Over the weekend we saddled up the car (at nearly $4 a gallon) and drove over to Pensacola Beach. Of course before you go, you have to pack the car. Going to the beach with a baby is not easy, let me tell you that!
When you just have older kids, you are packing stuff like sun screen, sand castle toys, drinks, and towels. However when you are hauling a baby to the beach, you are packing all of that PLUS diapers, change of clothes x2, swim diapers, bottles, bottles in a cooler to stay cold, jar food, spoons, baby wipes, and blah freaking blah, the list goes on and on.
I was telling my spouse it looked like we were going on vacation for 5 days instead of just going to the beach for 5 hours.
True to our family form, we forgot a blanket to sit on….so once we got to the beach, I had to go spend $12 to buy two more beach towesl to spread out and do my best to keep Phoenyxs body parts out of the sand.
Because Little P was mega interested in the sand.
He would pick it up and it would sift through his fingers
and he would look at you like “Did you see that?”
And while it was way too cold for my blood to get in the water still, Charlotte had a great time meeting new friends and playing in the water.
I am so looking forward to more beach days this summer!
What do you generally take your kids to do as it warms up?

*Love the beach? Make my beach ornaments!

Man I miss those beaches!!
How nice to live near the beach like that to be able to drive there easily. We could but I can’t wait for our beach vacation at the end of August!! Ahh the beach and sand and family.
I so wish I was closer to the beach! Can’t wait to see those sandy beaches in a month! Love the discovery of sand and playing. On warm days we get out the blowup slide, go to the park, swimming, picnics or splash pads. Mostly something that involves water.
It looks like the kiddos had a blast and that beach looks gorgeous! I really need to take my girls to a REAL beach…The lake doesn’t count!
You guys look like you had a blast! I wish we lived closer to the beach, all we have is stinky lakes.
How fun! I loved taking Angeline to the beach when she was a baby…I didn’t even take a blanket, we just sat on the sand. That’s probably why she always ended up with sand in her eyes, now that I think about it. LOL That’s one of the drawbacks of having a kid so young – you just don’t know any better!
My girls keep asking when we are headed to the beach. I keep telling them this summer … it is to cold to think about the beach yet!
Looks like they had a blast!
So did you get everything scoped out for Brandcation? Tell all the jellyfish to stay away and the current to be a green flag?
What don’t we take? LOL. Towels, Sportsbrella, sun lotion, UV shirts, skim boards, boogie boards, sand toys, sun glasses, snacks, cover ups … it fills our beach caddy in a heartbeat.
Can’t wait to hit the beach ourselves! And P is so adorable.
We love beach days as well, though it will be awhile before our water is warm enough to swim in! We also love visiting the flea market, going to the drive in movies and feeding the fish at Pymatuning! I can’t wait for warmer days!
We spend every other weekend at some ballpark somewhere in Louisiana but I do love it!! However I wish we lived close to a beach! I LOVE the beach and everything that comes with living near the shore…the smell of saltwater, seafood, the sound of the waves and the laid back atmosphere. When I win the lottery I’m definately moving!!!
so cute… they are so adorable esp baby P
I have to say it…
Can your kids get any cuter????
I used to take my kids to their favorite park to play. It had a climber that was shaped like a rocket and they loved it!
I love the beach! I live about an hour from it and can’t wait to visit again! Love your pictures!
