Consider this my formal apology. The past 24 days I have been a P.R. rep.
A certified emailing-campaign -pushing-begging-groveling-creative-pushing PR rep on behalf of my daughter.
Its unfun.
I know in the past I am consistently critical of how some PR functions.
Let’s face it. There can be some crappy internet promotional gurus out there that turn bloggers off. Hell, there are crappy bloggers, Im not denying that. We get the generic emails, the emails with our names wrong, the fake monologue about how great our site is which shows they haven’t read a thing, the “exciting” releases we are supposed to love to add to our site as ‘content’ regarding juice boxes and diets and picture books.
But I have learned that PR is not easy.
Its not even remotely easy.
Its like being a little gnat that people are pushing away and you have to keep going back cause its your job. Its your livelihood. It may even be your passion.
Do I think bloggers need to work for free or bend over backwards on opps that are not an excellent fit for their goals? No. I would never tell someone that they need to work for free, but I get what you do now, and it softens the pitch blow.
I understand how mistakes are made. Why sometimes my name is Tracy or Bob. Its not because you dont care. Its because you are sitting up from 7am till 12pm just begging for ONE person to say yes. One person to email you back without a follow up, one person to care like you care.
I know why you cant email me back all the time. Its because you are so busy, you get sidetracked, or stuck, or forget who you said thank you too or who you have to follow up with.
I get it. I finally understand.
And I don’t ever want your job.

Ha! I’m sure though the amount of suckage depends upon who you are representing! I feel bad for some reps who have the most undesirable or unexciting services/products. Must be uber tough.
WOW. I mean I get that they have deadlines & asshole bosses, but I’m not sure I would go as far as to say that I am all that sympathetic to the tactics they use on us.
Just sayin.
And it’s different when it’s for your child.
nope. try this..tr it for 30 days full on. You will want to kill yourself.
You have to remember one thing, honey. You are doing it for your child. You don’t have to feel guilty about asking. Not to me anyway.
I’m a parent too, and will do virtually anything for my kids (2 boys, now 22 and 18).
Hope everything continues to go well.
