Hoover Holiday Giveaway CLOSED $399

hoover1I know, we are vaccuum extraordinaires around here! We always have the scoop on the best vaccuum on the market and this month we are working with Hoover and we are THRILLED.

I have five cats. Five cats + 1 DH + 1 child = DISASTER for your carpet. If I told you how many times I vacuum a week, you wouldn’t believe me. So for our family to have a STRONG reliable vacuum is a worthwhile investment.

Now you may be wondering why we are offering a Bagged vaccuum over a Bagless vaccum. The fact is, there are plenty of reasons why a family would prefer a bag over a bagless and in our past vaccuum giveaways, we have heard from people that want something that has a bag. And hoover was happy to oblige.

There is a lot of discussion on which type of vaccuum is better and most companies offer both now a days. The truth is, its a preference. Checking out the direct a bagless vaccuum picks up may make cleaning more intereting, but for some, supplies an endless amount of dust, dander, and pet fur that circulates in the air once the canister needs to be emptied. With a bagged vacuum, everything you pick up stays sealed-right where you want it.

And if you have ever messed with a Hepa filter on the many bagless vaccuums out there, you also know that that they can be dirty, stinky, and requiring change quite often to get their full usage out of. Many people say that keeping a regular bagged vaccuum is the actually the best way to keep your house clean, as well as dirt and dust free.

What we believe is the most important thing is having a vacuum that WORKS and works WELL. As parents, we don’t want to even imagine the things that are left in our carpet after walking over, and pets sleeping, and bugs, and hair and gosh knows what else. Then we let our infant sit, sleep, and play right on the carpet.

platinum_bagged01-preHoover has recently come out with a Platinum line of Vacuums worth their weight and we happen to have the inside scoop with their handvac, stick vac, and ultra amazing lightweight Bagged upright and portable canister vac!

Platinum Collection™ Lightweight Bagged Upright Features and Benefits:

One of the worst places in my home that often neglects getting cleaned is the stairs, so to have a vaccuum that also goes portable, is amazing. Hoover has definitely packaged this as a true Platinum deal.

CONTEST

Now we know that there are presents out there that you received over the holidays (or at any time in your life) that…well…..were probably not so great. An ugly swear, a gift card to the Army/Navy store…..or maybe nothing at all?

What we want to do is trade our Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright and Portable Canister worth $399 in exchange for your worst present (virtually of course).  How is that to make the season bright? Plus, starting off the new year where you can clean from top to bottom, is a wonderful way to feel fresh. Out with the old…in with the new.

1) To win, first head over to Hoover and let us know another product on their page you love. We want Hoover to know their favorite products by consumers!

2) Then, let us know the worst gift you have ever received…if it was this holiday, or a birthday 10 years ago, we want to hear the very worst gift. We encourage pictures of your worst gifts and then link back in the comments.

This can be done in the SAME comment each time, no need for separate one as this will not be a random.org contest.

We will narrow down the top 20 worst gifts on Jan 29th and put up a poll  right on momdot where our users can vote for the person that should receive the brand new vacuum.

You may enter as many times as you want, as long as you complete both steps along the way. Now is a time to celebrate all those times your mother in law bought you a thong…….and oh, yes she did one year.

ps we would completely appreciate a tweet or blog post about this contest

You couldn’t possibly know how much I need this.

  3. Susan Gustafson says:

The Impulse Cordless Power Mop from the Hoover line of products is a favorite and one I would love to own.

Worst present I ever received a new toilet seat and toilet brush from my husband about 10 years ago. Needless to say he now gets me “girly” stuff after a rather sharp discussion about appropriate gifts for his wife!

  4. Tracy W. says:

I’ve been wanting the FloorMate SpinScrub with Tools for a while now. The worst gift I rec’d was a fluffing pink bathrobe two sizes two big.

  5. Rick Stafford says:

We’ve had for several years a Hoover canister like the Wind Tunnel model S3630. We would replace our old one with this one.

  6. reeva says:

I’d love to have the steam vac! My worst gift ever was a bull scrotum purse. I had no clue what it was at first but when I read the card my jaw dropped lol

  7. Angie Smith says:

The Hoover Hardwood Floor Cleaners would be great to try. But I really would love the new vacuum, with 5 kids including twin 5 year old boys, I go through the vacuum cleaners. I haven’t found one yet that can go more than two years, ugh!

My favorite “worst” gift was from my sweet Police Chief husband, who is also a hunter. For Valentine’s Day I received “Buddy”, our german shorthair hunting dog. Did I mention that I do not hunt nor have I ever had my own dog. Buddy was a puppy and very cute, he was also very energy filled. We sent him to hunting dog school but he was kicked out, they said too immature. Oh and he also had seizures, after a few trips to the vet they told us there really wasn’t anything they could do for him, they were not sure what caused them. After two years Buddy (R.I.P.) succumbed to the seizers and died on Easter morning.

WindTunnel 2 Extra Reach Bagless Upright

  9. Maggie M says:

I’d also love to try out Hoover’s ‘FloorMate SpinScrub with Tools’ (H3060). It’s a vac/wash/dry upright with dual tank design and it comes with a handheld grout cleaning tool, interchangeable spinscrub and grout brushes and there’s a portable detail kit with a grout tool and grout brush for cleaning both your floors and shower tile grout. Man! I sure could use that!

I’ve received my share of awful presents over the years….the edible undies was my worst and most embarassing, but I did receive a soap on a rope one year from a niece (an adult niece, not a child). What was she thinking? My husband didn’t even want it.

  13. sandra jensen says:

I would love the steam vac all terrain!

My worst gift? Hum how about the fly rod from my husband? Guess who used it?? :-)

  14. Heather says:

The Hard Surface cleaner would be awesome!! The whole first floor of my house is all hardwoods, so this would be great!

The worst gift ever? Oh how I wish I had a picture. I sold it at a yard sale. My FATHER-IN-LAW has a high heel shoe fetish. GROSS! Well, he likes to get me gifts that have high heels on them. One year he gave me a Nightgown with matching socks….with pictures of high heels on them! GROSS! I sold it at a yard sale for a dollar, then saw it in a “high-end” boutique store window…yuck!!!

I have had other high heel gifts, which I will share in another comment!

  15. I have 5 kids, a hubby and a dog. If I am ever in the market for a stemavac,I would love to try the steamvac all terrain.
My worst gift was Christmas 2 years ago. It was a cute Americana tealight candle holder from my neighbor. Trouble is, I gave it to her the Christmas before, since she collects everything Americana. It kinda hurt my feelings to be so blatantly re-gifted.

My favorite product is the floor mate!

I received a bottle of shampoo one year. One giant bottle of shampoo! The best part was it was for permed or color treated hair and my hair is (and was) neither.
