Frosted Flakes Plant a Seed

I am excited to bring you this really great idea from Frosted Flakes. We all recognize that Frosted Flakes is a leader in cereal and a staple in our homes. I can honestly say we have the stores biggest box in our cupboard right now! But what Americans want anymore is to know that companies are responsibly giving back and making a difference in the community.

Frosted Flakes says:

The Super Bowl provides the ideal opportunity to raise awareness among moms in every community across the U.S. about Kellogg’s Frosted FlakesTM Earn Your StripesTM program and the field renovation initiative, two programs that reinforce our commitment to nutrition, health and building stronger communities. We’re excited to launch a national call-to-action for our field renovation program, part of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes® cereal’s Earn Your StripesTM program, during the big game.

Frosted Flakes knows that sports fields are being eliminated as the economy gets tighter and wants to find a way to keep oru kids outside, playing, healhty, and grow up in a true community. I think they are doing an amazing thing by allowing us, as moms, to let them know that our cities need a baseball field or football field; a community park! Fifty sports fields across the U.S. will be selected and renovated in 2009.

Frosted Flakes points out:

The field renovation program speaks to moms, aligns with the mission of the Earn Your Stripes program by inspiring kids to be their best by working hard and eating right, and provides mom a way to give back to her community.  With budget cuts, there are fewer opportunities for kids to stay active both in their neighborhoods and in schools. Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes® hopes its nationwide field renovation program will help provide better places for families to stay active.

  • Budget cuts for local parks and recreation departments could result in fewer places for kids to play, particularly in the inner cities. The National Recreation and Park Association projects a $38 billion funding deficit for basic needs over the next four years. Upkeep for fields is already being neglected and budget cuts are preventing the development of new fields, according to the NRPA.
  • Physical education in schools is also declining – the percentage of students who attended a daily physical education class dropped from 42 percent in 1991 to 28 percent in 2003, according to the American Heart Association and the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.

For those of you that want to help your area, but think nominating them wont make a difference, let me point out that big companies DO listen. Recently I entered an online contest for Walmart and gave a tip on saving money and won a $6,000 gift card.

Who knows? You could bring an entire ball park to your town!!! The way mom bloggers have a clue in on the social scene, we can do almost anything. So partner up with Frosted Flakes today and make a difference in your childs life and the lives of those around you.

Nominate a Field to be built in YOUR city today!
