Imagine, the baby is screaming, the phone is ringing, the microwave just stopped, and the older kids knocks their cup on the ground.

You can’t figure out what the baby wants, while the older kids are trying to tell you what the baby is saying. It doesn’t make sense…

What is the first thing you do?  (Screaming  at the kids because you are tired and frustrated that you don’t understand them doesn’t count)

As this is all happening you realize that there must be a better way to deal with the non-verbal communication.

BABY SIGNS is based on American Sign Language and will help encourage the use of non-verbal gestures to communicate. Research has proven that babies who are taught to use signs to express their basic ideas before they can say words are happier because they can communicate with others.

For me, a parent of 2 kids who did use ASL, this is a great book that will show the basics of non-verbal communication. I love the fact that ASL teaches kids to communicate what their needs and wants are before they can speak.
