This is the another Dottie Award Winner Self interview! We wanted to bring you something different and asked the blogging winners to talk about THEMSELVES! So please take the time to comment to them (as its hard to talk about yourself!) and visit their blogs. These are the blogs that were voted by their blogging peers as the best!  This is Petra from Wise, Young, Mommy!

First of all, let me say that I am not really a drama queen in real life. No, really, I am extremely level-headed and rational. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I am NOT a drama queen. Probably. Well…depends on who you ask. OK, I might be a little bit of a drama queen, but not the bad kind that likes to stir up drama and make everyone all crazy-like.

What I definitely AM is a full-time mom, stepmom, wife, and work-at-home writer/editor (and if that isn’t enough to make you break out into a sweat, I also run my blog and am writing a book). Life’s pretty, well, let’s say “interesting” around my house (which happens to be my in-laws’ house—yeah, I know, we’ll get to that later). My daughter is 2 ½ and full of adorable personality and intellect. Couple that with my stepson, who is a ball of energy and mischief at the ripe old age of 8, and I’ve got my hands full! I have an uber-handsome husband who is the exact opposite of me in almost every way, but somehow, we work out just fine (most of the time). He is honestly my “best friend.” Yes, I know everyone says that, but in this case, I really mean it. He runs the family business so there are some weeks that I forget what he looks like, but we try to enjoy the time we do have together and make as much family time as we can. And to top it all off, we have a half black Lab, half greyhound doggie-child named Maggie who is almost as demanding as the kids! I know you wish you had as much chaos in your life as I do, admit it.

Among all this chaos, I attempt to work a 30-40 hour week and run my blog, The Wise (*Young*) Mommy, which is, I have to say, one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I wasn’t really sure why I started my blog, and I really didn’t know what to expect from it. Lo and behold, what I got was a newfound passion, a gaggle of new and equally awesome fellow blogger friends, and possibly a new life path. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that people would want to read what I wrote, nor that they would find the inner workings of my near-insane mommy mind so humorous. But, all of a sudden, people were actually coming and reading my stuff! People were commenting and telling me that they could relate to what I wrote or that I made them laugh their patooties off. And I LOVED it. There is no greater feeling for me than knowing that I touched someone else’s life in a positive way. So it got me thinking.

What if I wrote a book? What if I took all this nonsense in my head, made some sense out of it and put it in a book for all to enjoy? So that is my new endeavor. I am planning on writing a book for all the moms out there like me who worry about stupid things, who want to lose weight but can’t, who want to raise their kids with integrity and love, who feel they are more than “just a mom,” and who want to contribute to society in a more dramatic way than just spending money at Old Navy. We can all have it—our cake and eat it too—children and a career; raising our children without putting them in day care and making money; looking and feeling GREAT and CONFIDENT and being a good wife and mother. There is a reason why they say we are the fairer sex, and it ain’t just because we look better naked! We can do it all!

So here I am, in a place where I never expected to be. I got my bachelor’s degree in Theater and Communications with a minor in English and I was going to (attempt) to be an actress all those years ago. But my plans got de-railed when I met my husband and his adorable son. The rest, as they say, is history. And thank God, because I would never go back and change it for anything in the world. I am happy with my life (although there are things that could use some improvement). I love to read and watch movies and have intellectual (and not-so-intellectual) debates with my husband. I occasionally enjoy a night out with the ladies and we always have a blast. I have an incredible and supportive mother and father who would do anything for me (and have all my life). So what do I have to complain about?

Oh yeah, living with my in-laws.

But that’s OK too, because the house we have been rehabbing is almost done and the day we move out will be glorious and liberating and I will never complain about my life again.

Well… I’ll try.

There’s a little glimpse into my crazy world! Thank you to everyone who voted for me for Drama Queen. I am so happy to be a part of this and I want to thank MomDot for spotlighting me and allowing me to tell a little more about myself. Please visit me over at my blog if you are ever in the mood for a good laugh, a funny picture, or at least want to see that someone else is a little bit crazier than you are!
