Blogging Conventions 2009

List of Mom Blogging Conventions (and then some)

I have had a hard time tracking down which conventions are good to go to  for mom bloggers and which bloggers are going to what. Of course for me, part of going to a convention is to meet the same girls I talk to day in and  day out, so its also important I’m making the connections with those I already talk to online. I have compiled a list of blogging conventions you may want to consider this year as a “mom blogger’, since I thought it would be helpful to those trying to decide as well.

I will be attending BlogHer09 this year. I can really only afford to go  to one. However, if someone out there wants to sponsor me, Ill wear your tshirt all weekend. LOL!

If you know about a convention that is good for mommy bloggers that I have missed in this list, let me know in the comments and Ill go to the site and add them.

bloggerBlogHer (July 23rd-25th) : Building on the momentum of four consecutive sold-out annual conferences, BlogHer ’09 will bring bloggers from every corner of the blogosphere together for hands-on learning, rich discussions, opportunities to meet with the brands that support them and plentiful networking opportunities. BlogHer ’09 will take place on July 23-25, bringing over one thousand attendees together to celebrate 2009’s theme: “In Real Life.”

One of the number one reasons we all attend BlogHer every year, whether coming for the first time or as an old-timer, is to meet our online community “in real life”. So after five years we think it’s a great time to celebrate the fact that our blogging, whether personal, professional or political, has brought us real work, real friends, real satisfaction and is most definitely a significant part of our real life!  BlogHer ’09 will be at the The Chicago Sheraton and Towers from July 23-25, 2009. We will kick off on Thursday July 23rd with out third annual BlogHer Business Conference, and will continue with the two-day 5th annual BlogHer Annual Conference on Friday and Saturday, July 24-25.

Fem2.0 (Feb 2nd, 2009)- Feminism 2.0 brings together the leadership of major women’s advocacy organizations and online women’s communities to further the connection between today’s issues and women’s voices. Feminism2.0 is intended for all women interested in better policy for women, families and society.

To harness the power of women on the Internet to promote women’s issues.

  • To create a forum – starting with the Fem2.0 website and continuing through the event – for women to discuss the issues that are of most concern to them today, and to encourage them to use the Internet to learn more, express their opinions about them and advocate for policies that benefit women and families.
  • To create an opportunity for a “meeting of minds” across generations and media platforms.
  • To unite women’s voices behind the issues that the vast majority of women support, such as education, healthcare, workplace fairness and economic security.
  • To position women’s issues and their advocates for the incoming administration.
  • To draw new audiences to women’s issues, especially those who are Internet-focused and can cross-pollinate to increase activism.
  • Expand the audience of women engaged in online media activity and activism.

SOBCon09 (May 1,2,3)- Using a unique Presentation/Workshop model, we’ll push theory into practice – the conference is designed to build solid action plans tailored to attendee’s individual needs.

On the main day, each speaker will present a 40-minute talk with a direct business application. Then attendee “mastermind” teams will work together for an additional 40 minutes to establish action steps for that part of their business. Through this process, attendees will compile and build a complete Business Action Plan by the end of the day

Florida Conference for Women( May 12th)- The non-partisan Conference, hosted in conjunction with the Florida Commission on the Status of Women, features nationally recognized speakers, presenters and panelists who are leaders in business, media, health, personal development and finance. In addition to the dynamic program, hundreds of exhibitors showcase a wide variety of products and services, providing a unique opportunity to connect like-minded individuals and organizations. Learn more about exhibiting at the Conference.

The Conference provides countless opportunities to connect with a dynamic community of women while also giving you the tools and resources to create the life and career you desire (and deserve!).

I love Houston & The Mom 2.0 Summit

Mom2Summit (Feb 19th-21st)-Join social media insiders, industry leaders and influential bloggers in sharing best practices. Discuss ways to create smarter web-based marketing, and discover social media tools that engage your audience and build relationships.

The Mom 2.0 Summit is a place for marketers, bloggers, and mompreneurs to get to know one another. A place to connect, converse, and build relationships. This year’s Summit discussions will focus on social media, marketing, networks, and brand building. We will explore what those relationships mean and how we all contribute to social media.

Of course, it isn’t all about work. This is a “social” conference, so we will have fun things planned and plenty of opportunities for you to network. We can’t wait to see you in February!

Great list of conventions for bloggers and moms. I’d love to go sometime to one,but the closest is in Vegas. I don’t see my husband giving me a break to go with two little ones at home all day. Maybe once they get older or we can go as a family.

Thanks for compiling this list, what about SXSW? Do you think it is worth it for mom bloggers to go? It looks interesting. And Blogworld Expo? These conferences branch out to all types of blogs but are likely to be very informative.

I listed BlogWorld Expo (first one) but i looked up the other one and it seemed a lot about music and other things. I just didnt see the benefit as a mommy blogger.

Okay, this may be a dumb question, but what’s the real cost involved in going to BlogHer? (costs for conference, hotel, meals, extras, etc.) And, (even dumber question coming up… now): Do I have to have BLogHer advertisements on my blog in order to attend?
Texan Mama’s last blog post..Where do you get your online music?

The conventions are for ANYONE and have nothing to do with being a part of their ad network.
Each convention has a different cost. BlogHer is $200 for the regular weekend fee (not business i think). If you click on the link it will show you. Its in chicago at the sheraton, i think its $199 a night.
Depending on if you fly, you will have to factor that in as well.

I am definitely going to BlissDom! I already have my reservations and a sponsor (thanks BSM Media!!) and everything!
