Its been a long time since I royally screwed up my hair.

But leave it to me to get all “creative” and take my blond hair

brown

and hated it.

Which is just as bad as when I did this….

Ever

EVER

let me cut my hair like a teenage girl again.

So after that brown I was able to get back blond-ish.

But now my hair is over-processed, kinda brassy (ok, VERY brassy) and UGG.

dryPretty hair underneath, brass and torn on the top.

You have no idea the amount of $100 products I have to use to make my hair even look this good.

I may have to go to something else…has anyone used homemade products or oils that work? I have read up on using Mayo, Egg, Almond Oils…heck, I’ll add salad dressing if it will repair it.

I am the one usually giving hair advice (and here it is, do NOT over-process your hair or you will live to regret it) but now I need some.

HELP!

  1. Actually, I know it’s not what you want to hear, but Cat is kind of right. Once hair is so damaged, you can’t actually repair it, you can mask the damage and as it grows keep trimming the bad stuff off the ends to maintain the length. The keratin advise is good too, but make sure you always follow protein with moisture. If you put too much protein back in it can start to feel brittle and dry. It’s crazy expensive, but Kerastase is really great stuff for hair that’s been extremely damaged. (For reference, I’ve been doing hair for 15 years, taught hair color for a major brand, and specialized only in color and texture for the majority of the years I was in the salon.)

How does your hair feel on the damaged parts when it’s wet? Tangles easily? Gummy or mushy? Overly stretchy? A bunch breaking off in your brush when you dry it?
