How NOT to win a contest.

contestA blogging friend of mine recently was telling us about an email she received from a winner on her site. She had notified (either on her blog or via email) the prize winners and one of them emailed her claiming her prize. The blogger wrote back and asked her what prize since it was not stated in the email.

I think that’s a fair question. I get about 50 emails a day and if someone emailed me with “i am claiming my prize” my instinct would be to email back and say “which prize did you win?”. Emails and names don’t always match up to online entries, etc so you cant just assume.

Well, this is the email she got back from the claimer:

(Blogger, name removed)

You have not sent me the prize or a prize?I can’t believe it.You don’t know what i won?I can’t believe it.How should i know what i won when you never told me in any of the e-mails.Looking back at old e-mails all you said( i was a winner_.If you can’t remember what the prize was please send me something else of equal value.I’v never run into complications like this with other contests i won.I can’t believe it.Do you not keep records of who won what, outgong and incoming?Good thing i keep my e-mails as recorded info.Would dates of January 16 not joggle your memory of what i won.I generally respond instantly when i win something so i would look at your e-mails sent at that timeline or contest prizes. You have my mailing address please send me a nice prize to compensate for this aggrevation.
Thank you
(Pissed off Winner, name removed)

The best part of this is that the winner didn’t even fulfill the correct requirements of the contest TO win after Blogger looked into it.

Oh, and the prize she won?

A toothbrush.

I think I would clean my toilet with it before I sent it to her.
