)

they put a lot of work into it and it’s amazing. my favorite is probably the leaky cauldron. definitely a good site for info, etc.

  29. I remember seeing the first film like it was yesterday! i went with my sister and parents and my mom was talking…once i saw the sign Privet Drive, i had to shush her, b/c i KNEW it was starting and obviously, having not read the books herself, she didn’t. haha

  30. My sister didn’t like the books before she saw the movie (she hadn’t even read them!) but she saw the first film and really liked it, i guess, so she started reading and is now hooked like me. People just need to give them a shot!!

  31. I can’t wait for the rest of the Movies!

  32. I almost knit myself a pair of socks like Dobby’s.

  33. I’d love to be able to go to school in a Castle!

  34. I’d love to be able to apparate! and I’d REALLY like a clock like Mrs Weasly!

  35. I really wish that the series hadn’t ended. I miss it already.

  36. I blogged about the contest!

  37. I learned that J K Rawling is coming out with a new book. I hope she does another series!

  38. I actually went as Hermione for halloween one year. it was fun. i had to wear black pants though, b/c i couldn’t find a skirt that fit…

  39. Ron is crazy and rash, but he does always do what is right and is a good friend…i believe that.
i love his character though. he’s quite amusing.

  40. Harry Potter is a symbol of my generation. I’m happy I lived and am living through it.

  41. Is Blaise Zabini a boy or girl? I can’t remember if it was ever cleared up..and in fan fiction, people make it both…but most of the time they say he’s a boy. I think he’s a boy too, but it’s just kind of amusing that nobody really knew.

  42. I loved in the fourth film…how at the Yule Ball, they had the weird sisters. the songs are such fun and it makes it seem more like a real dance!!

  43. I would love to see the cast of Harry Potter reunite after all the films are over and they are older….like when I’m older, since i’m around the age of a lot of the main actors/actresses.
It would be so cool to see them and how they are doing!

  44. I really want to see all the films that the Harry Potter actors have been in…besides HP of course…and i know that’s a ton, so it’s really just the main kids.

I’ve seen My Boy Jack with Dan Radcliffe…and I’ve seen another film with him in it, but I’m blanking on the title…

I’ve seen the borrowers and anna and the king with Tom felton (draco malfoy)

now i just need to see driving lessons and even thunderpants with rupert grint, and emma watson in ballet shoes. I will though!

  45. I remember, for awhile, my sister and i would hang out and we’d always find ourselves going back to the topic of harry potter. it was just good fun to talk about and debate, since all the books weren’t out at the time.

  46. I have this harry potter notebook and I used to tape movie photos, interviews, etc. inside it to keep as a scrapbook. i stopped doing it around the second film…but i still have them! good memories.

  47. Harry Potter has pretty much been my life for a long time. Not so much in the last couple years, though I was still stoked about the books and am now still stoked about the movies.

  48. Oh, well… I’d just been thinking… if you had died, you’d have been welcome to share my toilet.

    Moaning Myrtle
    Chamber of Secrets

  49. LAUREN ~ If you go to mugglenet they have recipes for all sorts of fun stuff like treacle tart and butterbeer. We made the butterbeer and it was VERY sweet, but with some tweaking I think it would be super yummy!!!!

  50. The midnight parties are always very kiddish, but the teens and older fans still have a ton of fun. I’ll always have those memories!

  51. I wish butterbeer was real or they made it and it was awesome, b/c the books make it sound sooo delicious.
it’s fun to eat “bertie bott’s every flavor beans” though.

  52. It’s really sad that the book series is over, but i’m so glad i lived through it. it won’t be the same experience for people in the future that have the whole set of books/movies at their disposal.

  53. laurie good says:

I would treasure this collection. Big Harry Potter series fan, love to share with the grandchildren. It inspires the imagination of people of any age. Timeless classics. Will be treasured and handed down as a family heirloom. Thanks, for such a great contest.

  54. I hope the book of fairy tales is great! December is so soon. I need the book in my life. LOL I’m such a collector of anything and everything Harry Potter.

  55. I really hope she writes an encyclopedia book on the harry potter world. i think she is, but i can’t wait! it would be amazing to have.

  56. I always forget that J.K. Rowling wrote the quidditch book and the one about the animals. It’s such a cool idea. I love the little box they came in…and I definitely own it!

  57. If i could pick one fantasy world to be able to actually visit it would definitely be Harry Potter’s world. I would want to go when voldemort was gone though! It would be a lot safer and much more fun.

  58. “Oh, Potter, you rotter, oh, what have you done, You’re killing off students, you think it’s good fun.”

Sung by Peeves in Chamber of Secrets

  59. “Accio Brain!”

    Ron Wesley
    Order of the Pheonix

I really am not crazy, but I really want to win these and I can’t sleep so I just sit up and play on the computer. Please pick me!!

  60. “Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid, fat rat yellow.”

    Ron Weasley
    Sorcers Stone

Love this scene in the book when Ron and Hermione meet. Defiently not love at first sight!!

  61. Grawp’s about sixteen feet tall, enjoys ripping up twenty-foot pine trees, and knows me as Hermy.

    Hermione Granger
    Order of the Phoenix

My little girls middle name is Hermione and I call her Herme to tease my husband. He did not want the name Hermione at all!

  62. I will only truly have left this school when none here are loyal to me… help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it.

    Albus Dumbledore
    Chamber of Secrets

  63. Weasley is our king.

  64. One thing I didn’t like that Jo did was name Harry and Ginny’s sone Albus Severus. Ugh!!

  65. My favorite part of any of the movies is when Hermione punches Draco in the face in Prisoner of Azkaban. I love that whole scene.

  66. My daughters went to a fun library party to celebrate the last book coming out. They have great memories from that!

  67. Oh and another reason why I love Harry Potter is that the books are partly responsible for bringing my fiance and I together. We bonded over our love for the stories and attended the midnight release of Half Blood Prince together. Many hours in a bookstore talking about our favorite series helped us go from just friends to falling in love. I’ll even be walking down the asile to Hedwig’s Theme in our upcoming wedding!

  68. I LOVE Harry Potter. Three is my favorite in the series. I came into the series late-I picked up the first book right before the sixth one was coming out. I read the first five in a month before the midnight release of Half Blood Prince. I stayed up every night and would read whenever I could. I now work in a library, and I love when I see kids coming in picking up Harry Potter for the first time. It’s such a great series and I can’t wait to share it with new readers.
I love the trivia on the Scholastic site. When planning my Harry Potter party at work last month, I used the trivia from the site for my trivia contest.

  69. one of my favorite dumbledore quotes is “it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”

so true. it’s good to dream…but not if they are unrealistic and you still have to live your life and experience the now fully. :)

    dumbledore is wise. hahha

  70. You know…I really wanted Harry and Luna to get together. they would have been cute, and they really did understand each other well…luna lost her mom, harry lost his parents, etc.

  71. I used to read harry potter fan fiction as well…actually, i still do, just not quite as much. it’s great to see other fans taking the characters and making their own stories.

i used to write some myself…never posted them online, but i still have them in notebooks and folders and stuff. it’s weird to look back on it. good memories.

  72. It’s crazy that it’s been ten years….because i’ve been reading them for ten years as well. It’s crazy, but i love it! harry potter has always been a huge part of my life growing up.

    -lauren

  73. Oops. Forgot to add what I liked about the website.
You mean besides that it was all HP? haha.
I can’t wait to read “The Tales of Beedle the Bard.”
It’ll be awesome to read those stories that are in the series themselves. xD

  74. OMG, this has got to be the best contest of the year. I would absolutely love to win this series.
    Why I love Harry Potter
    - I basically grew up with him
    - I’ve read the series 5 times, and I’m still not sick of it
    - Love the movies
    - I would love to be a wizard as well. =)

Please enter me in this amazing contest.
I didnt see it mentioned anywhere, but I live in Canada, so if it isn’t an international contest, well too bad for me. But if it is, I am so in!
    Thanks. =)

  75. Accio prize!!!

  76. The twins, Fred and George, are amazing. I’m so sad about Fred, but I figured it would be one of the twins.
I love how they are really actually smart, but just use it for the things that they love and don’t care about what other people think. Plus, they are hilarious and I always love the humor.

  77. I really liked Snape as well. I’d HATE to have him as a teacher, personally, but I do feel bad for the life he had when he was younger and all the horrible things he had to go through. it’s enough to make anyone sad/angry/bitter.

  78. I relate to Hermione Granger quite well also.
I LOVE to read, though not so much for school like she does…more books that are intersting to me and for fun.
I have buck teeth…still….LOL too bad I can’t use magic to fix them.
I have brown hair that can get curly/frizzy, though not as bad as hermione’s.
i have a few friends that are boys that i’m quite close too and I suppose i can be a bit bossy towards them. haha

    -lauren

  79. Another of my favorite characters is Luna Lovegood. She reminds me of myself in some ways. She’s kind of quirky, but still loveable…and she tries to be nice to everyone. She’s a good friend, if not a little a spacy. hahah

    -lauren

  80. My favorite character is probably…hmm….I don’t know! LOL I love Draco Malfoy. He kind of cracks me up, but I also feel really bad for him as well.

    -Lauren

  81. I’m really upset that they pushed back the sixth harry potter film, especially….again….since that is one of my favorite books in the series.

i hope the time goes by fast! i’m glad that the characters are pretty much all the same people too. it’s been great.

    -lauren

  82. My next favorite book in the series is the sixth one. It’s pack full of interesting happenings and action, but it’s just plain old FUNNY. I think all the books have a lot of humor…but this was the funniest out of all of them, to met at least.

    -lauren

  83. Oh yay, my last comment posted. And we can enter more by talking about Harry Potter? Cool!

My favorite book is the third one. I just love all the background information we learn and getting to meet Remus and Sirius was awesome.

    Lauren

“Hang on … there’s an empty chair at the staff table … where’s Snape?” Harry muttered to Ron.
“Maybe he’s ill!” said Ron hopefully.
“Maybe he’s left, because he missed out on the Defence Against the Dark Arts job again!” said Harry.
“Or he might have been sacked!” said Ron enthusiastically, “I mean, everyone hates him-”

“Or maybe,” said a very cold voice right behind them, “he’s been waiting to hear why you two didn’t arrive on the school train.”

    said Malfoy sarcastically.

  102. Harry Potter creeped me out in such a fun way. Here I was an adult, and I was nervous to turn the page and couldn’t stop myself at the same time- how great is that?

  108. I’ll keep posting because I really want to win this!! I love the twins. I wish that Fred and George got more time in the movies

  111. harry potter has a videogame for every movie, and i remember as a kid they showed commercials for this potions cauldron set where you make things and get to actuallly eat/drink them!

  112. How many Harry Potter movies are there now? I’m thinking of a Harry Potter movie fest soon!

  113. More quotes from the best book series EVER!
    Spoken by lovely Snape! LOL

The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on the inside of skulls, to be perused by an invader. The mind is a complex and many-layered thing.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
    Spoken by Severus Snape.

  114. There is an episode of Scrubs where Mandy Moore makes the comment that she loves Harry Potter so much that she secretly wishes she was a wizard. Then they go and take pictures in wizard hats!! Love that episode. I do secretly wish there were wizrds too!!

  121. Hi, blogged about this giveaway here:
    Harry Potter 10th Anniversary

  122. Harry Potter is constantly being compared to Twilight. Twilight’s a good book, but i just dont see the likelyhood. They’re two complete different genres with different morales

  123. Harry has a cousin called Dudley. throughout the duration of the book harry and dudley do not get along. however at the very end, dudley, in more or less words, says that he owes his life to harry.

  124. In the second book harry misses the train to hogwarts….and instead of being wise and waiting for mr and mrs weasley to return, they take mr weasley’s magical car and fly it to hogwarts!

You can exist without your soul, you know, as long as your brain and heart are still working. But you’ll have no sense of self anymore, no memory, no….anything. There’s no chance at all of recovery. You’ll just exist. As an empty shell.

It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well. ~J.K. Rowling, “King’s Cross,” Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, 2007, spoken by the character Albus Dumbledore

  132. #3

You place too much importance… on the so-called purity of blood! You fail to recognize that it matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be! ~J.K. Rowling, “The Parting of the Ways,” Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, 2000, spoken by the character Albus Dumbledore

  151. Harry Potter lives with his aunt and uncle, and Aunt Petunia being a muggle [or was it a squib?] whos sister was Lily Potter’s sister

  153. The prisoner of azkaban was Sirius Black, who was, in fact, harry potter’s godfather and james potter’s best friend!!

  154. There are several traits harry acquired from James Potter; one of them being their keen interest in quidditch.

Thus, harry played seeker just as james did!

  155. In the second book, Hermoine uses the ‘reparo’ spell to repair harry’s broken glasses in Diagon Alley. However throughout the series jk rowling clearly states that there is no underage magic allowed unless you are on school grounds!!

    wahh!

  159. I was so saddened when Cedric Diggory was killed….Poor harry had to take his body back with him….

  165. As a Harry Potter newbie, I’ve been dying to find out more about the mysterious Lord Voldemort. The Scholastic Harry Potter glossary tells me he is an evil wizard greatly feared by wizarding folk, and his dark reputation is such that his name is hardly ever spoken out loud. Most wizards will only refer to him as He-Who-Must Not-Be-Named or You-Know-Who. Apparently he disappeared from view after the death of James and Lily Potter, following a battle that left Harry an orphan and bearing a lightning scar on his forehead. Ah, now I see why he is such a ‘baddie’!

  166. The Veela are beautiful women with white-gold hair and men are hypnotically fascinated by them. When enraged, Veela grow beaks and scaly wings. I bet they do some damage with those beaks. Hmm, I wonder if the Veela will let me join them. (lol!)

  172. Its funny, because usually if the book turns into a movie, you start imagining the movie characters as you read again. But with this, I still pictured the original harry potter that i created from the pure imagination of my mind!

  173. HARRY POTTER FOREVER AND EVER.

people should make a pin on that. I also would really like something like the “POTTER STINKS” badges. They were so hilarious!!!

  174. I remember when the hype of harry potter started dulling because of the twilight series.

and you know what i read them all and the fourth one was a disaster so GO HARRY POTTER FOREVER!!

at least deathly hallows made SENSE and was a wonderful peace of art! BREAKING DAWN SO WAS NOT COOL!

  175. my least favorite character was cho chang. I truly didnt like her. And when harry started dating her somewhat, i was like “okay lets give the girl a chance.”

and then she just thinks about cedric all the time! Grrr!!!

and her stupid friend marietta [or something along thsoe lines] had to go and blab about the secret to umbridge. double grrrr!!

  176. The mystery of Moaning Mertle was quite tragic, actually. She was just an average shy kid who got picked on because of her glasses, and suddenly POOF! she’s DEAD.

just because she looked into a pair of snake eyes.

  177. Harry Potter is amazing. No book, magical or vampiric, can ever grab the hearts of the entire world like harry potter did.

and im glad the movies are coming out continously. I dont want harry potter to die out so soon!

She urged me to read it and said i would take back my words the moment the first chapter was through.

I still do every single day.

  180. I found it funny that Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback was actually a female!! Haha! How did Hagrid miss something like that???

I love when they were discussing it in…i think the last book ^^

  181. I’m so upset that the sixth movie got bumped up to July 2009!! and i was SOOOOO excited for November to arrive!

Now all i have to look forward to is the Twilight movie which really isnt something to look forward to at all. =[

  182. Harry Potter is amazing and these books changed my life. I would love to win the boxed set and own my own set.

  189. In the Harry Potter glossary on the Scholastic site, I learned that Acid Pops are wizarding sweets that burn holes in your tongue!

  190. I always thought it was funny that Ron’s sister name is Ginny because that is my name :)

  191. A memory I have about the books are when all of the HP mania first started my father, who was 64 at the time brought me aside and said “I think that these books are for younger people but I started reading one and really loved it”. I think he was really becoming a child again by reading this (or at least thinking younger for awhile). I started buying him every Harry Potter book when they came out and he was really happy. Before the last one came out though he passed away. I remember telling him that I would read it out loud to him so he would know what finally happened. I did that and I know that he was sitting very eagerly in heaven and listening.
I would really love to win the set but I really don’t know how to blog.
Thanks so much for the contest.

  192. I really enjoyed the game section of the site. I have it bookmarked to share with my 14 year old cousin who absolutely loves the series.

  195. I wonder if the other characters from Harry Potter will be in anything else, or if they will be typecast as the HP characters.

  217. One thing I really love about the movie, is it helps visualize a lot of the items in Harry Potters world.

  218. One thing that I really love about the entire Harry potter series is I think it gives kids hope. HP is kind of the under dog, not expected to do anything right. He ends up beating the odds over & over & saving the day. I think it gives kids that are struggling with their own issues some encouragement that they can face their problems.

  219. I learned that there is a read-a-thon on September 23 to celebrate 10 years, reading the book cover to cover. Sounds fun!

  227. If you have only seen the movies, you are missing out!

The books are so much better…and give so much more detail than the movies ever could!

The fact that Book 7 is going to be TWO movies proves that!!!

  228. Wow my little sister would LOVE me for this(well she already loves me, but shed love me even more)! I have 2 friends who are huge fans of HP, every time a book would come out, theyd head over to Borders book store for the party all dressed up as Hermoine or HP scar and all lol.
I liked the pronounciation guide, lol i remember reading the first two books when i was in grade 9 and my friend laughed at the way i pronouced hermoine- i never heard of that name before reading HP
There a a lot of hard words to pronouce even when your 20 years old haha. Nice website, the cover art page is cool too, always nice detail in every cover

  229. The 7-word reviews of HP are interesting. I can’t imagine summing up anything in 7-words.

  230. “Chocolate helps cure the effects of the Dementors.” Good excuse to munch on chocolate! Think it’ll work for me?

  231. “An Animagus is a wizard who can change into an animal at will.” I’d turn into a jaguar…roar! :)

  232. Learning more and more: “Ron has a new pet, an owl named Pigwidgeon. (He let Ginny name it, to his regret.)” Not a name I’d pick, but sounds like something the little one would come up with.

  233. Another fact: “Gillyweed makes you grow gills and flippers so you can swim underwater, like a fish.” That would be very cool!

  234. J K Rowling has done so many amazing things, including Harry Potter and working with Amnesty International.

  238. Fun fact from Scholastic: Harry meets the kindly giant Hagrid on his eleventh birthday, July 31

  239. And here’s one more fun fact from Scholastic’s Harry Potter site: Wizards lose their magical Trace, which is used to track underage use of magic, when they turn 17.

  252. Hiya… I am amazed and overwhelmed by this post :D My daughter is an arden HP Fan and yes I will tell her about this. Do they accept overseas entry?

  253. They’ve got cool wallpaper and screensaver downloads!

I like the pronunciation guide on the Scholastic Website because it is helpful for new readers.

  255. One thing I’ve noticed with the books is it’s either love ‘em or hate ‘em. I haven’t spoken to anyone who said they were just OK. People have either devoured the series or couldn’t get into it at all.

  256. On scholastic.com, i love everything! The theme of the books, the mini polls, and the atmosphere of the website is amazing! The “common room” for message boards, “hogsmeade”……….it feels like christmas!!!

  257. I was only in second grade when i read harry potter and the sorcerer’s stone. Now i’m a sophomore in high school, and the potter series still have teh same magical effect they had on my now like they had on me then.

  258. I dont understand the comparisons made between Twilight and Harry Potter. Sure twilight’s okay, but Harry Potter is a phenomena recognized by all ages. Though i’m not saying i myself dont like Twilght; heck I’ve been obsessed over it for three years. But you just can’t compare the two.

Harry Potter made you feel like a magical being. Twilight…well you just hoped you would get bitten by a hott guy.

  259. Here’s my blog : http://www.xanga.com/starrynights78/weblogpreview

Harry potter is the best series in this world. Nothing, and i mean NOTHING [not even those twilight series] can live up to the legend that Harry Potter carved into history.

  260. I thought the Pronounciation guide was pretty cool, sometimes you wonder when you read a book!
    bebemiqui82(at)yahoo(dot)com

  261. I liked the pronunciation guide!

  263. What an amazing giveaway. I have blogged about it at:

    http://angiebeth.blogspot.com/2008/09/10th-anniversary-harry-potter.html

  281. Memories:
I watched the first Harry Potter when I was in China in 2002. I watched it several times, and with some of my Chinese friends. I only kind of understood what was going on because it was in Mandarin (dubbed over).

We have watched the rest of the movies as soon as they came out in each theatre. We pre-ordered the last book (we already had read the other ones) :) .

We have admired this beautiful set before and would be so thrilled to win it!

  282. I came over to enter to win these because I read Suzanne’s post on Crunchy Green Lovin’ Mom!
I checked the scholastic website, and I thought the “seven word reviews” were pretty clever. Here is my favorite: AN HEROE IT’S BORN!! (written by a 14 year old girl. I like it because 1) it isn’t seven words 2) it shows how this book touched someone who is actually barely literate.)

  283. Harry Potter is such a classic series. It would be nice to have this set for my kids as they get older.

  284. The scholastic website is really neat, i had never been there before. I liked the Seven-Word Reviews. That’s a fun way to get kids involved.

  288. Something cool I saw on the webpage, is Cover to Cover day. Maybe I’ll get my kids to participate at school!

  289. Another memory coming to my mind is when Sirius died…I cried SO much when I read that for the first time…now I start crying as soon as they get into the Hall of Mysteries!

  290. I don’t think I have a favorite memory from Harry Potter! I have SO many! First comes to mind, when Dumbledore dies.

  291. On the Scholastic Harry Potter web page, I learned that I can print color bookmarks! I will definitely be doing this on Monday!

  292. I’ve blogged about the contest! Check it out!

    http://teachinauntie.blogspot.com/2008/09/harry-potter-mania.html

  293. I would love to sit and read through all the books. I’m the kind of person who likes to read a whole series, without stopping to wait for a new one. I think the first 7 would keep me busy til #8 came out!

  294. Here’s another new bit of info I found over at Scholastic’s site on Harry Potter: “Nicholas Flamel is the creator of the Sorcerer’s Stone, which produces a liquid that makes the drinker immortal and which turns other metals into gold.” Never knew that.

  300. I didnt know that there was a pronunciation guide.Cool! Thank you so much for the chance to win!

  301. I absolutely adore this series, so this giveaway is amazing!

I have to say that, going through the Scholastic website, I found out that Dumbledore would have whole entries and personal stories in The Tales of Beedle the Bard. I didn’t realize so much information from Dumbledore would be given–I was kind of half expecting a Fantastic Beasts type of format, with scribbles all over the pages…but I guess that’s not very Dumbledore is it.

My all time favorite Harry Potter memory was the midnight release of Deathly Hallows. I was in the Barnes and Noble at Rittenhouse, with my sister and then soon-to-be brother-in-law, and we waited around, me in my MuggleNet shirt, playing Mario Kart on their DSes. I then went home, showered, and read from around 2AM-6AM, sleeping only because I might have gotten in trouble if I didn’t.

  302. Harry Potter is my hero!!

  309. for some reason my first post doesn’t show up so here’s the link where i posted about this

um….i have so many but one of my favorite memories from harry potter is the ending i just love it soo much! i know that some people really hated it but that’s their opinion and mine is that it was great! i loved it so much even though some things made me sooo sad!! like hedwig and dobby!! ohhh poor dobby!! i also loved how harry potter handled that the dobby thing, i don’t want to say what b/c if someone comes across this and hasn’t read the last book i wouldn’t want to give it away. : (

  310. I blogged about the giveaway, scholastic, and MomDot.com here

  311. I had no idea there was a pronunciation guide. I also want to check out the audio read Sept. 23.

  312. i love harry potter because well, it’s really AWESOME!! i love the characters, the amazing writing, the setting, the magic, the art,the story, and just everything about the harry potter world!

  313. I love the site is broken down by years- wow- it was so long ago it first came out..great site

  316. Unfortunately, the Knight Bus tour was last summer, when “Deathly Hallows” was released.

They were in San Diego and I didn’t even know! :(

  317. From the scholastic website:

Did you know…According to the Goblins, all goblin-made objects are only lent to wizards and ultimately belong to goblins.

    :)

  318. I blogged about it! http://justaddlaughter.blogspot.com/2008/09/harry-potter-10th-anniversary.html

OMG — am I excited for this contest!!!

  319. The book came out the year I had my DS and it has been a favortie of ours ever since! When I checked out the website I love that you can write a review of the book but you can only use seven words! How cool is that?

  320. I learned that the illustrator, Mary GrandPré, also worked on the movie Antz, and that she prefers using pastels to any other medium in her work. I also learned about the Knight Bus, which won’t be coming anywhere near us, unfortunately.

  321. ohhhh i want this. The library is taking too long, i just finished the first book

  322. I didn’t know Hermione’s parents were dentists. I must have missed that in the books somehow. I remember when the first movie came out, I couldn’t wait to see it so I could learn how to pronounce her name! (I had it totally wrong!)

  323. I love that the site is broken up by year. With seven books that’s a lot of information.

  324. Sad part of Harry Potter is in Order of the Phoenix, when Bellatrix kills Sirus. I cry everytime it happens. Then Harry goes after her b.c of what she did. That’s how it was played out in the movie.

  325. Nargles? What are nargles? Have no idea.

  326. Oooh…totally up the alley for my 9 year old! He LOVES the Postal Owl e-card part of their site and has been emailing all of our relatives this afternoon since school is out, thanks to Hurricane Ike!

  327. I noticed they wont be in KY either, that’s sad. I WANTED TO SEE IT too.

  328. One of my memories was reading to my kids. Having the different voices (I love doing Hagrid the best!)

Even my pre-teens (at the time) loved it when I read to them, it was fun for everyone to finally see the movies and see the vision of the people I’d portrayed to them!

  329. I love the Knight bus tour but, how come they aren’t coming to Colorado? So sad.. I’d love to take my kids… heck.. I just wanna go :(

  330. I blogged about this! I would LOVE to win :)
