Earn Money Promoting Products With Amazon

In my first post about making money, I introduced Logical Media. Using Logical Media is a great way to make money with freebies on your mommy blog. Several people joined and are already making money with it so thats great. However, I’ve already been asked “How Else Can I Make Money?”

Earn Money with Products

Many mommy bloggers do product reviews of different items. That can be excellent for your readers as well as search engines, but why not money? You don’t have to write a sales pitch or anything, just write as you normally would. At the end you can simply include the banner to the item on Amazon. Tons of people shop on Amazon anyways, why not send you some commission?

Amazon Associates

After joining Amazon Associates you are ready to earn money. Amazon is a little different than Logical Media, because instead of a flat rate, you earn a percent of the item you sell. Starting at 4% the more you sell in a month, the more % you get.

Amazon also offers different widgets and ways to use Amazon to earn money. You can use the classic box like this with a product:

Or a banner, or even a text link to an item. (For all those who entered the Micralite Toro Stroller Contest, you could of included a link to buy it. You never know!). Amazon takes a little getting used to, but there are many ways to earn money.

Amazon Example

Certain months I’ve done great with Amazon, sometimes I get no sales, it all really depends. I’ve sold most on my Hannah Montana site. Yes, I have a Hannah Montana site (lol). In this post, I announce her CD release, you can see how I incorporated Amazon into it. Overall I was able to sell about 10 of her CDs by simply mentioning her CD as pre-order, then for sale, making sure to include how much of a discount it was.

Many items offer free shipping and can be generally cheaper than stores. So not only can you introduce a cheaper product for your readers, you can also earn a bit of commission doing so.

@Staci A Yeah as I mentioned you get about 4% to start. It’s definitely worth using it to pick up a few extra bucks.

@Jenna Good luck let me know if you need any additional help.

    Great Comments

@Trish: I’m sorry that you didn’t get credit! You are correct about when someone clicks and they buy something else you get the commission. Someone bought $100 worth of stuff from me, but none of the products I had had listed!

@Cat: It could be a good monetization tool to add

@Jen: You don’t need to push the product down their throat lol, but you can mention it or simply just put a text link to the amazon page. “Here is my review of the super cool coffee mug. You can get your own at Amazon for $$. Its the best price I’ve found.” Theres loads of tools and widgets you can also include.

I find it kind of nice that my reviews and blog posts lead people to buy the products and books that I also enjoy. Someone purchased some Antwone Fisher books that I had mentioned on Words of a Poet. I only got abou 50 cents commission, but it was kind of nice that they read my blog and wanted to buy them. I know I enjoyed it so I hope they do as well.

The nice thing about them is if someone clicks on a link from you site, and then does some browsing and buys other things that weren’t on your site, you get credit for that too!

I know of a few people who use Amazon. I always worry about coming off like a pushy salesperson, though, so I haven’t really entertained the idea. I don’t know how offensive my readers would find it. But I can’t live with my in-laws forever! Lol.

I use amazon for one of my websites, but never thought to use it on my blog.

I just signed up a few days ago with them. I had a friend buy some stuff from my site, but then he shipped it to me, so I didn’t get credit for the sale. :( You can also earn money by referring people to sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime.
