Atleast it wasnt a fire.

About a year and a half ago we had a nasty little house fire that had $20,000 in damage. We considered ourselves lucky since we made it out safely, all of our pets lived, and we had renters insurance.

This evening Charlotte put a penny behind a nightlight and it blew the entire upstairs circuits and put the beginnings of a fire on our outlet. Luckily the breaker did its job. I am sure its going to cost me a fortune in electrician work.

Thankfully she is safe, but she is very scared and rightfully so. It wasn’t too long ago that she was forced to move out of her home and lost a ton of her items just 3 weeks after Christmas.

I was tossed between wanting to yell at her and make her understand she could have caught the house on fire, been electrocuted, killed….but she was just standing there saying how scared she was and it made me scared for her. I know she is upstairs in bed thinking about fire.

On a lighter note, I gave blood for the first time this evening. I had to lie about my weight because technically I’m not allowed to donate, but they don’t take the height/weight thing into consideration. I’m only 5’1″, of course I don’t weigh a ton, but I can still donate blood.

And I did.

And my arm hurts.

But I feel like a hero.

Doesnt do much good to cover them if you have a nightlight in it. LOL! Maybe they need safer nightlights. I need to look around and see if i can find some that children cant remove.

  3. A penny did that??? Thanks for sharing that! My daughter has pennies stashed all over the house! I’m checking the nightlights RIGHT now!

I went to give blood a couple of months ago.. but they wouldn’t let me because my Iron was low… Geez..
I don’t have the weight problem and the nurse told me 2 days before going to give blood to take 2 childrens flintstone vitamins until the day I give blood and my Iron will be good.. I am going to try it in a couple of weeks when the blood mobile comes back to town.
Good job giving blood is so important.. and goodness HIde those pennies.. Thankful that Miss Charlotte is fine. Scarey
