I seriously hate this Motorola piece of crap.
When you get the “free” phone with a cell contract, it should still work, right? Judging by this phone…….that’s a big fat negative.
Do they think if they give me the crappiest piece of crappity crap I am going to get so frustrated that I go out and buy the newest little IPhone touchamagigy?
Listen up: I am too cheap for that. I don’t want a cell phone that wipes my rear end. I want one that makes a PHONE CALL. I refuse to pay $400+ to dial up my grandmother. My computer cost $800…..my Computer. How the heck can a PHONE cost $400. I have seen a full 120 Gig CPU, Flat Screen monitor and a printer for $400 at walmart.
Do it. Just call me. I wont answer. Know why? Cause the CALL will DROP the minute I pick it up. The majority of my phone calls are now on Skype. That is just the sad, sad truth.
Somewhere between static and “what? huh? what? are you there?”, you will hang up on me. My friends don’t even call me anymore.
I have been to the cell office and they swear up and down nothing is wrong with the phone and its not their amazing coverage. I am not “eligible” for an “upgrade” till July unless I want to pay $300. WTF. Upgrade? I just want something that works.
My phone does not do text, it doesn’t take pictures, it has no apps, and it doesn’t do a dance for me, it doesn’t sing me to bed at night.
Can someone recommend a phone I don’t have to bargain off my first born child or sign away $500 and the next 10 years of my life to put in my back pocket that can still take a phone call?
Phones have been around since the 1800′s. We seriously have to have better technology than this.

I completely understand what you guys are saying!!! I have been going through so many problems with my cellphone companies and every time I try to get out of my contract I get stuck with fees and bills that I never knew I had to pay. Learn how to kick those fees. Check out this website that completely helped me!! http://www.celldefense.com
Trisha, thanks for the post. When your contract is up in July, check out , a company I work with. It provides nationwide cellular service that is inexpensive and does not require contracts. You can get a simple, reliable phone that just makes and receives phone calls without the bells and whistles you don’t need. Also, with no contracts you won’t have to sign away a single day of your life. You can cancel within the first 30 days or 30 minutes of use if the phone isn’t right for you, and you get your money back.
I have an LG that has been dropped, stepped on, spit up on, dropped into the toilet and throw across a room on to tiled floors by a 1 year old. I love this thing; it has never failed me. That being said my husband left his iphone on the taillight of the Jeep this morning, drove 5 miles to work in the rain and it was still on the taillight and still works.
I had a few Motorola phones. None worked. Well, ONE worked, but it farted out fast.
LG has been my best friend. Love them and it’s the only phone I GET service on.
I have the Samsung Gravity but I do NOT recommend it. They admittedly have battery problems and they had to send me a new battery which is working so far, but it still doesn’t last very long.
The first battery (that came with the phone) would be full bars, then an hour later only have one bar, then battery left after another half an hour.
I’ve got Tmobile. I have been with Tmobile for almost the past ten years. I bought this phone because it came with a $50 rebate, that was last November, IM STILL WAITING FOR THE REBATE. I’ve called Tmobile twice, emailed them several times and still NOTHING.
I’m going to call them again and tell them I’m changing service if they don’t give me the rebate. Is that wrong? they advertised a rebate why should I just let it go?
NEVER BUY MOTOROLA. sorry I had to yell. they are complete garbage and have no lasting power. So if you don’t want to be replacing phones, don’t buy one. Who is your company and if you posted it, I missed it.
See if anyone has an old phone that they are no longer using that they can send to you. Then you just go in to your provider and ask them to activate that phone with your plan. Then you don’t have to pay anything for a new phone.
I had a RAZR and it lasted all of 2 months. I dropped it once and it was gone. I’ll never buy another Motorola. I have a blackberry pearl and LOVE it. I’ve had it just over a year, and it’s been perfect. And I’ve dropped it a LOT. I actually got it free when we signed our contract. (I know Walmart does this deal.) So sorry your phone has been so cruddy for you. I also can’t believe how much they will charge for phones these days.

That’s funny. When my dad was a dispatcher for a cement company he did everything he could to kill his phone and the only thing that killed it was throwing it in the quarry when he got fed up one day. He even dropped it off the crane and it didn’t break. The back just popped off and the battery fell out.
I honestly believe the freebies are made to die long before your contract is up so that you are up the creek. My cell phone just randomly turns off. I’ll be talking, look down, it’s not even on! Holding on the phone for Disney World for 15 minutes, they finally pick up, mid-conversation, my phone cuts off. I think my phone is on, look down, it’s off, & everyone & their dog has been trying to call me. Love it.
We have had the misfortune of having 12 new phones in the last 5 years. My husband works construction and apparently even the sturdy Mike phones can’t survive being dropped 20 feet.
We’ve bought some phones off of Ebay which has saved us a lot of money.
All the reviews I’ve read on Motorolas say they suck donkey balls. I’m not sure who your provider is, but we have Verizon, and I just get the newest version of my LG phone that’s free when we’re up for our “new every 2.” I currently have the LG-VX8350 in red. I’ve dropped it repeatedly – in shallow puddles, my 2yo has made off with it while it’s charging, and it’s been other wise beaten and abused and it still works. I’m like you, I just want a phone that makes phone calls. I thought I was the only person left who felt taht way.
My husband loves Motorola! He has a Razr V3xx now, but he’s always had a Motorola phone of some sorts. He loves them so much that when we upgraded our plan a few months ago he got the exact same phone as his old one, just so he could keep his old one as a backup in case he runs over his AGAIN.
I have a Sony Ericsson W760a and I’m not loving it. The speaker went out on it after only 6 weeks, but before I could call and get it replaced under the warranty my oldest son dropped it in cooking oil. I wiped it off the best I could and it still works, even though oil keep seeping out of it, so I guess it’s not too bad of a phone. I just bought a headset for it and use it since the speaker is crap.
My MIL has a Samsung X497 SLV that’s 3 or 4 years old that she won’t even upgrade from because it’s easy to use and works great.
One of my roommates has a LG Shine that he thinks is the greatest phone ever. My other roommate has a Samsung BlackJack that he really likes, but he ordered an older version of the Sony Ericsson that I have off eBay for some reason.
It just shows that everyone has their own preferences with cell phones.
I have a Blackberry. Love it
First of all your cell phone company is full of it. If it’s not the phone or their service then what exactly is it. LOL
I told my husband the same thing why in the world does a cell phone cost so much when you can buy a TV, computer, time machine for that much money. It makes no friggin sense.
I only buy Samsung phones. Right now I have the Samsung Impression. I love love love it!
I so am not going to be any help on this…I went from a Motorola SLVR (that I loved), to a Palm Centro (that I also loved), to an Apple iPhone (which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!) I am also cheap, but addicted to technology. (Soooo want a MAC laptop, but that will be quite awhile.) My iPhone is refurbished, and I was planning on selling my one week old replacement Centro (my 1st one had a minor defect) for $100 to make the cost of the iPhone $100. I haven’t sold it yet in case anyone is interested…*hint, hint*
Motorola’s make horrible cell phones, I always had good luck with
LG models.
I have a Mortala also and it is the biggest piece of poop I have ever had ! I get calls and Im like whatever , cause they drop all the time! I to cant get a new one til nov. So i called my company and told them Im not wiling to pay my plan cause I cant use it anyways. and I dropped my plan from 80 a month to 10 ! Im not giving them anymore money then I need to give themm. I have the Motorola V3 RAZR
Oh how I love you.
