Lily had a day off of school last week, so I decided to take off from work and have a Mommy/Daughter day.  I asked Lily what she wanted to do and she decided she wanted to get her nails done at the salon (but in her New Orleans accent it sounded more like sa-LAWN).  I have no idea how she knows about the salon because I do not go often, but I called a local spa and asked about their services.

They actually offer a “Pretty in Pink” package, which consists of a mani and pedi for girls ages 10 and under for a very reasonable price.  My Mom decided to join us and treated us all to our mani/pedi sessions!  I couldn’t wait for our Girls’ Day Out and Lily was just as excited!

We arrive at the sa-LAWN at about 11:00am for our manicures.  Fortunately, Lily picks a pale pink color and sits very still, almost mesmerized by the whole experience.  She was finished pretty quickly so she had about 10 minutes of down time before I my manicure was complete.  To occupy herself, she starts doing some sort of interpretive twirl dance around the manicure tables to the piped in inspirational music.  There was no one else there, so I let her have some freedom and enjoy herself.  The spa staff flooded her with compliments and really spoiled her.

Apparently, Act II of her interpretive dance included making farting noises with her armpit.  OH.MY.GOODNESS.  I about died of embarrassment.  Where did she learn to do THAT?  And WHY did she decide to display this newfound talent in a sa-LAWN!!!!

I guess 4 years old is too young for the first spa experience.  Maybe we will try again next year.

But, my toes do look fabulous! :)
