Well, looks like MomDot does have some influence. A day after we posted our Facebook post, they change their TOS back to what it was. (BTW, totally joking on the influence part, but it does look like Facebook is doing some scrambling on policy change again) Everyone got in a tizzy and it worked. Now why doesn’t that work when we put the pressure on the federal government?
Or our children?

Yielding to pressure from its users and privacy advocates, Facebook Inc. Tuesday night backed away from controversial changes to its terms of use that some had decried as giving the social network too much leeway with users’ personal information. “Over the past couple of days, we have received a lot of questions and comments about these updated terms and what they mean for people and their information,” read the statement, which Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg expanded upon in a blog post. “Because of the feedback we received, we have decided to return to our previous Terms of Use while we resolve the issues that people have raised.”

I was so happy to hear they actually paused this for the time being and hope they see what a HUGE mistake this could have been changing their terms of service. I was very aggravated when I seen they could keep all our material regardless if we took it down or deleted our profile. GRRR on them. Hopefully they will see that MOMS do have a voice and we will go all “mom blogging” on them
.
Blogs and websites like this have created a new type of grassroots movement in our country. Facebook underestimated the impact it would have…and now they are scrambling to wipe the egg off of their face. Will subscribres trust them? Only time will tell, but I’m sure you will see an exodus of members and a drop in advertising.

I just signed up for facebook and have been very careful about what to put on there but it is great to know that you do have some influence somewhere! Now could you get my kids to clena their rooms?
I don’t have a facebook account. Mostly because I write anonymously on my blog for the protection of my children; if I had a facebook account, I would be tempted to put my blog on there and then why would I both posting anonymously. SO…I have no idea what facebook did. I don’t know what they were changing to and then reverting back to, but I do know that a lot of people are/were up in arms about the new policy.
