About Exergen:
From the Exergen Corporate Website:
Exergen Corporation is the recognized world leader in industrial and medical non-invasive temperature technology. From providing temperature sensors for NASA and various industries to creating one of the world’s most popular baby gifts, Exergen creates non-invasive temperature measurement devices providing lower cost, higher accuracy, less invasiveness, and greater reliability than ever previously possible.
The creator of the first temporal artery thermometer—the Temporal Scanner™, the most efficacious, non-invasive thermometer ever created. Exergen holds over 100 U.S. and foreign patents, and is the only manufacturer of retail medical thermometers in the U.S. Presently, 30% of hospitals and pediatricians currently use the Exergen TemporalScanner, and well over 1 million consumers use one at home.
Mom Approved:
I’ll admit, thermometers and sick kids are two of my least favorite things in life. In one arm you’ve got a screaming child that wants to do nothing more than whine and expel body fluids all over your house and in the other you’ve got a gadget designed to help you determine just how sick your child is, yet makes them more irritated leaving you wondering if the temperature you just took is reliable. Then add the fact that each way of taking a temperature from the rear to the ear has it’s own set of rules, add a degree this way, subtract a degree that way. It all reminds me of why I never followed in my mother’s footsteps to become a nurse.
Then the Exergen TemporalScanner arrived. The unique and patented process makes temperature reading easy and painless for the both of us. There’s no probing the baby’s bottom, holding my daughter’s armpit clamped for 3 minutes, or squeezing her head while trying to get an ear reading. While the process is actually quite complex, obtaining the accurate result is much simpler. I put together a short clip on just how easy it was to take a temperature on my toddler daughter.
If by some reason you couldn’t view the clip, taking a temperature works in four steps. 1) remove the probe cap 2) place the probe flat across the center of the forehead. 3) while holding the button down, slide the probe across the forehead to the hairline. 4) read the digital temperature display. I’ve already tossed all of my old thermometers thanks to how easy the TemporalScanner is to use.

It would be great to use since our children (like everyone else’s) don’t like invasive temperature-taking methods, but also for its high accuracy—so I might not feel like I need to take their temperature “one more time” to make sure. Thanks for the giveaway!
I did not know that this thermometer takes 1,000 readings per second and selects the most accurate.

As you gently stroke the thermometer across the forehead crossing over the temporal artery, the sensor in its probe performs two processes:
First it scans like a video camera, capturing naturally emitted infrared heat from the arterial blood supply at about 1000 “frames” per second, locking in the highest temperature it senses and;
Second, at the same time, a patented system measures the ambient temperature of the site where the temperature is being taken. The patented “arterial heat balance” (AHB) software then synthesizes the two separate readings to accurately determine and display body temperature

I had one of these and it broke. I loved that you could just put it over the forhead and it takes the temperature real quick. Thank you.
The fact that these are non-invasive and accurate are the biggest “selling points” to me.
LOVE THE IDEA OF NOT HAVING TO PUT A THEROMETER
IN THE MOUTH OR OTHER PLACE
I love it that if my son is sick and sleeping, I won’t have to wake him up to take his temperature.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Nice prize! I would love to win! Thanks so much for the giveaway!
I really like that the TemporalScanner Thermometer is accepted for use in major hospitals! This reassures me it is accurate enough to use at home.
I especially like that it is quick and accurate.
Thanks!

I like the feature of getting a temp from the head without trying to get it in a squirming kid’s ear.
This would be so awesome for my daughter in law. We are going to have a new grand-daughter and we have have a 2 year old grandson. So she could so use this. I think the best feature (other than accuracy) is how quick you get a reading. You do not have to fight with a sick child. Also when your child is ill you want answers fast.
