Disney World Bound!

castleWe are taking Reagan to the Magic Kingdom for her birthday next week. She’s totally thrilled to be going and so excited to see everything there.

We have gotten breakfast reservations for Cinderella’s Royal Table which she has NO idea about. She’s going to be so surprised when we go there. Its going to be perfect!

Does anyone else have any other ideas or what we should take her to see?

Any tips & tricks? It will be her actual birthday so any ideas as to what Disney will do would be awesome to know.

Oh and does anyone have any connections? I would love a back tour or something like that :)

If you’re going to Disney I have a great book you should check out. It’s called “The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World” by Susan Veness. I’m planning a trip to Disney for my family this winter and I bought this book because it was pretty cheap. It’s got tons of secret facts about Disney–too many to list–and it walks you through all the attractions so it doubles as a guide to the park. My kids (8 and 10 yrs old) love learning about all of the secrets, it’s making them even more excited for the trip!

If you’re planning on going to Disney I would really recommend this book!! I hope this advice doesn’t come too late for your trip!

@ Shan @Last Shreds Of Sanity:

We are going to Disney World in Orlando.

Darn! That would’ve been a ton of fun. Thanks for the offer.

  3. Are you going to Disneyland or Disneyworld? Because if it is the original in CA, I may be able to talk to a friend who could get you a VIP and possibly into club 77 (I think that is what it’s called). Anyway, that club gets you through all the lines, back tunnels and secret high up, private rooms. It’s very hard to get into, expensive and apparently new memberships only open up when someone dies. No joke.

Let me know which one you are going to; my connection is only in CA.

I thought of something else. Most of my tips were for a full week. If you are there for 1 day & it’s a birthday, be sure you let them know when you get there so you can get the birthday pins. I had them when we went this year. You wear them on your shirt & all the Disney employees will tell her Happy B-day everywhere she goes. She may get special treatment at the restaraunts (sp?) as well. :)

Your so lucky, you guys will have a blast. We’ve celebrated my hubby’s and one of my daughters birthday’s at WDW. Get the button at guest realtions, becasue everyone will come up and wish you daughter a happy b-day. Also tell everyone you see that’s you are celebrating a birthday, we got better seating and extra time with the charaters becasue I kept saying it. They will give you a birthday cupcake and one of the charters will stand next to your child (great pictures)and sing a birthday song. You can also order a cake, the cheapest one is small and doesn’t have anything written on it but at least they get a cake on their birthday. You can order the cheaper cake when you check in for reservations or if you want a more elborate cake you have to call WDW diectaly and they can order you one.

If you can and if your daughter is intrested take her to Bippty Boopity Boo in the castel or DTD. It’s a little pricey but what girl doesn’t enjoy getting all made up. My oldest has only done it once, and then when we were lucky enough to go back I used the makeup and hair stuff to do it again and also used it for her Halloween costume so I got my money’s worth.

Sorry to go on and on, but as you can tell I am a huge fan and I love to see kids have a magical time there.

    Have Fun!!!

How exciting! You’re going to have a magical time!

You’ve gotten some good advice. I agree with the recommendation of Chef Mickey’s (the characters are wonderful, and I’ve heard that the food is better at breakfast than at dinner). If you can, consider a meal at Akershus (in the Norway part of Epcot); they have a Princess Storybook meal.

In the Magic Kingdom, my personal favorites are Mickey’s Philharmagic (a 3-D musical film) and the Winnie the Pooh ride. A girl who likes Cinderella might also enjoy the carousel: it’s an ordinary carousel except for the princess trimmings. Oh, and if waiting in line is not a problem, head to Toontown and visit the Hall of Fame (character greeting location); when we’ve been there, they usually have a room with a few Disney Princesses to meet and greet. When my son was four years old he got a lipstick kiss (on the cheek) from Cinderella, but now he doesn’t want to wait in line for the princesses. :)

  7. Ohhh- we just went a few weeks ago and it is HEAVEN! I agree comfy shoes are a must! You will love the character meals! If you can, add in Chef Mickey at the Contemporary. You get Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. Too much fun.

Also – FAST PASS – two words you want to know well. Scout it out a little in advance so you know what you want to go on, but the FAst Pass will allow you to avoid the lines. You go to the ride, pick up a FP and it will give you an hour window of when to come back. Choose your most impt FP ride and head there as soon as you enter the park. Once you have one in hand, you won’t be able to get a second FP for 1-2 hours. Buzz Lightyear, Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan are all good FP rides.

If you stay to watch the parade at night – head for the exit – there is more room for the kiddos to see and you wont’ wait as long. Since you are at the beginning of the parade, you will be among the first to see everything and the first to watch it end :)

    Hope that helps! Have fun!!

See if you get reservations at the Crystal Palace to see Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet – the meal was great, the characters were wonderful and it was air conditioned which was great since when we were there 3 weeks ago it was over 90 degrees!

  9. How cool is that! I know ur little one will have a cool time. Hope u find someone to get u back stage =)

You can get a birthday button if you ask at Guest Relations. Ask early though b/c they sometimes run out!

    @ Trisha-admin:

We will be at Magic Kingdom just one day. We are going on Tuesday early afternoon and will go to Magic Kingdom on Wednesday.

  12. Trisha-admin says:

your going to have so much fun alicia! are you spending the night or just the day?

  13. Heather says:

Oh girl, I could go on all day. We LOVE Disney. 1st, dunno if you are on the meal plan or not but I highly recommend it. If you are, take full advantage & book reservations at any restaraunts you don’t want to miss. It may seem extreme, but getting to the parks when they open is the way to go, if you weren’t out late the night before. Go straight to your #1 rides to avoid lines. And, if you get tired of the junk food in the parks, go to Cosmic Ray’s in Magic Kingdom. They have the BEST rotisserie chicken, mashed potaots, & green beans. And, I agree w/ taking snacks in a backpack & water for the day. I’m here if you have any questions! Or…you can check out our Disney posts on my blog for lots of tips!http://blueeyedblondies.blogspot.com/2009/03/disney-worldthompson-stylevol-i.html
See all March posts as we blogged about it for 7 days there was so much to tell!!! LOL….
    Oh, and have fun!

I hope you all have a great time! How special!

My tips: Pack a large bag with water bottles/juice packs. Freeze them the night before, as they melt you’ll drink. Wear comfy shoes, been 6 or 8 times, and sneakers were the BEST thing to wear. Don’t miss Crush at Epcot & eat at Mexican place while you’re there (indoors or out, food is great, margaritas are better!). Don’t miss Lion King at Animal Kingdom, pavilion right next door is best/easiest place to get Mickey & company autographs. Our kids also loved the Nemo musical (they’re 6 & 3). Toy Story ride is outstanding at Hollywood Studios, Belle musical is great, and the night show is NOT to be missed (Fantasmagoric? or something?). Park & Dine is fun to eat at, features Little Einsteins. Skip Narnia exhibit. At Magic Kingdom, well, it’s all good. Buzz Lightyear ride is fun. Enjoy the Royal Table, been there a bunch of times, it’s awesome!

Oh, yea, and email me any questions, always happy to help out about Disney vacations!
