Cart Stopper Review (And Poll)

Like the bad person I am, I had this review from last month and totally spaced with the holidays. So I really thank Cart-Stopper for their patience and for letting me do a test drive with the product during the busy holidays.

Its important to me to share Mom made products with other moms. Not only to support new businesses, but to allow moms like me to find the best for their own families with as little searching as possible.

About the creation of Cart-Stopper:

About one year ago, I began my usual routine of going to the grocery store with my two sons, Kai (then 1 year old) and River (then 2 years old).  I unloaded Kai from his car seat and placed him in the double-seated grocery cart.  I then began to unbuckle River’s car seat belts when I heard a man yell, “Hey lady…your baby!”  I looked up to witness my son Kai rolling into traffic and striking a car waiting for a parking spot!  I was extremely frightened, embarrassed and so thankful that he wasn’t hit by a car or that the cart didn’t tip over.  As soon as I got home, I immediately told my husband about the ordeal and began to search everywhere for a product that would secure my grocery cart next to my vehicle while I load/unload my children and groceries.  Surprisingly, we couldn’t find a product that effectively solved this problem.  That was when we knew we had to do something about this extremely dangerous problem so that it would not happen again to me or any other guardian.

When I first saw this product, I was actually surprised it hadn’t been thought of before. Isn’t that how it always is?  I felt a big fat “DOH” moment (think Homer Simpson here). What a welcome, and long overdue, sight it was. I had recently experienced my own cart drifting away so this wasn’t something that I was blind to myself.

We have all been there, bringing up the groceries, ($200 full if your just leaving Walmart), and inevitably the parking lot is sloped and your trying to balance the cart from hitting your car, rolling away, getting the groceries in, and telling Charlotte to SIT DOWN..oh, just me? Maybe just that Charlotte part, but I am sure you have been in a situation where the cart is rolling while your working on your groceries.

First off, its dangerous. Its dangerous for you, for your child, for your car getting rolled into or risk damaging another car. One thing I don’t like to do is put Charlotte in the car when I am by myself. I am afraid ill be putting groceries away and someone will hijack the car with my kid in it. Call me paranoid mama.  I usually keep her with me in the cart so its just as important to keep her NEAR me.

yhst-82789706671146_2033_599455This ingenious little device, available in three colors, hooks your cart…to your car! With just a push and a clip, your safe to finish your loading or unloading without any risk to your car or your child. And for $9.95, its affordable enough for any family to take advantage of that safety.

The Cart-Stopper is also small enough to tuck away wherever you see fit- a diaper bag or purse of course, but in my opinion, is best right in the trunk. You open your car, grab it, secure your cart, and get your groceries done. Then put your child in the car, unhook your cart, and voila, perfection.

The only problem I potentially see, is that the part that suctions to your vehicle has to be on a clean surface to hold securely. Often times our car has been running around and if its too full of dirt, the suction wont be as secure. Obviously, that’s a user error though, but a fair one to point out.

You can purchase on Cart-Stoppers website, check out how they were listed on the Best Products Media Guide, and completely receive our two thumbs up for practicality, safety, and budget friendly.

OUR TIP: Pack one of these up next time your looking for a great baby shower gift!

Cool! I’d say just keep some baby wipes or a roll of paper towels in the trunk to help with the dirty car problem! I’ll have to keep that in mind when I have kidlets!

Got a cartstopper a month ago and it’s always with me when I shop. It has NEVER failed me due to the fact that I swipe clean a spot on my truck with my hand before I stick it on. It takes a split second and it always holds. Hand gets a bit of dirt on it, but my two sons are worth it.

I could really use one of these. When and I only mean when because I am insane to try it too often, but when I do take all 3 kids out (four and under) shopping is a nightmare. I am so the SIT DOWN NOW mom. As for the dirty care issue mine is like that as well, but I could always just wipe a spot clean with something found in the back of my car. There seems to always be something back there.

You know, I didn’t REALLY think before I voted. my initial thought was, no I would never use this…but it just dawned on me that when grocery shopping I’m going to have two little ones in the cart and can only take them out one at a time, which leaves the cart free to either roll away or bash my car. So I change my vote…I will look into this one deeper after our baby comes.

I have had rolling cart issues while try to load the car with groceries with my kids in the cart, or one kid in the cart that keeps rolling away while trying to get the other hooked in his car seat etc. Granted, it doesn’t happen too often but when it does it is so ANNOYING. That is a nifty gadget.

I won one of these a few weeks ago and LOVE it. I too have two little ones and have to put one in while the other is still in the cart. A great gadget indeed! Love it.
