I am horrified at myself

[private]

Today I went shopping. I still have another few meetings to attend that I want to look snazified for and I really could use some non-internet time, so I headed out to Ross. While I love discount stores because of all the great brand names, I always have a hard time finding my size. Sometimes it feels like it all starts at size ’4′ and that’s a few inches on the too big side for my frame.

What can I say..I lay off the cheeseburgers.

After trying on many, many things I was starting to feel defeated till I put on this adorable brown shirt with ruffles on the front and a nice mandarin collar. I had it on all of 3 seconds before I decided I loved it and it would be my lone purchase-and for $9.99 it was a deal!

So I am standing in line (waiting for the lady in front of me to stop screwing around long enough to check out) and start inspecting the shirt. Since I liked it so much, I pulled out the shirt tag to check the brand. Maybe I could buy more!

SweetLilly….maternity.

Maternity.

so that’s what those back ties were for.

The sad part was I stood there and considered still buying it for a brief moment before walking it back to a rack.

A girl has to have her standards.

I would have bought it. I have a maternity shirt I love and still wear right now, I don’t think it

  2. Ok I wouldn’t have bought it, either, BUT I would’ve felt that shirt burning a hole in my pocket and had to find something else.

Are you going to kill me if I say maybe that was a sign? lol TOTALLY kidding! We all know you’re not pg! lol I would have bought it anyway! Hey a girls gotta be comfortable right? I would have just removed the tag and if someone asked me if it was maternity said, ‘Umm…no! Rude much?’ lol

  4. Firefly says:

I would have bought it LOL if I like it and for that much I wouldn’t tell anyone it was maternity though :P

  5. I wore an old maternity shirt to my MIL’s viewing. I had to come up with something that was NOT lavender or purple (my favorite color), as it was commanded by my less than nice SIL & BIL.

    No one knew the difference.

  6. eve says:

LOL, I would have bought it too! Some of my favorite shirts are maternity ones- (10 months later) LOL

Ohhhh, I wish I could get away with wearing maternity jeans now! Soooo comfy!

  7. I would have bought it too! Size, labels..if I like it and it looks good, none of that matters!

  8. I still would have bought it. It would be nice to have something cute to wear if I get pregnant again.

  9. Trish says:

Don’t you hate that? That’s right up there with finding the perfect pair of shoes, but just needing the next size and they don’t have it! I swear people who manufacture women’s clothing and shoes love to torture us all.

    I think I have to agree;0)

LMAO!! In your defense, sometimes I have a hard time figuring out whether some of the new shirts are actual shirts or dresses. Is that bad? And yes, i shop in the juniors.

  15. Elizabeth says:

I frequently mistake maternity clothes for all the cute trendy stuff out there.

also, I love Ross Dress for Less.

  16. Bree says:

So does that mean I should stop wearing a pair of maternity shorts I haven’t put away yet? *cough* two years later? But they are SO comfortable….hahahaha

  17. OMG! That is so a sign. Someone is trying to tell you something, lol.

  18. Kekibird says:

Oh my yes…those maternity clothes sneak up on ya when you least expect it.

  19. Gena says:

    Oh come on Trisha!!!

  20. Maybe its a sign!? I kid, I Kid…I saw your other post. I admit I have 1 maternity shirt I still *occasionally* wear and there is no way to tell it is maternity, it is even super low cut. But, I would not of bought it either.
