Charlotte got hurt today

Today was one of those Oh Crap! moments.

Chris and Charlotte were outside cleaning out the car and I walked out to ask for the vacuum or something and Chris followed me back in to grab the power-cord. We were 30 seconds in the house and he was in the garage grabbing the power cord and he heard Charlotte scream from outside and comes flying through the house “Charlotte’s Hurt! Charlotte’s Hurt!” and I dropped my bag of pasta in the kitchen and ran after him.

He is bringing her in and she is screaming her head off. I knew it wasn’t going to be good.

Apparently she was sitting in the car and had her hand on the seal of the door and the wind caught the car door and closed on her hand. Her whole hand was dented in and purple. It looked terrible.

She didn’t stop crying for at-least 45 minutes, a movie rental, and one ice cream cone later. After some major icing the swelling started going down and we determined there was nothing broken that required hospital attention.

Of course I’m still paying off her last ER visit from December.

This girl may be the death of me.

After awhile she told me that the door slammed closed on her hand and she couldn’t get the door open to get her hand out.  She is one tough cookie and she was quick witted in the situation because on the second try she got it  open. Even though she was hurt, she fought through it at the moment.

Only by the grace of God did it not result in 5 broken fingers.

I think I am going to have to put her in a bubble..anyone know a website that sells those?

So glad she’s ok! That happened to me when I was a senior in high school. My dad and I were jumping my car and the door closed on my hand and the car moved with me running along side. My dad felt so bad. I lived.

Hugs to you and Chris, nothing worse than hearing your baby yell and cry in pain.

  2. Poor thing! Hope her fingers are feeling better. I just yelled at DS tonight over this. he has a thing about trying to close the sliding doors on the van. I’m scared to death of this happening.

Poor Charlotte! I know how she feels, and it hurts!

I remember when I was in 5th or 6th grade, we were getting in the car and I was scooting over so my brother and his friend could get in the back seat with me. I was holding on to the side of the car, when my mom shut the door, completely closing it on my hand.

I calmly said, “Mom, you shut my hand in the door.”

She actually said, “Shut up, Tracye!”

Shocked, I looked at my brother and started crying. He yelled, “MOM! Her hand is in the door!”

She thought I was trying to trick her, because of how calm I was… until she didn’t believe me and I started screaming! It freaking hurt!

Poor baby. She deserves an ice cream cone!
