Anissa had a stroke..how you can help

18 Nov Posted by Trisha-admin in charity | 33 comments

anissa_mayhewI know you may be thinking, ok, its a blogger. There are millions of bloggers. Yes, you are right.

But this is one of our own.

In the mom blog community, at least in the main social networking part, its really a lot smaller and more involved then you think. Many of us know each other or cross paths quite a bit. We watch each other on tv, read about each other in interviews, visit each others sites, watch tweets, and whether or not you consistently follow someone, chances are you may know of them, their site, or some impact they have made.

I heard Anissa, blogger at Free Anissa and Aiming Low, had a stroke yesterday. I don’t know Anissa well, but I have had quite a few conversations with her (including one where she wasn’t so happy about a post I did, lol) and I respect her as a blogger.

I cant imagine what her children, her husband, and she herself is going through right now.

While Anissa and I are not personal friends, her reach speaks to me like a  family member in what we call the mom blogosphere. I would hope that if I ended up in the hospital, Chris would have some backing from the friendships and outreach I have made online. I can remember a time when I lost my cat and people from the blog sent me flowers to make me feel better.

And it did.

My pledge is that I will match up to $100 to encourage additional donations. I know its not a lot, but its all I have. If you would like to help out Anissas family and donate, you can do so here. Every dollar makes a difference when someone is spending all their time in the hospital. It helps pay for dinners on the go, movies to keep the kids busy, just all of it.

If you donate, write how much in the comments and I will match it. If you would like to remain anonymous, please just email me directly with your donation.  I know its Christmas time, but this is how I can help. You donate $5, Ill match that $5. Now its made a difference, kwim?

I hope even if we make our $100 match (and I KNOW we will) that people continue to be inspired to donate.

You can visit her Caring Bridge page here.

You can read the newest update here.
