Babycapes: Fashion, comfort, elegance CLOSED
I could not be loving this product more then if I made it myself. When I found BabyCapes, I sighed. This is the type of flawless children’s fashions that is practical, gorgeous, and useful for a variety of weather. I think I did the up and down mini jump when they agreed to let me test one out.
When it arrived, I can tell you that the quality was immaculate. The stitching was strong and made in mint green suede with Sherpa on the inside. I would have put it on myself if I could get my arms in it.
Babycapes has three types of capes. They have the Sherpa Suede line, the Minky Marshmellow line, and the Minky Cuddle line. They also make them in boys and girls fabrics and they are one size fits most from newborn to preschooler.
Except for my preschooler. Who is not your average size child. I hadn’t expected it, but Charlotte’s arms could not fit comfortably in the arm holes (which by the way was funny stuff) and she still asked to wear it to school today. Charlotte is about 40″+ tall and 38 pounds. She could, however, still wear it without the arm holes, and it will still be perfect for going to and from the car and a out in public during the cold months. Its more of a poncho at her age, then a cape, so it fits for that immaculately.
My overall feeling on this product was that its an A++ for kids who are not horses like mine. HA! Its warm, looks like it would stand up to some excellent winds, and its the added benefit of skipping those big bulky coats that you have to do up and run to the car, just to undo before you strap them in. Also, this will last through several winter seasons for your child, so you wont have to run around and buy new coats all the time.
My two suggestions to Babycakes designers. 1) Make a white line and a black line. There is nothing more classic or versatile in those colors. My second is if arm holes had buttons on the inside that unsnapped to make it larger they got to an older stage, it may last even LONGER, making the value go up MORE.
Baby Capes also very responsibly included child car safety materials in their box to me, as well as, display it on their site regarding children in car seats and coats. One thing I have to mention is that there is a back opening on baby capes that allows you to put your child in the car seat and have the belt around THEM, not the coat, without removing it. It also has an inside, out of the way, foot pouch, that you can tuck your child’s feet into to keep them warm. You can see this demonstrated on their video around the 2 minute mark.
Please remember that if you leave a coat on any child in the car, that your car could warm, so on long trips, make sure you check your child’s heat so they don’t get TOO hot.
