I want to thank everyone for voting for me as your Class President. I am so excited to be featured in this interview on MomDot! Here is a little bit about me – Christy aka The Write Gal.

How I started blogging. Until June 2008, I had never even read a blog (the horror!). I was discussing my writing Web site, The Write Advice, with a friend of mine who is a Web site designer. He suggested that I start a blog to bring traffic to my site. After much consideration I decided to blog about my two favorite things, writing and shopping, and “The Write Gal” was born. What I didn’t know at the time was how much I would absolutely love writing for my blog. I have made so many wonderful friends online and my only regret is that I didn’t start blogging sooner.

What I do when I’m not blogging. In addition to my favorite job of all as a Mom, I work part-time as a college instructor where I teach paralegal students. I was a paralegal for 15 years before I left the profession to spend more time with my family. I love teaching because it enables me to continue to do what I love but I don’t have the stress of a 60 hour work week. I also teach a Bible study at my church. I have a Web site, The Write Advice, where I offer business writing and consulting services such as writing Web site content, press releases, brochures, and other marketing materials. I especially love when I get to do writing for boutique owners since shopping is one of my other favorite things. I also am a Contributing Writer for my favorite blog, MomDot, and a staff columnist for a national trade magazine for paralegals.

The Little Write Gal. I have an 8 year old daughter, Holly, who is also know as “The Little Write Gal.” She loves shopping and writing just about as much as her Mom. My other baby is our dog, Ashes, an adorable rat terrier.

Was I Class President in High School? No, but I was President of The Education Club which was similar to Future Teachers of America.

Life Lessons. There are many things I have learned over the years, and I would like to share a few of them with you: With God all things are possible; Even though life can seem like a big blur at times, don’t let it pass you by; Motherhood is a gift from God; The first answer is almost always the right answer; Shopping really is cheaper than therapy; Your dreams can become reality if you believe in yourself; and You can’t please everyone all of the time.

My Million Dollar Book Deal. My friend Sarah aka The Zookeeper asked me if a publisher gave me a million dollars to write a book about any topic what would I choose. It’s funny because for about the last 10 years I have had this book idea in the back of my head. I think a million dollars would definitely motivate me to write it. It would be titled “Crying Only Ruins Your Mascara” and it would be filled with advice tips about everything from fashion don’ts to surviving in the same universe with your mother-in-law.
