What an honor! We had the opportunity to interview SITS as one of our Feature Bloggers for this month. What a wonderful thing Heather and Tiffany have done with SITS, we just knew we had to interview them to see how hard it is to run a site like SITS (I have often wondered if they have gone as crazy as me during the whole MomDot setup). Here is your chance to know the ladies behind the scenes:
Before we interview you as the SITS team we would like to know a bit about you individually.
What got you started in blogging?
Heather: I started blogging as a creative outlet. Oddly enough, connecting with other mothers was the farthest thing from my mind. Now, some of my dearest friends are my bloggy buddies.
Tiffany: Heather, actually. We were neighbors and close friends. When I moved, I would follow her on her blog. I thought it would be a great way to journal.
What are the links to your blogs?

What would you say is the “theme” of your blog?
Heather: I like to think of it as a mish mash of everything. I don’t want it to be about anything specific, just about life in general.
Tiffany: Humor in the everyday.
How long have you been blogging?
Heather: Two years.
Tiffany: 4 months. Wow. It feels a lot longer than that!
Now we move onto SITS
Who came up with the idea for SITS? We are both comment junkies. One day, one the phone, this idea for a blog that promoted blogs just came up. We wanted a community of bloggers who would support one another.
What or who inspired you to start SITS? Comment Love. And, the friends we had started to make in bloggyland. We thought that some of these amazing blogs needed to be showcased. It’s nice to have someone read what you write!
What are some of the challenges you face with on a day to day basis running a blog like SITS? With SITS and SITS Recipes, the posts change every 24 hours, so keeping on top of things is key.
Yes, If we go 24 hours without a set up, we fall apart. Now obviously you are surely bombarded with emails of people that want their blogs to be featured, how do you pick the blogs that you feature (for those that want the insider tips LOL) You really want to know the “secret”? We feature blogs of active SITStas. We put the blogs in order by date received and when we are choosing that weeks line up, we check roll call. It seems fair to feature those who participate!
We completly agree with that! We do the same thing on our feature boutiques and blogs. But we had to share yall with our readers…so we came searching for you! Being that there are two of you working behind the scenes do you split duties, how do you not get overwhelmed? We split things pretty equally. We had a small business together while we were neighbors, so working together is actually easy and quite enjoyable! We both truly respect and like one another.
What is your favorite part of running SITS? The comradery and support among the SITS Girls. It’s amazing. We have received numerous email of thanks, as so many bloggers aren’t sure where they belong. Seeing it evolve into its own community has been incredibly fulfilling.
Is there anything you just wish you did differently or anything you would change about SITS? About a week into it, we had to lay some ground rules regarding content on the featured blogs. That is something we should have done from the get-go.
Yeah, we went into it a little blindly too..trying to learn on the way. Can you give the MomDot readers a “sneak peek” into what’s coming up next for your SITS? Any new events, giveaways, interviews, etc.? Well, in the 2 months that SITS has been up, we’ve given away a bounce house, 2 cameras, 10 “comment junkie” t-shirts, $300 in Target Gift Cards, an iPod Nano, a total blog makeover and lots of smaller prizes. I think it’s safe to say that prizes are part of our plan…and Oprah. Or Ellen.
We have been writing Oprah for 4 years for some awesome online projects, she never writes back….we wish you luck! LOL! What advice do you have for those that are wanting to blog but are unsure of where to start or what to write about? Just do it. You’d be surprised at how much fodder there is out there once you start looking. We’ve got a t-shirt coming out next month that says, “I am SO gonna blog about this.” It opens up a new world of friends, support and creativity.

Love it, I think I became a part of it a few days after they launched, when they got their layout finished. I love it b.c I read so many different types of writing that it’s nice to know where my writing comes in.
Seein so many different ones makes me go blog.
I’ve been going to Sits for a few weeks now. It’s nice to get the inside scoop. It’s an awesome site.
