I read everyone of these books to my teenage kids. It was something that we have truly enjoyed together. I would love to have my own set of these books to someday read to my grandkids.

I finally saw Decemeber boys with daniel radcliffe (aka harry potter). great movie and dan really is an awesome actor. i think people need to see him in other things to really understand that….you just get used to harry potter, you can’t see him growing up and becoming a better actor as time goes on.

It’s really sad that the first guy who played dumbledore passed away…he was THE perfect guy for the part. the new one is okay, and it’s cool he’s trying his own thing…but he seems too extreme and harsh…wayyy different then the dumbledore you NORMALLY see in the books.
I’m glad the last book is being seperated into two movies. It’s just too long, with too much stuff to be on film.
I wish if Luna didn’t get together with harry, that her and Neville would have. they are both kind of outcasts…moreso then any of the others and i think they would be cute and understand each other a ton as well.

I did not know that The Tales of Beedle the Bard is coming out
I have been in love with everything harry potter since its first release. Now I have been honored to host my second harry potter book release at my walmart store. We had a huge turnout with the last one I did, and I am glad I get to do it again with the december 4th release of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. The nice thing that we do for the kids (…and teens…and adults), is give them something special to remember each book release day. Last time we did a costume contest, and gave the young boy who one (whom looked EXACTLY like a young harry potter) a free copy of the book. He was thrilled! And so were we to see his face expressions. We also gave away some memorablilia to another (adult) fan. So in closing, (for now) it would be nice to win the grand prize to give away and make another childs day. It is more rewarding than anything I’ve ever done.
When these first came out-there was such an uproar. I read the first one, and was hooked. The best thing was actually having to argue with my son over who would get to read them first as they were released in print!! As rare as it isfor me to pay to see movies in the thaeter-I have seen ech of these as they came out, and have purchesed them as soon as I could. I am eager to see what JK comes up with next, now that Harry is all grown up!

I’m a fantasy fanatic, and every book I read, I compare to Lord of the Rings. Few, and there have only been a few, have met that criteria. Harry Potter, although aimed at younger readers, was such a thrill. I rate that up there with Wheels of time, Lord of the Rings, and George R. R. Martins triology. It’d be great to win it.
I have enjoyed watching Harry and friends grow up before our eyes. Wish that her novels didn’t end with the 7th. Would like to see what all Harry’s children turn out to be and the adventures they would encounter.

i love that harry potter spans all generations. younger kids, teens/young adults, adults/parents, grandparents…and people from all over the world…read the books! it’s great.
I think it’s amazing how many websites have been made for Harry Potter! It’s great. when you love something, you almost always want to share that with others and talk to people who feel the same.
they put a lot of work into it and it’s amazing. my favorite is probably the leaky cauldron. definitely a good site for info, etc.
I remember seeing the first film like it was yesterday! i went with my sister and parents and my mom was talking…once i saw the sign Privet Drive, i had to shush her, b/c i KNEW it was starting and obviously, having not read the books herself, she didn’t. haha
My sister didn’t like the books before she saw the movie (she hadn’t even read them!) but she saw the first film and really liked it, i guess, so she started reading and is now hooked like me. People just need to give them a shot!!

Is Blaise Zabini a boy or girl? I can’t remember if it was ever cleared up..and in fan fiction, people make it both…but most of the time they say he’s a boy. I think he’s a boy too, but it’s just kind of amusing that nobody really knew.
I loved in the fourth film…how at the Yule Ball, they had the weird sisters. the songs are such fun and it makes it seem more like a real dance!!

I remember, for awhile, my sister and i would hang out and we’d always find ourselves going back to the topic of harry potter. it was just good fun to talk about and debate, since all the books weren’t out at the time.
I have this harry potter notebook and I used to tape movie photos, interviews, etc. inside it to keep as a scrapbook. i stopped doing it around the second film…but i still have them! good memories.

LAUREN ~ If you go to mugglenet they have recipes for all sorts of fun stuff like treacle tart and butterbeer. We made the butterbeer and it was VERY sweet, but with some tweaking I think it would be super yummy!!!!
The midnight parties are always very kiddish, but the teens and older fans still have a ton of fun. I’ll always have those memories!
I wish butterbeer was real or they made it and it was awesome, b/c the books make it sound sooo delicious.
it’s fun to eat “bertie bott’s every flavor beans” though.
It’s really sad that the book series is over, but i’m so glad i lived through it. it won’t be the same experience for people in the future that have the whole set of books/movies at their disposal.

My favorite part of any of the movies is when Hermione punches Draco in the face in Prisoner of Azkaban. I love that whole scene.
My daughters went to a fun library party to celebrate the last book coming out. They have great memories from that!
Oh and another reason why I love Harry Potter is that the books are partly responsible for bringing my fiance and I together. We bonded over our love for the stories and attended the midnight release of Half Blood Prince together. Many hours in a bookstore talking about our favorite series helped us go from just friends to falling in love. I’ll even be walking down the asile to Hedwig’s Theme in our upcoming wedding!
I LOVE Harry Potter. Three is my favorite in the series. I came into the series late-I picked up the first book right before the sixth one was coming out. I read the first five in a month before the midnight release of Half Blood Prince. I stayed up every night and would read whenever I could. I now work in a library, and I love when I see kids coming in picking up Harry Potter for the first time. It’s such a great series and I can’t wait to share it with new readers.

i used to write some myself…never posted them online, but i still have them in notebooks and folders and stuff. it’s weird to look back on it. good memories.

The twins, Fred and George, are amazing. I’m so sad about Fred, but I figured it would be one of the twins.
I love how they are really actually smart, but just use it for the things that they love and don’t care about what other people think. Plus, they are hilarious and I always love the humor.
I really liked Snape as well. I’d HATE to have him as a teacher, personally, but I do feel bad for the life he had when he was younger and all the horrible things he had to go through. it’s enough to make anyone sad/angry/bitter.

harry potter has a videogame for every movie, and i remember as a kid they showed commercials for this potions cauldron set where you make things and get to actuallly eat/drink them!

Harry Potter is constantly being compared to Twilight. Twilight’s a good book, but i just dont see the likelyhood. They’re two complete different genres with different morales
Harry has a cousin called Dudley. throughout the duration of the book harry and dudley do not get along. however at the very end, dudley, in more or less words, says that he owes his life to harry.
In the second book harry misses the train to hogwarts….and instead of being wise and waiting for mr and mrs weasley to return, they take mr weasley’s magical car and fly it to hogwarts!

As a Harry Potter newbie, I’ve been dying to find out more about the mysterious Lord Voldemort. The Scholastic Harry Potter glossary tells me he is an evil wizard greatly feared by wizarding folk, and his dark reputation is such that his name is hardly ever spoken out loud. Most wizards will only refer to him as He-Who-Must Not-Be-Named or You-Know-Who. Apparently he disappeared from view after the death of James and Lily Potter, following a battle that left Harry an orphan and bearing a lightning scar on his forehead. Ah, now I see why he is such a ‘baddie’!
The Veela are beautiful women with white-gold hair and men are hypnotically fascinated by them. When enraged, Veela grow beaks and scaly wings. I bet they do some damage with those beaks. Hmm, I wonder if the Veela will let me join them. (lol!)
‘Wormtail’ is Peter Pettigrew’s nickname . . . nice.
Oh my goodness, the Whomping Willow is a large tree in the grounds of Hogwarts that hits anything that comes too close! I tell you what, JK Rowling has an incredible imagination – no wonder these books are so hugely popular!
Charlie Weasley is also Ron Weasley’s brother, and he’s studying dragons in Romania.
Bill Weasley is Ron Weasley’s brother, and he works for Gringotts Bank in Africa!

Its funny, because usually if the book turns into a movie, you start imagining the movie characters as you read again. But with this, I still pictured the original harry potter that i created from the pure imagination of my mind!

Hmm i liked chamber of secrets a lot. The basilisk was AMAZING, the story evvolved into more frightening things, and it left me anticipating for more!
I remember when harry potter was just starting to get noticed by the public. My sibling was reading it and was like “EWWW you’re in love with a geek who wears glassses!”
She urged me to read it and said i would take back my words the moment the first chapter was through.
I still do every single day.

Did you know that in Harry Potter’s world, Canary Creams are trick custard-cream biscuits that turn the eater briefly into a canary?! They were invented by Fred and George Weasley.
I also learned from the Harry Potter glossary on the Scholastic site, that Ludo Bagman is Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports at the Ministry of Magic. A former Quidditch player, he was a Beater on the Wimbourne Wasps team and played for England.
In the Harry Potter glossary on the Scholastic site, I learned that Acid Pops are wizarding sweets that burn holes in your tongue!

A memory I have about the books are when all of the HP mania first started my father, who was 64 at the time brought me aside and said “I think that these books are for younger people but I started reading one and really loved it”. I think he was really becoming a child again by reading this (or at least thinking younger for awhile). I started buying him every Harry Potter book when they came out and he was really happy. Before the last one came out though he passed away. I remember telling him that I would read it out loud to him so he would know what finally happened. I did that and I know that he was sitting very eagerly in heaven and listening.
I would really love to win the set but I really don’t know how to blog.

I remember reading the first book for the first time, and being struck by how much I identified with Hermione! I admire her so much; I think it is great that the series has so many strong female characters, but I love Hermione best.
I wonder if the other characters from Harry Potter will be in anything else, or if they will be typecast as the HP characters.
Emma Watkins, the gal who plays Hermoine was just in a new movie “The Ballet Shoes” She was kind of a brat in that movie.
My sister dressed up as Hermoine one year for Halloween.

Harry Potter is a great book.
One thing I really love about the movie, is it helps visualize a lot of the items in Harry Potters world.
One thing that I really love about the entire Harry potter series is I think it gives kids hope. HP is kind of the under dog, not expected to do anything right. He ends up beating the odds over & over & saving the day. I think it gives kids that are struggling with their own issues some encouragement that they can face their problems.
I learned that there is a read-a-thon on September 23 to celebrate 10 years, reading the book cover to cover. Sounds fun!

On scholastic.com, i love everything! The theme of the books, the mini polls, and the atmosphere of the website is amazing! The “common room” for message boards, “hogsmeade”……….it feels like christmas!!!
I was only in second grade when i read harry potter and the sorcerer’s stone. Now i’m a sophomore in high school, and the potter series still have teh same magical effect they had on my now like they had on me then.
I dont understand the comparisons made between Twilight and Harry Potter. Sure twilight’s okay, but Harry Potter is a phenomena recognized by all ages. Though i’m not saying i myself dont like Twilght; heck I’ve been obsessed over it for three years. But you just can’t compare the two.
Harry Potter made you feel like a magical being. Twilight…well you just hoped you would get bitten by a hott guy.

I watched the first Harry Potter when I was in China in 2002. I watched it several times, and with some of my Chinese friends. I only kind of understood what was going on because it was in Mandarin (dubbed over).
We have watched the rest of the movies as soon as they came out in each theatre. We pre-ordered the last book (we already had read the other ones)

Here’s another new bit of info I found over at Scholastic’s site on Harry Potter: “Nicholas Flamel is the creator of the Sorcerer’s Stone, which produces a liquid that makes the drinker immortal and which turns other metals into gold.” Never knew that.

I have to say that, going through the Scholastic website, I found out that Dumbledore would have whole entries and personal stories in The Tales of Beedle the Bard. I didn’t realize so much information from Dumbledore would be given–I was kind of half expecting a Fantastic Beasts type of format, with scribbles all over the pages…but I guess that’s not very Dumbledore is it.
My all time favorite Harry Potter memory was the midnight release of Deathly Hallows. I was in the Barnes and Noble at Rittenhouse, with my sister and then soon-to-be brother-in-law, and we waited around, me in my MuggleNet shirt, playing Mario Kart on their DSes. I then went home, showered, and read from around 2AM-6AM, sleeping only because I might have gotten in trouble if I didn’t.
Harry Potter is my hero!!

oh i see why my first post hadn’t come up, well anywho um one thing i really like about the harry potter website is that it shows you all of the harry potter cover art and you can get a closer look at each cover. gosh they are so beautiful i’m a big fan of anything having to do with art and this is just amazing! OMG — am I excited for this contest!!!
The book came out the year I had my DS and it has been a favortie of ours ever since! When I checked out the website I love that you can write a review of the book but you can only use seven words! How cool is that?
I learned that the illustrator, Mary GrandPré, also worked on the movie Antz, and that she prefers using pastels to any other medium in her work. I also learned about the Knight Bus, which won’t be coming anywhere near us, unfortunately.

I didn’t know Hermione’s parents were dentists. I must have missed that in the books somehow. I remember when the first movie came out, I couldn’t wait to see it so I could learn how to pronounce her name! (I had it totally wrong!)
I love that the site is broken up by year. With seven books that’s a lot of information.
Sad part of Harry Potter is in Order of the Phoenix, when Bellatrix kills Sirus. I cry everytime it happens. Then Harry goes after her b.c of what she did. That’s how it was played out in the movie.

Oooh…totally up the alley for my 9 year old! He LOVES the Postal Owl e-card part of their site and has been emailing all of our relatives this afternoon since school is out, thanks to Hurricane Ike!

One of my memories was reading to my kids. Having the different voices (I love doing Hagrid the best!)
Even my pre-teens (at the time) loved it when I read to them, it was fun for everyone to finally see the movies and see the vision of the people I’d portrayed to them!
I love the Knight bus tour but, how come they aren’t coming to Colorado? So sad.. I’d love to take my kids… heck.. I just wanna go
