I could not be loving this product more then if I made it myself. When I found BabyCapes, I sighed. This is the type of flawless children’s fashions that is practical, gorgeous, and useful for a variety of weather. I think I did the up and down mini jump when they agreed to let me test one out.
When it arrived, I can tell you that the quality was immaculate. The stitching was strong and made in mint green suede with Sherpa on the inside. I would have put it on myself if I could get my arms in it.
Babycapes has three types of capes. They have the Sherpa Suede line, the Minky Marshmellow line, and the Minky Cuddle line. They also make them in boys and girls fabrics and they are one size fits most from newborn to preschooler.
Except for my preschooler. Who is not your average size child. I hadn’t expected it, but Charlotte’s arms could not fit comfortably in the arm holes (which by the way was funny stuff) and she still asked to wear it to school today. Charlotte is about 40″+ tall and 38 pounds. She could, however, still wear it without the arm holes, and it will still be perfect for going to and from the car and a out in public during the cold months. Its more of a poncho at her age, then a cape, so it fits for that immaculately.
My overall feeling on this product was that its an A++ for kids who are not horses like mine. HA! Its warm, looks like it would stand up to some excellent winds, and its the added benefit of skipping those big bulky coats that you have to do up and run to the car, just to undo before you strap them in. Also, this will last through several winter seasons for your child, so you wont have to run around and buy new coats all the time.
My two suggestions to Babycakes designers. 1) Make a white line and a black line. There is nothing more classic or versatile in those colors. My second is if arm holes had buttons on the inside that unsnapped to make it larger they got to an older stage, it may last even LONGER, making the value go up MORE.
Baby Capes also very responsibly included child car safety materials in their box to me, as well as, display it on their site regarding children in car seats and coats. One thing I have to mention is that there is a back opening on baby capes that allows you to put your child in the car seat and have the belt around THEM, not the coat, without removing it. It also has an inside, out of the way, foot pouch, that you can tuck your child’s feet into to keep them warm. You can see this demonstrated on their video around the 2 minute mark.
Please remember that if you leave a coat on any child in the car, that your car could warm, so on long trips, make sure you check your child’s heat so they don’t get TOO hot.

I love the Pink Sherpa style. Lovely!
As far as suggestions – I would love to see a few designs with bigger boys in mind…the baby blue is nice but something in a dark navy, maybe black with a boyish pattern, a forest green. I love the idea of snap-adjustible armholes so they can keep wearing them as they get bigger (and BOY do they get bigger fast!)
Brown sherpa suede is cute
)
love the pink!
Oh and I already have the Momdot button in my sidebar
Another note: Embroidered Babycapes are available at Babycapes’ sister site http://www.SuziHomemaker.net/babies/Babycapes.html!!! We soon will add the embroidery option to the Babycapes site! Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions!
They look sooo comfortable! I wish they made them in adult sizes! i mean, i know its called BABYcapes……..but still! I want one in MY size!
i like the blue!
The pink, definitely for Abby! These are an awesome idea! My daughter HATES and I mean HATES having to put her arms into shirts and coats!
If I thought my boy would wear one, he’d be getting the Minky Marshmallow in green with the skulls trim…but if I won it would be for my niece! She’d be adorable in the suede Mint one (my SIL is avoiding pink like the plague!)
I like the pink and the brown.
Suggestion #5 –
I’d be curious to see some without hoods.
Suggestion #4 –
Bigger sizes – my daughter is 4, but she’s big for her age (like Charlotte). I’m guessing she’d have the same issues with the arm holes being too tight.
Suggestion #3 –
It’d be fun if these had matching mittens or gloves to go with it.
Suggestion #2 –
It’d be cute if there was a red one…my daughter LOVES red, plus it’d be cute for Christmas.
Suggestion #1 –
I’d love to see one/some that have a few simple designs across the left or right chest.
I’ve got MomDot in my blogroll!
Oh these are adorable!! I love the marshmallow blue w/multidots!!
wow how cute as for me any clor would do and yes i love to try and win this its too cute
I’d love to see the same design, but in a rain coat.
I’d love to some with simple yet beautiful children-inspired applique designs on the front or on the hoodie.
I love the concept that it fits children from “newborn to preschoolers”. Coats are expensive and the Baby Cape can help parents save much needed moolah.
I love the pink one. It looks sooo comfy and warm! Perfect for winter. Thanks for the giveaway!
would love to see a black one as well!
would love to see one without a hood!
