I received this today in my email, thought it was interesting. Just passing on. I am not advocating this nor have I tried it, but its worth looking into.

June is National Safety Month and as keeping our homes and ourselves safe is important, when it comes to our kids, safety is always our first priority. From summer camp to sports practices, children are on the move now more than ever and can often forget to check-in with parents. Developed by Russell Thornton after briefly losing sight of his son at an amusement park, the Amber Alert GPS V3 (www.amberalertgps.com) can help you easily keep track of your children while they are on-the-go and deliver peace of mind to any parent.
The Amber Alert GPS V3 uses GPS technology to provide reports on a kid’s location every five minutes, as well as a history of where your child has been recently. The V3 allows parents to customize specific zone alerts around places your child frequents – school, grandma’s house, soccer field – and will send parents an alert via email or text every time your child enters or exits that zone.
Also for a small monthly fee, alerts can also be set up to track speed (allowing you to know if your child is in a car, or going faster than you would like) as well as notifications if your child comes within 500 feet of a sexual offender’s residence. All alerts can be set up and monitored via a parent-friendly portal available at www.amberalertgps.com.
Other features of the device include an SOS button which enables children to call for help with the push of a button. Later this year, Amber Alert GPS will also introduce mobile apps that will allow you to track your family members via Smartphone.

Great idea, I wish it was a LOT smaller, like small enough to be a charm on a necklace or at least hidden against the skin somewhere so if the kid did get kidnapped the bad guy wouldn’t know so quickly to ditch the device.
