No one ever taught me that if your child is going to get attached to something, get TWO of them. One for the wash, one for the hands. Or…one if you LOSE one. It hasn’t happened yet but if the day comes that my daughter looses ‘special’ blankie, I can only imagine the tragedy.
I still have a ‘blankie’. It usually stays in my pillow case. My new kitten has decided its hers and she sleeps on it and sucks on it. I cannot figure out why for the life me…other then that blankie is so special that kitten loves him too. Yes, blankie is a ‘him’. Even my dh calls blankie a him. Sometimes my DH pulls out blankie, who is tattered and old and dying…and pretends he is alive and says “Let me die…..please, please bury me in the backyard and retire to blankie heaven” all dramatically. But my DH has ‘rocky’ who is his stuffed raccoon with a button for a nose that I had to sew on so he could “breathe” again-so he can stuff it.
I cant let blankie go. I have problems.
So I was thinking…blankie or lovie or no? Do your kids have something they are attached to? Even those moms with older kids…do your kids carry something special they keep on their bed? What about you! Do you have something from your childhood you still keep?
