Dinner was sad last night

I need to go to the store. I had to combine left over “whatever was in the freezer” dinner last night. We do not eat a lot of frozen foods, so most of this stuff was like at the bottom of the bag, stuffed in the freezer, and I had to combine it all to create an…interesting meal and try to convince my DH to eat it.

twice this week my husband ate cereal for breakfast.
    so, brava on the peas.

Oh, you make me laugh! My husband says that most of our dinners are a mixed bag when I’m the one cooking them. I’m not nearly as creative – or persuasive – with our dinners when it’s down to the bare bones of our cupboards.

  3. This is hilarious because I can totally relate. I have resorted to asking a twitter buddy for her meal plan so that I can go shopping and have a list of meals. Sad. But true.

  4. LOL Looks better than what we had.

  5. Tena says:

we have all made meals like this, did Charolette eat it? That’s all that counts, lol!
Glad you were able to get to the store. I just came from there as well, wanted to change the amount… add about another 100 to yours and you have mine. These boys are killing me!

My DH will be happy to know that we are $136 poorer but we have food.

  7. Allison says:

Looks better than what I make right now… with gall stones I refuse to make yummy food if I can’t eat it LOL!

  8. Andrea says:

LOL That is a funny dinner combination!

  9. I really should be at the grocery store right now.

    lol

So I’m not the only one?!?

    Good to know!

Lately we have been trying to use all our food we don’t eat so we’ve had several meals like that lol.

That’s why I always have Red Baron mini pizzas on hand. If nothing else, we have those. And pasta. The kids will eat pasta with butter. They think it’s cool if we skip a side dish.

u know what, i did the same exact thing yesterday. i was making otato casserole and chicken thighs in the oven, but i didnt marinate them early enough, so i changed my mind and thought id leave them for(today)so i needed something quick for dinner. I took out the box of chicken strips, and made my hubby a nice’chicken’ veggie salad with olives and feta-it was seriously so darn good. Then for my kids i took out some fish filets and fries taht i didnt even know i had! with some mixed veggieson the side. LOL, what a dinner eh??
i felt guilty , so its a good thing im making a real dinner today.

Oh, I always wait until the last minute to do grocery shopping, so that happens a lot. I remember one time in college I needed to go grocery shopping badly, so I had a can of corn for lunch. At least it was veggies right?

See we here at the Zoo call that Fridge Diving. I try to make sure that there is at least one decent leftover in the fridge when I know that we are coming to Fridge Diving Day. At least then the Lion doesn’t have to do the PB&J on the last freezer burnt hot dog bun – he gets cranky when I make him do that.

I was so there just the other night. Ended up with potato soup. I am so glad I had that for a back up !

  17. Jamie says:

i am so the same way! but whatever works right? it’s food, and it made a meal. eat it. lol

  18. LOL My husband would have run straight to McDonalds if I tried to pass that off. But yeah, we’ve had those nights…they usually consist of sloppy joes though.

  19. Shelley says:

My son’s lunch looks like that a lot! I haven’t made a big grocery run in a long time. I always make hubby stop at the store on the way home for the few things that will get us by for a few meals! Much easier than dragging 2 kids to the grocery store with me!

  20. I can totally relate! My fridge is empty and I really should be at the grocery store right now.
