Fashion Tuesdays

Today topic is hair! Why this topic you ask? Well, because I just went to the salon last night and I thought “You know I need to do a topic on hair…hairstyles, hair coloring, all things hair.” So here I am.

Let’s first touch on a few not so hot hair tips:

This is not hot

I don’t care if you are rich (so people act like they like you and tell you you are pretty), it’s because you have money, because honey that hair is a HOT MESS!

Next hair NO-NO:

Um yeah, this was not even okay in the 80′s! It was horrible then and by no means should be worn today. Now, I have a big redneck family and even we know not to go there. A mullet is a fish, something you eat, not something that should be worn on your head.

Last hair oops for the day:

Yes Carol Brady may have been the perfect mom, but her hair was a disaster (well the color is great). That style just screams “I am trying to pull off a manly mullet cut, yet still try to be cute and feminine.” Well, honey, that just ain’t working for ya!

I thought today I would counter my don’t with some do’s.

~Do be confident in the hairstyle you choose (unless it is one of the disasters from above) because when you have confidence you can wear your style with pride.

~Do have fun with color. I mean as long as you aren’t going for the all black hair with a white stripe down the middle, you can do almost anything.

~If you are going to go more than one shade darker or lighter than your natural color, (or red) make sure you are willing to go the extra mile to keep it up, nothing is worse than unkept haircolor. I mean have you don’t want to look like this:

As you know I am famous for changing hair color…. so here are a bit of my changes! The last one is the color I just went to for fall (yes it’s red but I make sure to keep it up):

How many hairstyles have you had? What was your ultimate no-no? How often do you change your haircolor and what is it now?

I love it! Thank you for doing this section on hair! I don’t know how many people I just want to slap for showing their roots…like big time. If you are going to dye your hair you have to keep it up! OK so there’s my little soapbox.
I love your colors. I think I like the third one best…spunky!

  3. Sheri says:

Naturally curly hair here, too. I keep it about shoulder length or a little longer, because otherwise I look like a Q-tip. I need to dye out my gray; I don’t usually color in the summer because I like to swim.

I used to fight my curls, and did a lot of blow drying/big hair back in the 80s, but now I just get a handful of mousse and scrunch away. I haven’t used a blow dryer in years. Just scrunch, spray and off I go!

I love all of your hair colors and styles. So adorable. Every since I have lost weight, I keep trying new styles. They keep getting shorter and shorter. My stylist loves it because I’m not picky, I just tell her to go for it, it will always grow back if I don’t care for it but she has never disappointed me. I bring in a new picture every time. The last one was my favorite and I think I’ll do it again as it’s grown out now. I have never colored my hair but have always wanted to go a dark or bright red. My natural color is strawberry blond. But I always chicken out LOL

  5. My favorite goof up…I wanted a blonde chunk on the front of my bangs. It would have looked cool if it didn’t turn Crayola yellow!

Mac was about 5 and she laughed herself silly! She reminds me of it still and it was over 5 years ago!

Well!! LOL I actually saw a picture of myself on my 5th birthday with krimped hair. Since HS though I have had 3 perms which are NO NO’s for my hair. I’ve had it professionally colored maybe twice, this last time I had very FEW carmel highlights put in. I’ve had it LONG and then short and then in between. Right now my hair is a nice shoulder length that is in need of some more carmel highlights.

Trisha you and are must be hair sisters LOL I started in 10th grand and have not stopped yet, I have no idea how many times I have changed mine.

  8. Trisha-admin says:

you cant even count the times and ways i have messed up my hair.

  9. Staci A says:

    Love your new color, Toni!

I go through stages of long to short. I constantly grow it long, than chop it all off, hate it, and start growing it back out. I used to change colors a lot too, but haven’t in a few years.

The biggest hair disaster was when I tried to go red (from pale blond). My hair turned orange and looked awful.

  10. Rachel L says:

Ooooo . . . your pictures make me want to change my hair around. I used to change the color ALL the time but it’s been over 2 years since I last colored my hair! SO SAD!

  11. hipmom3 says:

My worst haircut is always after my children when I get the bright idea to cut my hair…wth am i thinking? i look so much better with long hair. so yet another year and i am growing it back out *yawn*
I always used to change colors pre-children when i had the money too. lol so now its either black or choc brown with red!
    Your hair looks supercute!

  12. Sarah says:

The worst harido I ever did was when I permed my hair between sophmore and junior years in college. So not good!! Most recent change? Lopped off 12 inches of hair for Locks. Went from braids draggin my butt to not being able to even pull it up in a full pony. AWESOME!!

  13. toni says:

    Thanks Melissa and belinda.

belinda, I am actually trying to grow it out LOL.

  14. Belinda A. says:

Toni, I do like your new color! I am all eaten up with envy actually – I’d love the kind of cut you have, I always attempt it and it’s always a disaster. I have naturally curly hair that is a daily struggle to tame . . . Long live the flat iron!

  15. Jen says:

I pretty much go back and forth between highlited and not (my natural color is so dark that sometimes I just need the little boost but then I get tired of the upkeep). I also tend to grow it out really long, like to my bra strap, and then cut it into a short bob. Which I then hate and immediately commence growing it out. Seriously. It’s a yo-yo effect.

  16. I am a color junkie. 8 weeks max. I was more blonde, and just went brunette. My actual hair color is a pretty light auburn, and this whole dying thing makes my mother crazy. I just get bored is all.

  17. I use to change hairstyles and color like I change my socks….but then I got old. LOL Honestly, I don’t have time to keep up with the changing times anymore so I just let my hair go natural and long. My hair has been every color under the rainbow but I prefer natural, it’s so much healthier to boot. It’s been 4 years since I’ve had anything more than a trim.

  18. Whoo-hoo!! My Gravatar worked!

  19. Love the new hair color! I’m starting to get the itch to change mine. I will probably do it before my trip to Alabama next month!

  20. Trisha P says:

I don’t change hairstyles that often. I did just make a drastic change a few months ago. I cut off 16 inches! I usually grow my hair out and keep it long for a year, then cut it off. I like long hair better one me, although my new “short” (anything above the shoulders is short for me!) hair is super easy to take care of. I don’t change color, but I have really pretty red hair so I don’t see a need to change. I don’t want to damage it! It’s my one good feature! :) The nice thing about my hair is that it is naturally wavy, so it will go curly if scrunched or straight if blow dried, so I can change the whole look of my hair without getting it cut.
