Today Charlotte is home.
Sick.
Or at least feverish, which is mostly sick. She said she went to the office yesterday because she felt hot when everyone else was cold but she had “no fever” so they sent her back to class. Funny, cause when she got home she was burning up and took a two hour nap. She still felt bad this morning so I kept her home, one of the privileges of a work at home parent, and she must be getting back to her normal annoying self, because she is now sitting in the living room playing some sort of Xbox game that I know nothing about.
Now I hate when I have a sick kid. A hurt kid. A kid that doesn’t even feel slightly well. It makes me feel all sorts of mom guilt. I hate not being able to fix it and the look they get when they are pathetically curled up in a ball on the couch or asking if they can “sleep with you”. But I can give you a little secret…Band-Aids make everything feel better.
Even a fever…
Band-Aids have this unique power to make kids feel like things are…well…better.
So I covered Charlotte in them today.
Which was all fun and games till we took them off….
So here are a few tips to remove Band-Aids a little more painlessly than I did…(which was the rip it off method..hahahhahaa)
And with school starting, aside from the sickness and fevers you will probably be dealing with at some point, there will also be cuts, scrapes, scratches and bruises, so keep your first aid kit full of Neosporin and Band-Aids for your little one!

I love Neosporin and Band-Aids! I have a little kit with both that I make each school year as I know that the playground is going to make sure that there are a lot of boo boos through the year. My daughter loves a kiss on the forehead and then a band aid on her scratch. For some reason, all is well when she has both!

I have to remember to keep the neosporin handy because I forgot to use it on the kids.
Oh, and if the owchie is on a finger and it needs ice, another trick is to fill a bowl full of water and put ice and plastic toys in it. Young kiddos and babies will happily play with the ice and toys, and their hands being in the ice water is as good as holding ice on a wound.
When my kiddo gets a boo that requires ice, I use one of those freezer things for your kids lunchboxes. My one happens to be shaped like a dog. When my little one refused to let me put ice on an owie, I took out this and made it “talk to him” in doggy voice (think scooby doo). “I’m a boo boo dog. I wanna help make you feel better.” Not only did it work, I even had him putting it on the owie himslef by having the dog say “Put me where it hurts, ok?”

My girls are too old now for a diaper bag, but I carry a backpack now instead. It contains snacks, change of clothes, kleenex, wipes, Neosporin, bandaids, crayons, and a coloring book or two. Neosporin and bandaids are a staple item for us.
Neosporin is a staple in our house. I have 3 tubes, one upstairs, one downstairs, and one in my purse. I even use it on the doggies when they have booboos or when their noses dry out. Works fabulous!
So sorry C was sick that day, but she looks adorable in those Muppet Band Aids – they are my 2nd favorite kind.

Whenever my kids get hurt, our “go to” remedy is to get a “feel better”. My daughter started calling an ice pack a “feel better” when she was 2, and even though she’s almost 8 now, we still call it that. When I went to visit my parents a few weeks ago, my dad got hurt doing yardwork and I immediately asked if he needed a “feel better”. Oops! No wonder he looked at me like I was crazy.
My kids insist on getting bandaids for any little cut, scrape, or bump. But then freak out when it’s time to take them off. I appreciate the hints!

I’ve been using BandAids since I was a little girl, and that is a very long time.
Oh and the muppet bandaids are competely adorable! Parker is Band-Aid obsessed (aren’t all kids?) so he would definitely like some new designs to add to his collection.
Last year I had 3 kids in 3 different schools. It seemed like we couldnt get the old sick germs out before new ones came in. Hopefully this year will be a little better since the two youngest share germs with the same group of kids.. I hate once one of them gets sick, cause it never fails that we just have some type of constant illness going all winter. They just pass it back and forth!

So when I was little I used Band-Aids as an accessory. I seemed to favor my elbow and lower arm. There are several student ID cards and yearbook photos that prove it too…much to my Mom’s chagrin. I think I was 3-5 yrs old for that phase. But I won’t lie here…if I win Muppet Band-Aids, I will totally snag one for me to wear just because. I still think they’re fun. My 3 1/2 year old got stung by a bee on the ear, and required a bandaid. When it was flapping in the wind the next morning – the neighbor boy pulled it off, and he screamed bloody murder until we applied a new bandaid.

My boys go through band aids like they are a second fashion trend. They wear them up and down their arms and put them on cars and on their cheeks and knees and even if they scrap without bleeding its crazy

Since birth, my daughter has had a myriad of nicknames. Boo Boo has always been one of them. When she was little Boo Boo would get kisses and so would her boo boo’s. This always made her laugh and make her not think of the pain!

Bandaids can be a girls best friend at times…so handy for all the scrapes and cuts we can get. My 10 year old daughter just bought a new purse this weekend and she said “Where are our band-aids? Grandma always tells me a few band-aids should always be in your purse!”
Neosporin is my best friend. I’m a little embaressed to say, but if a cut is going to happen, it’s going to happen to me in the most unlikly way possible! I once passed out in my kitchen putting the dishes away…woke up with a knife in my thigh! I love neosporin and pretty much all first aid related products!

Band-Aids make everybody feel loved!! There is just something about the act of mommy putting a band-aid on a boo-boo that can make anything feel better. Heck, even my hubby comes to me for band-aid lovin’ when he has a boo-boo! Shhhh……I didn’t share that with you.

BandAid’s are my favorite, or shall I say the kids favorite for little tiny bumps and bruises, yes even bug bites need a BandAid on them. I use the plain old style ones and the kids r happy having their BandAid covering their bumps and bruises. Taking them off is usually awful, glad you have tips here on that!

My oldest is in 3rd grade. The other day, he fell and had to put his own bandage on his upper arm. Is 8 years old too old to have the teacher or nurse put a band-aid on for him? I don’t know how he managed to do it one-handed.
When I was little a band-aid was a badge to be proud of but they were all plain, now they’re fashion statements with characters and colors you can coordinate with your outfit. I’m 54 and not too old to wear pink, blue, purple or even Hello Kitty.
My girls are practically addicted to Band-Aids. They think that Band-Aids make the “ouch” stop so they want them for every bump, bruise and baddie.

I do a lot of gardening and sometimes get little cuts on my fingers—I always treat them with Neosporin to keep infection away!

Ugh, back to school sickies here too, youngest daughter, then me… Just got the oldest her flu shot and the youngest will be going next week… YAY for bandaids, because my oldest ended up having to have 3 other shots to get up to date while she was there… Neosporin is a GODSEND in our house of clumsy girls, I love the spray that goes in your purse!

I’m currently using Neosporin Lip Health daily hydration therapy to keep a jump on chapped lips this winter.
It is so true that Band-Aids make everything feel better. My kids are always asking me to put one on for even the tiniest thing. Now I just wish I could find a way to keep my 2 year old from peeling them off.

My mom taught us to keep a red washcloth on hand. It’s almost as magical as Band-Aids, but in a different way. You know how kids are often fine when they hurt themselves – until they realize they’re bleeding and then they totally flip out? Well, the red washcloth hides the blood!

I bought Band-aid sheer strips at Target today.
I have this little Bandaid carrier that you put in your purse. My daughter was filling it up with Band-aids today. She took one out of the wrapper and asked me to put it on her! I told her not to take anymore out of the wrapper, and put it on her finger. Later she wanted to put the Band-aid back in the wrapper and into the container!
Whenever my daughter gets hurt, I pray for her. She’s old enough now that she automatically asks me to pray for her whenever she gets hurt!
I like Neosporin the ointment in the tube. It’s my go to when I have a cut that I want to get healed up quickly.
My sister-in-law was in town this week and managed to cut two of her fingers while chopping some veggies! Fortunately, I had a box of Band-aids on hand. The box had a variety of sizes – my favorite.

It is amazing how Band-Aids fixx boo-boos. Even when they just get “banged” – no cut or blood – they still want a Band-Aid. Weird, huh? But maybe it’s the process that is “healing”. They sit, mommy pulls out the first aid kit, I put on neosporin, I make a fuss about choosing the right band-aid, I put it on. A hug, a kiss, they are on their way.
We bought those Muppet Band-Aids before. I loved them. I actually went to put one on my son today – but we ran out. I only had an empty box.

Angry birds are the best
Fabric band-aids tend to stay on longer than plastic or foam ones for me. I have no choice any more between the 2 kinds, though. My MIL and 2 of her sons are allergic to the plastic kind (they take off multiple layers of skin and it ends up that they need one to place over the marks from the last band-aid) and since I live with them, we never keep them in the house.
Right now my son has a mix of different characters – Handy Manny, The Avengers, and some fish ones. All are the “tattoo” kind where there is a strip of glue all the way around the gauze. These tend to stay on better than regular strips.
I love the Band-aid tough strips waterproof ones. I live on an acreage and i’m usually the one feeding and watering all the animals. These band-aids look like they are duct tape and stay on really well. And i should know. 2 years ago i took the tip of my finger off cutting carrots for dinner. wasn’t enough to get surgery or stitches, but definitely needed a band-aid. i even impressed the doctor i saw with how well i applied it.
Those are are some seriously awesome bandaids.

Our daughter recently fell at school and scraped a huge chunk off her knee. She would cry before we even touched her to remove and change the bandage. I felt so bad. I wish we had known about these tips last week!
Also, Muppet Band-Aids are THE best kind. Marvel superheroes are a close second. If we dare try to put a Dora Band-Aid on one of my kids, we’re in for a 3 hour fight, and by then, they’ll probably have passed out from loss of blood.

Neosporin apparently makes it worse in my 4 year old’s eyes. I tool off his band aid to clean a day old wound. As soon as the band aid came off…the wailing began. Cleaned wound…wailing. just had to put neosporin on middle man’s finger, he had a weird hangnail thing and it was hurting. Putting on medicine always makes my middle son feel better.

Oooooh I love the Muppets! I think my kids hurt themselves on purpose and definitely feign injury in order to use Band-Aids. I think the last ones we bought were Hello Kitty. They are so cute.

Funny, Matthew left school early yesterday because his ears were STILL clogged- ends up with double ear infection!!! Wish the band aids worked on that!
I love Charlotte’s outfit! Also I’m sporting a fun Muppets band-aid right now! It def makes the pain better lol. Though those tips are helpful as Owen HATES when it’s time to take them off lol.
I usually just let the Band-aids wear off slowly on their own. LOL It takes a few days and a few showers.

Well funny story is…i took my daughter to her 9 mo check up and she got shots. I dread having to pull them off or remove them from her. But this time I didnt have to worry about it, they came off on their own. When we got home, both bandaids were both on my boodies rather than on her thighs. I was wondering what she was doing when she kep trying to get them off my shirt.

Neosporin is my fave! (The one in the tube!) I use it on EVERYTHING!!
I actually use Neosporin for lots of things too, like on the backs of my earrings when it’s fake gold so that it doesn’t irritate my skin. LOL!

I used to use Neosporin on my earrings too! Now I just carry the little spray one in my diaper bag for the kids, those boys can’t go anywhere without getting a boo boo.
