[private]A blogging friend of mine received this email today:
hi, i was wondering if u coud possibly think about making me win the (editor removed) giveaway, i could send u half the retail in exchange! all u have to do iss keep hittin the random.org button till my number comes up. let me know. i really want it. ty
I know bloggers get a lot of heat for “unethical” behavior, fixed contests, blah, blah, but it was shocking to see someone REQUEST a fixed contest and give instructions on how to set it up.
Wow.
Just…wow.
First time ever I am speechless.

Sounds like an unethical entry to me and I would remove all of their entries…wow! That’s awful!
WOAH!! what on earth were they thinking?? I sure hope you knew who it was and can ban them! Others need to know who it is too-Pathetic!
I’m afraid I’d be tempted to remove someone from the contest entirely after receiving a request like that. I hope I never have to deal with a message like that.
There’s just no cure for stupid.
Just WOW~
Wow, great idea. NOT!
I’ve always wondered how RANDOM some winners really are. I even question if people using the random.org generator, look to see who won, and decide to generate another number for whatever reason.
The blogosphere just keeps getting more weird each day…guess that’s why I love it.
I can’t believe anyone would have the guts to ask such a question. It totally blows my mind! This probably sounds stupid, but I would have thought they’d at least written in better grammar and not “texting” language if they wanted to be taken seriously.
I can’t believe someone would actually send that email! Or that they could even remotely believe that a blogger would jeopardize their reputation like that! It’s insane!
I agree, I’d like to ban people like that from my blog!
No way Jose! I can’t believe someone would actually have the nerve to ask that.
Good God. I enter a lot of contests and wouldn’t think of this-jeez. They must not be a big believer in karma, huh. And I agree – wonder if it has worked with other bloggers? wow-paying for a win-just watch for a sale, you can probly get it that cheap somewhere. wow, I am just really amazed.
I am with Suzanne. I wondered has this worked for this person before with some other giveaway. I would never even think aobut doing that.
What an idiot. it’s people like that who are perpetuating the misconception that all bloggers are unethical swag grabbers.
People like that should be banned.
That’s so beyond disgusting I can’t believe it. Gross.
No wonder people get a bad rap. This is why I VLOG my winners! There is NO surprise and NO “fixing” it. That person should be banned from all blogs!
Never in a million years would I consider doing something like that, nor had I thought that someone would resort to that to get a prize.
If I did get an email like that, the person would be permanently banned from my giveaways.
Makes you wonder if this person has been successful in getting someone else to do it…
Crazy people! I was so shocked to see that! It is scary because I enter contests, and I wonder if anyone ever DOES do something like this?!?! Totally not right!
I wish I knew who this was so I could ban them from my contests too! Extremely unethical and I’m shocked someone would actually have the nerve to do this!
I cannot believe that someone would actually ask to fix a contest? Are they serious? That is just wrong!
That is absolutely ridiculous. I get that e-mail I will BAN whoever it is from even coming to my site.
OMG that is so weird…but in a way funny that the person would think that someone would actually do it LOL Do people do it ??? LMAO
