Being a mommy isn’t always an easy job, especially when you are often called to be the family nurse as well. Many of us moms don’t have medical degrees, so we rely on technology to guide us in the right direction. That’s where EarCheck comes in.
About EarCheck:
Developed by Innovia Medical, EarCheck is simple to use at home device to safely check for middle ear infections in children aged 6 months and up. This handy little gadget looks and acts much like a typical ear thermometer, quickly detecting middle ear fluid, a sign of infection.
How it Works:
After gently placing the EarCheck tip in your child’s ear, you simply press the Scan button and in seconds you have an easily readable result letting you know if your child has fluid in the middle ear.
When to Use EarCheck:
It’s often difficult to decipher common physical problems when you have a sick child that can’t communicate to you verbally yet. When your little one is showing signs of an ear infection like: tugging on their ears, runny/stuffy nose, and fever. Or maybe you’re child is already being treated for an ear infection, EarCheck helps you monitor the healing process as often as needed.
Mom Approved:
Lately my toddler has been hit with a string of bad luck when it comes to illnesses, from Rotavirus to the common cold. When EarCheck arrived at my door I was eager to test this out see if she had underlying issues to her cold.
Just seconds out of the packaging I was able to quickly read the usage instructions and check her ears for possible infection. Toddlers can be tricky when it comes to performing any sort of test, so mom advice here, let your child get familiar with the tool you’ll be using beforehand. After Kaydence had a few moments to inspect this new little gadget I was able to place the tip in her ear and scan away. In 3 short seconds I had my answer.

The easy read guide lights up giving you a range from 1-5, Fluid Unlikely, Monitor, and Consult Doctor. It was a relief to see that my daughter came through with a clear reading of Fluid Unlikely. Making this an even more useful product, it comes with a small test tube to make sure your EarCheck monitor is reading results properly. I look forward to the reassurance this offers when my newest addition arrives in a few short months, just one less thing I’ll have to worry about and hopefully one less trip to the pediatrician’s office.
Mom Improvements:
Simple Design. Quick reading. It’s hard to find an area to improve.
Buy It:
Whether your child has frequent ear infections or you just need that extra reassurance before running to your pediatrician, EarCheck is widely available through retailers like Babies R Us, Walgreens, Target, and CVS. Don’t have time to run to the store? You can purchase EarCheck online for $69.95 from One Step Ahead.

My boys always had a lot of ear infections when they were younger. I wish they would have had something like this then! I will definitely get one when the next one comes along. Thanks for the great review!
