I know, I know. Its so unlike me to complain. I only have this and this and this to say some days…..
Well, Its been one of those days!
Last night we get a doorbell ring pretty late. Its a neighbor, im assuming, but one I don’t recognize, with a FedEx package for me. Apparently FedEx delivered it to the wrong house, even though it DID have the right address on it. Thankfully, he was honest enough to bring it over.
The phone I have now sucks a**. In fact, if i needed to dial 911 and I was upstairs, i would have to bust out a screen in the window and lean out to get reception. NOT exaggerating in the slightest. This phone was like a gift from the phone heavens, who clearly recognized I am a complete cheap bastard and refuse to get anything resembling technology from today’s phone era. Give me the FREE one. Yes, I’m the only person in the world that doesn’t have text, internet surfing (gasp!), or camera on my phone.
When I won this brand new amazing Nokia E71, my jaw hit the floor.
Anyway, back to the story…I am all giddy and take it in today. Even the lady at the Cellular South store said “ooh, i have been wanting to see one” and commented how slender and nice it is. It IS nice.
But you wont be getting any reviews from me on it and if I die in a fire because i was upstairs and couldn’t get a signal to 911, it wasn’t because of this phone. Its because my cell phone service is NOT compatible with this phone.
Why, oh WHY, do we need THIS many ways to connect to a service?

We cant just have, oh, two types? And with all these compatible services, of course, MY cell phone company is CDMA not WCDMA. *banging head*
Now I have this brand new, totally awesome $500 phone here that I can do nothing with. Who wants to be my Christmas partner this year? Sigh.

I’d sale it on ebay too and take that money and turn around and buy a phone that will work. That way you’re not out any money. It’s just trading one phone for another.
Have you done some online research to make sure there’s not a way to make it work? I know I have a student who hacks phones for the kids at school to make them work….(of course I don’t know that he does that…I am a teacher LOL)
That’s so annoying. Cell phone companies steal your soul when you sign the contract, AND then you don’t get any service.

WHAT??? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??? Are they ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY SURE that there is NO WAY it can work? Can you switch providers? In this day and age, there has to be something.
If not, I’ll gladly switch phones with you. I have a hot pink chocolate. Actually, that’s probably not such a great idea. I just figured mine out… some features, anyway

Now I am a little confused.. In my previous “Career” I worked 4 years in the cellular industry and as far as I know… no wireless provider in the states works with WCDMA. Verizon and Sprint are the only ones on CDMA and the others are GSM. Who do they expect you to get service with?
That sucks, Trisha! I’d totally sell it on ebay, rake in the cash, and then buy an equally kick ass phone, one that WORKS with your cell coverage! That phone is AWESOME looking, btw!!!

Hm, isn’t there a way to hack the phone and make it work with your provider, though? I think I’ve seen people do this before.
Oh no!!! Yeah, I would sell it. It’s nice to give it away, but that money you can use to buy a new one, so you’re still getting a new phone, just not that one.
