Now that our house is bursting at the seams with a family of five it’s become more important than ever to set aside some time to spend together. Our typical family night is played out on Sunday’s either with a family movie or visiting the grandparents. For the past few weeks we changed things up a bit and invited the game, Hasbro Family Game Night for Wii into our home. Before I get into how addicted we’ve become to this game, let’s cover what’s included.
Hasbro Family Game Night takes your favorite classic board games Connect Four, Battleship, Yahtzee, Boggle, Sorry, and Sorry Sliders and gives them life in the digital world of gaming. Mr. Potato Head walks you through each game with pop up instructions as you play. As you complete each game, players are awarded fun trophies that you can collect and view in your very own trophy room.
- 1 – 4 Players
- 6 classic games plus extra bonus ways to play each game
- customize your own trophy room
- Family friendly, rated E for Everyone
Getting back to our addiction…let me say, I don’t usually find a game I’m willing to play several times, let alone something that is fun for not only myself but my kids. When we first popped the game into the Wii everyone was pretty excited. We were finally able to sit down as a family and do something we all enjoyed that didn’t leave anyone yearning for bedtime to roll around. What we found was the best part of the game is that not only can you play the classic rules but there are options that let you take the games in new directions.

For instance, my personal favorite, Battleship. There’s an option that lets you play with super weapons! Instead of plugging away one hit or miss at a time occasionally you get a misile that will take out an entire row. Then there’s the dreaded decoy that makes you think you hit a ship but it turns out to be a dead zone. It definitely keeps the game interesting. If battleship isn’t your thing, there’s always Connect Four Power Chips that lets you play in a fast pace mode with added power to your chips.

When I said we were a little addicted, I wasn’t kidding. We’ve actually played the game almost every night since it arrived. Even my husband and I have been sneaking in some Battleship time after the kids are fast asleep.

Stacy’s last blog post..I am addicted…
Both of my sons families got a Wii for Christmas. This sounds like it would be a good present to buy each of the families….and we grandparents can play it with them when we visit!
I love battleship. Now I need to get a Wii, lol.
