When I was in college, The Backstreet Boys were huge. HUGE. We are talking Jonas Brothers here. Getting tickets to their concert wasn’t exactly easy. When they rolled around to Tampa, the best seats I found were like 3rd balcony and behind a pole.

Seriously.

But I bought them and did my best to enter contests to win some and hold out hope I wouldn’t have to use binoculars. Now our local radio station, 93.3FLZ had a lot of BSB tickets to giveaway. They held a contest outside their studio, I cant remember how you won them, but it makes no difference as my name wasn’t pulled.

However, I did get to congregate with some fellow crazies. In fact, I met a girl there named Crystal who was a few years younger then I was and I took her number to maybe hang out sometime.

After I left the radio station, I just wasnt ready to give up yet. In fact, that’s a trait I hold onto still today. I never give up. I went home and came up with a proposal for the station. I emailed them and said my friend Andrea and I would come in and pudding wrestle for some tickets.

They said in bikinis?

We said sure.

They accepted.

When we went up there, I could not belive i had agreed to this. It was freezing outside. I dont remember what month it was, but I bet it was in December or January. I can literally recall my teeth chattering inside the station.

Now I was imagining like a tub full of pudding.

No.

Not that easy.

They gave us jello pudding CUPS and would not let us pre-peel the lids off. They had plastic set up all over the studio. On GO we started ripping the pudding cup lids off and hurling pudding at each other. It got slick quickly and the lids did not come off so well after a bit.

We won excellent seats.

Then, of course, I had two extra tickets on my hand.

So I called up Crystal and offered them to her. She went with Chris (yes, he went) and Andrea and I took the good seats. Crystal became a friend for many many years and will probably pop up in later pictures I’ll share here including some wild stories…like the time she got us kicked out  of the Orlando VIP in club Roxy, while we were hanging out with Lance Bass and JC Chasez from NSync,  for punching a girl in the face- wearing a boxing glove.

Ahh. Good Times.
