I have never sold ads before, pricing advice please

I have been blogging for about a year, but have always used affiliates and adsense.  I just got an inquiry about putting a text link ad on my blog http://blog.poorsanta.com. They want to buy a 1 yr link, and I have absolutely no idea what to charge.

I know many of you have sold adspace before.  Is there a formula or general rule of thumb you use to price ads?

It's really up to you what you want to charge.  We charge $10 per month for text link ads and if they pay for a full year up front then we give them one month free.  Hope that helps you out some.

I gave them a quote & now they can take it or leave it.  I would love to start getting away from adsense, maybe this is a tiny step in the right direction.
