With the Carnival season in full swing here in New Orleans, its time to prepare our game plan for the two week marathon of parades! One thing that has been an issue for parents at parades (I can even remember my Mom struggling to find a solution to this when I was young) is trying to keep your little ones warm and dry from the unpredictable New Orleans weather. You never know if it will be windy, rainy, cold or hot during Mardi Gras.
Many parents build (or buy) these ladder seats (pictured below) to give their kids a great view of the parade. It also safeguards your little ones from getting lost or running in front of floats to catch the prized throws. So, what’s the problem? It is nearly impossible to keep a blanket on your kids when they are in this type of seat squirming around the catch beads 6 feet in the air! And if the blanket falls to the ground, yo uhave to climb all the way down the ladder to retrieve it! What a pain!
When I received the new B Blanket from Rain of Shine Kids and I saw the ties on the sides of the blanket and the water resistant lining, a light bulb went off in my head! This product is PERFECT for Mardi Gras parades!!!!!!!!!!
The B Blanket is a perfect all-weather blanket. It has cozy polar fleece on one side to keep your child warm and water resistant fabric on the reverse side to keep them dry. Tonight was the perfect test of the B Blanket because it was cold AND rainy at the parade (I know….I am a bad Mom for taking my kids out in this weather, but you just CAN’T miss a parade! LOL!).
I tried out the Sunburst B Blanket tonight on the girls’ ladder seat. It was very easy to tie to the harness of the seat and was actually big enough to cover them both (but I would LOVE to try out the Super WooBee to have a little extra room)! The water resistant material definitely held up its’ end of the bargain and kept my kids dry. I actually had TWO Moms come up to me at the parade and ask where I got this blanket! I passed on the website to the Moms and passed on my recommendation!

I agree! I think they are great for Houston area weather too (which is very unpredictable too since we aren’t THAT far from New Orleans in the grand scheme of things). I really like mine. We have used it several times!
