Today was one of those Oh Crap! moments.
Chris and Charlotte were outside cleaning out the car and I walked out to ask for the vacuum or something and Chris followed me back in to grab the power-cord. We were 30 seconds in the house and he was in the garage grabbing the power cord and he heard Charlotte scream from outside and comes flying through the house “Charlotte’s Hurt! Charlotte’s Hurt!” and I dropped my bag of pasta in the kitchen and ran after him.
He is bringing her in and she is screaming her head off. I knew it wasn’t going to be good.
Apparently she was sitting in the car and had her hand on the seal of the door and the wind caught the car door and closed on her hand. Her whole hand was dented in and purple. It looked terrible.
She didn’t stop crying for at-least 45 minutes, a movie rental, and one ice cream cone later. After some major icing the swelling started going down and we determined there was nothing broken that required hospital attention.
Of course I’m still paying off her last ER visit from December.
This girl may be the death of me.
After awhile she told me that the door slammed closed on her hand and she couldn’t get the door open to get her hand out. She is one tough cookie and she was quick witted in the situation because on the second try she got it open. Even though she was hurt, she fought through it at the moment.
Only by the grace of God did it not result in 5 broken fingers.
I think I am going to have to put her in a bubble..anyone know a website that sells those?

that happened to my son the other day but he was messing with the door after i told him to leave it alone (hes brain dead *eyeroll*) and it closed on half his hand. he’s lucky it didnt cut his hand off… i swear. kids are walking disasters but we’re always there to kiss the booboo’s. glad your girl is ok though
Aw poor thing! I’m glad she is okay
I truly believe our kids keep our hearts nice and healthy by scaring the CRAP out of us now and then. I have a pretty accident prone child myself and know all too well that stomache-in-your-feet feeling when you hear them scream. Yikes! Glad this was a ‘phew’ moment this time!
YEEEOOOWWW–CH! (or however you spell it)! I *know* that hurts! (If you find a place that sells bubbles, let us know.)
Ouch! That would even hurt an adult. Poor thing.
Poor girlie! I’m glad she’s ok!
Glad she is Ok. Poor thing.
I also want to put Ro in a bubble. Remember that movie from the late 70′s with John Travolta? The Boy in the Plastic Bubble? Yeah, I totally want to put Ro in one of those. Maybe we should put our heads together and come up with a design? We’d be rich! LOL
Oh no! I’m so glad she’s ok! Poor thing!
WOW. That is terrible. Glad to hear all is ok. That is awesome to hear nothing is broken and she fought through the pain. She sounds tougher then me because I am a total wimp.
Doors scare me. I trapped my fingers in a door hinge in college…no alcohol involved. My middle daughter had a wart frozen off on one of her fingers. The very next day her sister closed the deck door on her finger in a door. Yes, it was THAT finger.
