I had the most perfect opportunity a few months ago- I was contacted by Beth of the Boca Beth Program, which is a program designed to give your child the ability to be bilingual.
Here is a little bit about Boca Beth from their web site:

My favorite part of the CD is hearing my kids sing the songs on it. I mean they really LOVE to sing them and know the basic Spanish words. Whenever we get in the car they ask for the Spanish CD and then promptly ask me for the maracas. With the Boca Beth CD, they have learned the days of the week, colors, and so many other important Spanish words. The tunes that the words are set to are simple enough and the songs catchy enough for everyone to remember. I know that even though I’ve taken 5 years of Spanish in high school, I have now have learned a ton more words, or at very least, retained them better myself.

My young kids have really learned a lot from the cartoons that teach some Spanish and I think they’d really benefit by taking the next step.
So far out of our 5 kids 3 want to work with the public. Our oldest wants to be a police officer and is taking HS spanish, our 9 y/o wants to be a Dr and really needs to know Spanish to have that level of care for his patients and kiddo #3 wants to be a teacher and will most likely have ESL children.
Learning a second language would be very helpful because we live in an area that has a very diverse population.
Learning a second language is important for my son since we live in an area where there is a high Spanish speaking population and I want him to be able to communicate with others in our community. Also, I see what a great asset it is to be bilingual when it comes to marketing yourself for a job!
It is very important for my grandson because his dad was born in Mexico and he doesn’t know any Spanish. I think he should learn the language and this is the best way. It would be fun. Thank you!
From the Site: Research has shown that second language study offers many benefits to students in terms of improved communicative ability, cognitive development, cultural awareness and job opportunities.
We speak 2 languages in our home, pretty much my whole family here speaks 2 languages. So it would be great to teach the kids as well. My niece is brazil born and understands english, arabic and portuguese which i am truely amazed by- Shes not even 3.
I think learning a second language would be important to my son so that he can talk to the part of our family who is from Portugal and do not speak English. Thanks for the chance.
The College Entrance Examination Board reports that students who had averaged four or more years of second language study scored higher on the math and verbal sections of the SAT than those who had studied four or more years of any other subject.
That alone is a great reason to teach our kids a second language. I have a lot of relatives who speak Spanish, although my mother didn’t teach me as a child, I wish she did

Learning another language can aid in learning our own language and in the usage of our language. We also believe in missions and being able to speak in someone else’s native language aids in that effort.
A child learning a second language helps cognitive development and also communicative ability. When a child learns a second language young, they often can speak with native ability.
Studies show that learning a second language improves your child’s thinking and problem solving abilities. Also, we are living in a global market, so a second language can help them excel in the job market.
