Blast Zone Rock Crawler Combo Bouncer: WIN!

Loving that holidays are closing in but not loving the bills I am accumulating trying to get all my favorite people a few of their favorite things! I am sure you understand what I am talking about, so I wanted to bring you a fun and exciting contest that will surely make you the most popular mom, dad, or grandparent of the entire neighborhood!

Introducing the

Blast Zone Rock Crawler combo bouncer

The Blast Zone Rock Crawler combo bouncer is ready to rumble! This is the Biggest Blast Zone Combo!

Crawl on in through the Rock Crawler Bouncer’s front wheel, and get ready for a rocking good time!  Up to 6 Kids can play safely with the Huge 18x11x7 Rock Crawler Bouncer at once.

The Rock Crawler combo has tons of fun features to keep boys and girls entertained for hours: a ball pit in the engine compartment area, a crawl tunnel tire, a large bouncer in the cab and a 2-kid-wide tailgate slide.

Our house has had its share of bounce houses and water slide bounce houses and I have to tell you that they never grow old. No matter the age Charlotte has been when we had one, she has thoroughly enjoyed them. Unfortunately I had to sell mine last year because the HOA made us get rid of our storage shed. Then I had no room to store them.

SUPER SAD PANDA

Honestly, I wish I had a bounce house now because P would be in heaven!

How to restore your car headlights! (and giveaway!)

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pep Boys for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

This week with Hurricane Sandy on the lose up in the northeast, it should remind us all that safety is our number one priority when it comes to our family and self. Being in the house is one thing, but being on the road requires extra caution and care and you can start that at home with doing a few things with your own vehicle to give you that extra detail for safety.

I am sure you didn’t know, because I didn’t, but October is Headlight Safety Month.

Pep Boys logo.JPG (3 documents, 3 total pages)

No time like the present to inspect your headlights and address dim light bulbs, burned out lights, and hazy headlights that make visibility difficult when on the road. And with Halloween just days away and dark coming sooner and sooner, there is no time more important than now to make sure you can see every child that is out on the road at night.

In the past on our own vehicles we have paid to get our headlights restored to their newer luster but recently I had a chance to test out the 3M™ Headlight Lens Restoration System and used that to test out the fading lights on my babysitters new, but used, car.

The 3M™ Headlight Lens Restoration Kit

3M.jpg (4 documents, 4 total pages)

No Tools Required comes at a fraction of the cost of professional cleanings and is one example how 3M, a staple in automotive solutions for more than 90 years, is constantly seeking simple ways to improve, restore and protect your vehicle.

  • -Easy-to-use kit that restores the clarity of yellowed, hazed, or dull headlight lenses
  • -No tools required – just elbow grease
  • -Works easily on most plastic lenses, including taillights, trailers, snowmobiles, emergency vehicle light bars, plastic motorcycle lights and more

Tips: The kit was easy to use. It mainly consists of sanding out the yellow and scratches and using a compound to fill in and make a better and more clear sheen. My strongest two tips are to wear clothing that you don’t mind “dust” on (as you can see in the photo it gets on your clothing) and two, to read the directions first. It helps to have it all laid out and ready instead of stopping in between to read the steps. While this process is only about 15-20 minutes long at most, we did it out in the cold and wind and it took longer so I don’t recommend that.

Our Process:

The kit works not only on headlights, but other uses are emergency vehicle lights, plastic lights, trailers, and tail lights!   Right now you can pick up the 3m Headlight Lens Restoration System in Pep Boys stores and also recieve a great mail in rebate.

Win your own Restoration Kit!

It may not be something you think about a lot, but this is a great gift for anyone in your household. To enter to win a kit of your own, leave a comment below and tell me “why” you need a kit! Additionally, all fans of Pepboys gain an entry and you can leave in the comments if you “like” them on facebook.

How we Count on Carter’s (and giveaway!)

Chances are if you visit here at all you know that Carter’s is one of my favorite brands. Out of all my songs clothing, Carter’s actually dominates about 85% of my household purchases. And its not that surprising considering how we Count on Carter’s for all of our yearly needs. With onesies perfect for summer or winter, one pieces, separates, and adorable jackets, I know that whatever I buy I will be happy with when it arrives.

Truth be told my favorite kind of outfits for both my daughter (when she was a baby) and my son are the one piece outfits. I find them so easy to just grab, put on, and they work perfectly every time. But as Phoenyx gets older, I can definitely appreciate the ability to change those diapers with a wiggly worm of a child in separates. Either way, I can always count on some adorable outfits that cause people to go “where did you get that?” when we are out.

The irony is that before I had a son I was totally convinced there was NOTHING cute in the boys department.

I can eat those words now…check out this “awww” factor:

Hanging around the house with daddy

Running in the yard

Playing peekaboo

Then again, I may be biased but he looks cute doing just about anything.

Being a mom is a very rewarding experience.

It has to be because if it wasn’t, how could we survive the first 18 years of it and truth be told, how would we ever get past the one child to have more??

Welcome back to school. Your kid is sick.

Today Charlotte is home.

Sick.

Or at least feverish, which is mostly sick. She said she went to the office yesterday because she felt hot when everyone else was cold but she had “no fever” so they sent her back to class. Funny, cause when she got home she was burning up and took a two hour nap. She still felt bad this morning so I kept her home, one of the privileges of a work at home parent, and she must be getting back to her normal annoying self, because she is now sitting in the living room playing some sort of Xbox game that I know nothing about.

Now I hate when I have a sick kid. A hurt kid. A kid that doesn’t even feel slightly well. It makes me feel all sorts of mom guilt. I hate not being able to fix it and the look they get when they are pathetically curled up in a ball on the couch or asking if they can “sleep with you”. But I can give you a little secret…Band-Aids make everything feel better.

Even a fever…

Band-Aids have this unique power to make kids feel like things are…well…better.

So I covered Charlotte in them today.

Which was all fun and games till we took them off….

So here are a few tips to remove Band-Aids a little more painlessly than I did…(which was the rip it off method..hahahhahaa)

And with school starting, aside from the sickness and fevers you will probably be dealing with at some point, there will also be cuts, scrapes, scratches and bruises, so keep your first aid kit full of Neosporin and Band-Aids for your little one!

If you like these, I used Muppets.

Cause Muppets are awesome.

Nuff said.

BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages featuring The Muppets.  These bandages feature your favorite Muppets characters in their usual wacky and wild poses! They are available on Amazon.com and at mass retailers with a suggested retail price of $2.99.

NEOSPORIN® First Aid Antibiotic Ointment.  NEOSPORIN® heals wounds two days faster and provides long-lasting infection protection to help minimize the appearance of scars from cuts and scrapes.  Available at mass retailers with a suggested retail price of $8.99

BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages with QUILTVENT® Technology.  The new technology creates air channels to let wounds breathe even better than before, while still protecting from dirt and germs. It also wicks away fluid to keep wounds clean.  Suggested retail price may vary.

WIN WIN WIN

Now to get all you parents out there ready for this school year, I am giving you a start to your own First Aid Kit, stocked with essentials to keep on hand for the playground, including NEOSPORIN® antibiotic ointment, new BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages with QuiltVent® technology and Muppets BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages.  Valued at $40!!

I know you are thinking “Band-Aids, Trisha? Why would I enter a contest for those?” Cause its the MOST PRACTICAL THING YOU CAN WIN. You will need it at some point, probably today or tomorrow and you will be so glad to get a pack with some cutesy ones that will save you an emergency trip to the store when your little one raids your cabinets for them.

Right? Right.

Oh, and Muppets. MUPPETS, Y’ALL!

Plus, I do not host many contests and it would make me feel good to have you enter. Good deed.

Win a Kindle Fire HD

You all know that I read a ton. A TON!

In fact I just put 8 books on order a few days ago that should be here any day now from Amazon. Everyone is always surprised that I don’t have a Kindle or read with an e-reader. The truth is that I actually like to read and since I work on the computer all day, I didn’t want my reading time to feel like work.

Truth be told I also like the feel of a book in my hand …oh, and I read in the bathtub and water isn’t exactly conducive to something electronic.

In any case, I know that many people would LOVE to have a Kindle Fire HD. They are cool little gadgets for sure! We bought one for my MIL and my mom both just this year for Mothers Day.  So this month I have teamed up with 13 wonderful bloggers to bring you this awesome giveaway! We’ve all pitched in a little moola to give one of you hard working people a Grand Prize win of a Kindle Fire HD!

Do your kids play online? (Contest)

When I was in 5th grade, kids were just learning to type in extra curricular classes at school….on black screens and green text.  In fact, computers were still pretty rare in homes, but my family was lucky to have one. And don’t hate, but we totally had AOL and Prodigy.

Oregon Trail and Where in the World is Carmen San Diego were about the only games out. And darn it all if influenza didn’t kill you 2 miles from your destination, am I right?

Things sure have come a long way since then.

Kids now have iPods and iPads and iPhones and Facebook and email and an unlimited supply of apps to dig themselves into. In my home alone, we have an HP, iMac, iPad1, iPad2, iPod, and 2 iPhones. I wont even get into the Xbox, blu-ray, etc. etc.

It can be seriously overwhelming when you think about it. I don’t want to limit my daughter from the technology of her time, but I still need to monitor her for age appropriate intake and find positive ways to be a part of what she is doing while she is exploring all the online options. Lucky for our family, Charlotte is one of those kids that prefers to play with you instead of without you. We are a total family of co-play.

Especially with a baby at home that takes up so much of our time, we have to make sure that Charlotte is getting one on one time with each parent in a capacity that she feels taken care of and has fun as well. Today, for example, we went off to the water park and took turns taking her on slides. Although during the week I often teach her to cook and we work on crafts and her daddy spends an hour outside every evening running the dog or playing soccer, there is also a lot of indoor time as well. We live in the south and aside from the hot and humid weather, we are also dealing with summer storms. We have to find things to do and do together.

So back to technology. Our family craves safe and fun ways for Charlotte to explore online when there are so many options to get into trouble elsewhere. Recently she has been enjoying Webkinz. Chances are you already know what they are, but if not, here is a little help:

What is Webkinz World?

  • The original kids’ online world, Webkinz World introduced the concept of web-enabled toys.  Webkinz pets are stuffed animals that combine the timeless fun of plush with the interactivity of the Internet.  Members adopt pets, go on quests, decorate rooms, play games & quizzes and create rooms and ‘chat’ within a controlled environment.
  • Webkinz is FREE to play

What is a Webkinz Pet?

  • Webkinz pets are lovable plush pets that each come with a unique Secret Code that lets you enter Webkinz World and play with a virtual version of your pet.
  • (editors note:) Webkinz Pets do not require you to actually clean out a littler box or use a pooper scooper in the back yard…this is why this mom enjoys this version better
  • Webkinz World is NOW totally free to play! Your purchase of the animal only allows a different avatar.

How to get Started with Webkinz

  • You can play on Facebook (intended for adults/teens)
  • You can play on the website (more for kids)
  • If you get a free-to-play account, you can send adopt a kitty or puppy.

But I don’t have a Webkinz Pet and I really want my child to play!

  • You are in luck. I have a great giveaway for you to be the coolest parent on the planet and WIN one right here on MomDot!!
