I am sitting here drinking a Dr. Pepper and eating a piece of chocolate cake.
My Dh said I must confess that I dug this cake out of the trash or he will blog about it. It should have never been IN the trash. Every few days he goes nut-so on the fridge and throws things away he determines we are not going to eat.
He threw away this perfectly good piece of cake, still in the plastic container, because it was a “week” old.
Does chocolate frosting go bad? I think not.
I prefer to think of it as not wasting food rather than digging it out of the trash. There are starving kids in other parts of the world that would kill a boar for this cake. Somebody slaved for a wage of probably $8 an hour for this cake.
Besides, my butt will thank me later.

Too funny! That is def. something I would do.
LOL that is what I would do, it would be so sad to see all that glorious chocolate go to waist LOL
I have it on good authority that a can of cake frosting has a shelf life of 4 to 5 months. Maybe longer. I wouldn’t know for sure because I dug it out of the trash and ate it while sitting on my kitchen floor.
Sobbing.
LOL OK, as a cake decorator I will tell you that a frosted cake is perfectly good for a week OUT of the fridge, so it was clearly still good IN the fridge.
Besides, if he didn’t think it was going to be eaten, it could have gone in the freezer and been good for a long, long time. Just waiting for that day when he desperately needs to throw some chocolate your way to save his life.
oh no, that is something my husband would do…now if it was vanilla bean, I might be tempted to go dumpster diving for it.
You have a point, There are people in other parts of the world who are staving so one shouldn’t waste food, especially if its still edible.
And Its CHOCOLATE cake, how dare he throw it out!!!! that being said.. can i have a cupcake?
Cupcakes and a big pieces of chocolate cake are not quite the same thing.
LOL
NEVER throw away chocolate! What is wrong with men?
I have one son who will throw anything out if it is past the “sell by” date. Is it a guy thing?
I’m reminded of a certain episode of Seinfeld…
In my defense there are freshly baked cupcakes on the counter.
