Dancing Duo!
Dance has always been a huge part of my life. At 2 years old, my Mom put me in dance classes as a last desperate attempt to enroll me in SOMETHING to socialize with kids my age. I hated nursery school, swim class and pretty much anything that involved leaving my Mom’s hip. The first day of dance class, I walked in and never looked back.
Through the years, I became very involved in my dance studio. At thirteen, I joined the Competitive Team and began travelling to compete across the country. I cannot tell you how much this experience did for my self esteem! Dance is not only a great form of exercise, but it teaches team work, perseverance, courage and commitment. At sixteen, I completed the teacher’s course and became certified to teach. After assisting classes for several years, I became an Instructor and the new Choreographer/Director for the Competitive Team. It has been extraordinarily satisfying to give young girls the same rewarding experience that was givien to me. Watching my students perform on stage is truely a magical experience. Today, I am teaching an advanced adult tap class.
My oldest daughter, Lily, began dance last year and you can only imagine my excitement! I hoped that she would fall in love with it like I did. Sure enough, after performing on stage in June, she is completely hooked.
This weekend, I am taking Lily to see the Nutcracker. I cant wait to see her face light up when she sees the beautiful ballerinas and incredible costumes! I am hoping that this becomes a tradition that we will share for many years to come.

What are some holiday traditions you are looking forward to sharing with your little ones?

How fun! She is a cutie! I have taken my daughter since she was litle and it is always such a magical time!
She is just gorgeous! I can’t wait until my daughter is old enough. I really want her to be able to do the things my parents couldn’t afford to get me involved in. I always loved dancing and gymnastics, but the closest I ever got was the pom squad in high school.
She is a gorgeous girl! I look forward to the day where Kambry will be wearing a tutu for her first recital!
Stunning! She is so beautiful!
Oh and your daughter is soooo beautiful! I love her little dance costume!
I used to be a dancer too. I did tap, jazz, ballet, and pointe for 13 years or so and even did competitive dancing for one year, where btw, I won 2nd place! I also did POMS in high school. I soooo hoped my daughter would want to dance but she shows no interest. I may enroll her anyway to let her try it first before she says no completely! I remember the first ballet my mom took me to go see; Gazelle. It was beautiful and I will remember it for the rest of my life. I hope you and Lily have a great time!
As far as traditions go, we go see the Christmas lights at a local park; they have hundreds of thousands of lights and they are beautiful. We look forward to it each year. Then we do church on Christmas Eve followed by a large dinner that was tradition in my husbands house when he was little. He only cooks this meal once a year so we all enjoy it. Then we allow the kids to open one gift before bed and then Christmas morning we open our gifts at home and then go to my parents’ house all day. I’m hoping to get more and more traditions as the years go by.
your daughter is sooooooo adorable
Even though my daughter is 2 i am already debating what we should put her in.. dance..skating.. gymnastics? lol or soccer and baseball LOL
That is a tradition of ours too. I have been taking Gabbie since she was 3 years old and we have been every year since. I hope she has a wonderful time!! She is so precious!!
BTW, LOVE the picture and the outfit! You can totally tell she’s loving it!
I can’t believe I’m admitting this to everyone… but the first time I saw it, I kept waiting for some dialogue.
Yeah, I’m so classy like that.
She looks adorable! Our tradition is to watch Scrooge -okay my tradition but hopefully when my son gets older he will join me. Oh and how could I forget! I watch the yule log on tv. It is corny and crazy especially since I have a working fireplace but I do it every year.
I know Molly would love dance if we could afford to put her in a class. I would love to see her take on a little more grace.
