Barbie Mariposa and The Fairy Princess Party!

Sometime last week Barbie let me know that Barbie Mariposa and The Fairy Princess was coming out and wanted to know if we wanted to do a screener of it. As a Barbie fan myself and a daughter that is also a Barbie fan, we were definitely excited to host some of the neighborhood girls in a chance to not only party Barbie style but see the new movie at the same time!

About Barbie Mariposa and The Fairy Princess

Mariposa and her furry friend Zee return in Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess. In this magical adventure, Mariposa becomes the royal Ambassador of Flutterfield and is sent to bring peace between her fairy land and their rivals, the Crystal Fairies of Shimmervale. While Mariposa doesn’t make a great first impression on their King, she becomes fast friends with his shy daughter, Princess Catania. However, a misunderstanding causes Mariposa to be banished from the fairy land. As Mariposa and Zee return to Flutterfield, they encounter a dark fairy on her way to destroy Shimmervale. Mariposa rushes back and helps Princess Catania save her fairy land and together, the two girls prove that the best way to make a friend, is to be a friend.

Of course the party fell the day after Phoenyxs Mickey Mouse Birthday party, so we pretty much partied all weekend!!

To kick off the party, we made our own fairy wings, played with activity books, ate some cupcakes and then opened up the dolls so the girls (and one wee little boy) could watch the movie.

Honestly, it was fun to get the kids together for no other reason than to play and enjoy everyone’s company (and the cupcakes didn’t hurt either).  All the kids really enjoyed the movie and the beautiful dolls and Charlotte spent the rest of the day hauling her Mariposa and Fairy Princess dolls around the  neighborhood.

The movie is full of beautiful costumes and colors, gorgeous wings, and all the lessons we have come to know from Barbie. This one specifically focuses on stereotyping people and how one side (Butterfly winged fairies) were told things about the other side (Crystal Fairies)  and vice versa that were not true. As a result, each side was afraid of the other side until two fairies come together to realize that they are not so different from one another.

You can now pick it up at your local retailer as it debuted on August 27th and is a perfect DVD/Blu-Ray for any family movie collection.

When did Charlotte get so darn big? I think I’ve watched her grow up from a toddler to such a beautiful young lady. More than that, I’m glad to see at her age she still likes Barbie. I get worried my girls are growing up too fast when they’d rather watch “Jessie” or “ANT Farm” instead of cartoons.

We do watch Jessie, BUT Charlottes really very much her age. She loves Disney movies, will sit and watch preschool stuff with Phoenyx (and cheer when it comes on). She is exactly where she needs to be I believe at her age.

This makes me miss my daughters at that age. They would have loved playing with the Barbie dolls and watching the movie. It looks like Y’all had a great time!
