Stacie – Robbed at Gunpoint, now needs you

Last month Stacie hopped on the momdot forums and told us of her insane experience being robbed at gunpoint in the Bahamas. We were just flabbergasted. To top it off, she was on a blogger trip for Disney (first time ever I was glad I wasn’t invited!). They forced her to the ground and her entire tour group was robbed of all their IDs and money.

You can read about her experience here on her blog now.

For Stacie, it was terrifying thinking of her family at home and her children.

She hasn’t blogged much since then and I have recently learned she is having a hard time getting out of bed and recovering from the nightmares of the entire situation. I wont say I understand. I can’t understand what it would be like to be on the ground with a gun pointed at me, wondering if I would see Chris or Charlotte again.  It would most certainly make me never want to leave the house again and I rarely leave now.

It’s really affected her life.

Stacie is a wonderful person. I have met her many times at Blog events and she has a huge heart.

As a virtual friend its so hard to reach out to someone that needs a hug, but if you could leave her a comment here so we can send to her, blog about her with some love on your own space, or even leave her a comment on her site for when she returns, I am sure it wont go unnoticed.

  1. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know it may sound cliche, but “what doesn’t kill us can only make us stronger”, and I do believe that you will come out of this stronger than ever before.

Prayers that the nightmares will end and you can find peace. It’s hard after such a terrifying experience I know. I once had a gun held on me too. It is frightening. They/he didn’t want money though. I was only a teen at the time, but the violation is the same.

    Stacie… you’re in my thoughts. :)

  4. Thank you so much Trisha and everyone! I really appreciate the nice words.

I have had two nights of sleep that were good (thanks to my doctor and a prescription) and I am beginning to feel better.

Just seeing this post and the support from everyone (here and on Twitter) has been wonderful for me.

I think Stacie is awesome and it breaks my heart to know that she went through this and it’s affecting her in such a horrible way, can’t say it wouldn’t affect me the same way! I am sending Stacie a virtual hug! She needs a picker upper and to know we all luv her!

Stacie, words are almost failing me right now. First, I’m sorry that this happened to you. Second, post traumatic stress is the lesser evil in this case, your still alive. You still have your family and most importantly they still have you! I hope these few words can send you as much strength as possible. your family needs you. I had a fire in my home in April and most days I’m still afraid to use the stove, but I have been more often, the nightmares stop and the fear gets easier to curb over time. Hang in there sweetie! Best wishes. xoxo

  12. DG says:

That is so heartbreaking! My prayers go out to you Stacie! That is such a tough time and you’re brave to even be able to handle life and family overall!

  13. Stacie,
I’m so sorry that you had to experience such a traumatic experience. Why is it that bad things happen to good people … sometimes it seems like life just isn’t fair. You are probably going through post traumatic stress syndrome and your feelings of not being able to move forward are very real to you. I am a Life Coach and I would be happy to talk with you if you are interested. You can reach me at kfleonard3@gmail.com.

You will get through this, be strong!
