Lets just put it out there.
Dooce is one of the webs most famous mom bloggers with an estimated $40K a month coming from ads on her website. We have blogged about her a few times in jest and a few times in irritation, but love her or hate her, it’s her personal empire of brand that impresses me personally.
So……..are you a Dooce Lover? Or a Dooce Hater.
(ah hem, the blog, not the person)

Ok, this is going to sound stupid, but since she is so popular, I want to say her name right is it pronounced Doosh?? or Dosea’ or duce… lol I guess I will have to Google her as well.. Thanks for any info.
Didn’t she start her blog long before she had her daughter? I don’t consider her a “mom blogger” because she fell into “mom blogging” by accident after giving birth. She didn’t start her blog with the sole purpose of writing about the trials & tribulations of motherhood.
I like what she writes, but there are other bloggers I like more. I’m very new to this whole “mom blog” phenomenon, so I’m just trying to figure out where exactly our site “fits” among the well-defined cliques I’m noticing.
I personally love her blog and have known about her for a while. I find that running a blog is hard work and she writes really well. But to each their own.
I think that with fame, a family, a book, blog etc. it can be hard to continue to network the way she used to. Its hard to me personally and I’m not half a known as she.
glad I found this blog and look forward to connecting with a new set of moms… cheers!
Hmmm…if 27% of mombloggers don’t even know who she is, how successful is she at *blogging*?
Okay, money is nice, making money is great, but money is not the reason why I blog or visit other people’s blogs. For me blogging is about the quality of the blog, the connections one makes with others and their ideas, and the community of supportive people. Just IMHO.
The advertisers I like are using the real mom bloggers, like yourself. If you can’t be involved in your site by blogging, and interacting with other mom bloggers, than are you really a mom blogger, or just someone who has a web site that sells?
I read a few posts of hers (mostly the ones pertaining to getting fired for blogging… I was intrigued) MONTHS ago. I never went back. So I really have no opinion of her either way. She just didn’t have whatever it is that brings me back. Sad that even I don’t know what “it” is.
I had to google her after finding Momdot actually..then I was just confused because I thought it was a blog, but I didnt see any blogging??? I couldnt navigate the site b/c I had no idea what was there so I exited & havent thought about going back =X
@ sarah:
i would have to say…many years ago she was probably more involved. I am very involved deep in the “MOM BLOG” community and I have seen her no where most mom bloggers social interact. There are specific organizations and groups every serious mom blogger is involved in and she isnt on any of them.
Its not her blogging, or her, I dont like. Its her representing the mom blog community as if she is involved in it. She isnt. She is just a blogger, more along the lines of Pereze Hilton, Huffington Post, etc.
Its an actual community that is very definable.
I never really got into her myself…I much prefer Pioneer Woman…she’s toally real…
Neither love nor hate. I dont read her blog to have an opinion. Her advertisers sure aren’t reaching me. LMAO.
I have never once read her blog… I am more of a fan of the smaller ( and aren’t we all small compared to her) blogs.
