Charlottes Eyes…any idea?

Any idea whats wrong?

They are kinda draining and are red all around her skin. Its not a sunburn. It just started happening yesterday so we haven’t gone to the dr yet.

I am wondering if anyone recognizes the symptoms?

  1. Hmmm. My daughter has had pink eye a couple of times but it never affected the skin around her eyes. I would take her to the doc.

I am not sure whats wrong with the poor baby, but I hope she feels better! :)

  3. I had this recently. I’ve also had pink eye in the past and it never got swollen, just red and itchy.

When my eyelid swelled, like Charlotte’s, I was told it was an allergic reaction to something and I was prescribed antibiotics. The antibiotics cleared it.

I hope you find the answers you’re looking for here or at the doctors office.

Usually with pink eye they have yellowish drainage and will be itchy and sore. Keep your hands and hers CLEAN!!! If it is pink eye its very contagious!!!

  5. It looks like she’s having an allergic reaction to something, possibly even a hayfever allergy.

  6. Kasandria says:

If it is pink eye makes sure she washes her hands after she touches her eye and try not to touch the other or it will spread. And don’t let her touch your eyes either. They have some OTC meds for pink eye, but she may be too young for them. Try the pharmacy and ask.

I would say allergy to something. My kiddo gets that in the fall and spring.

  8. Angela H says:

With my now 2 year old we were told he had pink eye 10 times in a matter of just a couple months, turns out it was not pink eye, he was just allergic to our cat and to febreeze. His eyes looked the that and benedryl did not help for him. The only thing that helped were eye drops to clear away the yuckys and to keep the cat away from him (we eventually had to give him away) and keep all febreeze and products containing febreeze away.

  9. I’d say conjunctivitis (or pink eye) … my eldest has this right now. She has no “goopy” gross stuff, but her eye is red, swollen and constantly teary. She’s on an antibiotic which seems to be helping.

  10. Jenna says:

If it’s red or “goopy” in her eye, I would say pink eye but I also agree it looks like allergies to something. Any bumps like a bug bite?

  11. Stacey says:

I’d guess allergies too. My eyes get itchy and red like that when I’m having a bad allergic reaction. Try some Benadryl and see if it gets better. It won’t hurt anything if it’s not allergies.

  12. Cindy H. @lifeonprint says:

Allergies for sure.. new soap, shampoo, pets got into dust or dirt? She got around something real dusty? (dust mites) New anything? (toys, food, strawberries?) Give her children’s Benadryl to see if that helps? ‘caise if it does then you know for sure it’s allergies. :)

  13. Gena Morris says:

allergies, pink eye or clogged tear duct is all I got.

  14. Oh wow, Jake is allergic to everything and we haven’t seen that kind of reaction so far…

  15. Looks like pink eye or allergies. When I was little my allergies were so bad that my eyes would puff up and ooze so much, that they’d get stuck closed. It was gross and painful. It does look like it could be pink eye, but the way it’s puffing and they way her eyes look real glassy is making me think it’s allergies. Put a hot towel on her eyes. That always helped with mine, and that’ll help either way. Whether is is pink eye, allergies, or something else, a hot towel on them will help them stay clean of ooze and make the swelling go down. You might also give her a Benadryl and see if it goes down some.

  16. Melissa says:

Maybe pinkeye? Can’t see from the pics how swollen they actually are. Could also be allergies. Ragweed is pretty high until late November, so if she’s sensitive to other things, it’s a possibility.

  17. Courtney says:

did she say if they are itchy, burning?
