I just spent the last 40 minutes ……
in the parking lot of Winn Dixie trying to catch a puppy. DH and I went to order Charlotte’s birthday cake and we come out and a puppy is following us. Like a little black lab type puppy, under a year old. Of course, I’m feeling TERRIBLE this dog is just following us to the car with its little ears and wagging tail.
I am NOT a dog person, but I am a pet person and its a busy area and road. So I take DH back to work and see the dog still standing there, just alone. I go back and buy him 2 McDonald’s biscuits and feed him. Now I am really feeling bad.
He is rolling and licking my hand. A guy pulls up in a car and said that someone dropped him off and he has been in the parking lot a week. Great. Tug at my heart more, thanks.
He has me call his wife, who can give me some advice where to take the puppy, because they rescue pets. He has 5 dogs and 4 cats already. She gives me some ideas on shelters so I was going to take the puppy in. But the little thing wouldn’t let me pick him up. I don’t know dogs well and they scare me. When you go pick them up and they jump or whatever, I jump too. Someone else tried to pick the dog up and we just couldn’t get him, even though he was sweet to lick and play, he was too jumpy to lift into the truck.
So a Winn Dixie employee asks me to go to the vet down the street and ask them to call the Animal Shelter. Now I am knee deep in the animal soap opera, so I head over. The vet is empty except for the lady surfing the net and she said, well, they need to call. I said, its just the employees trying to help, they cant call on their work time, I’m just trying to help out. She gets up, all annoyed I’m interrupting her internet time, she sighs and hands me a paper with a number on it. You call.
FINE. I take the number and call. The animal shelter tells me its the OTHER animal shelter and gives me a new number. I call that number. That number tells me they were wrong and its the other one. By this point, I’m between crying and pissed. The guy said that he will take care of it, also irritated.
Can someone please help this puppy!!!!!!!!!
I get home and then call back to the first animal shelter and they said they will send someone out.
Finally.
I hope he is ok.

i hope the puppys okay
im nto too fond of dogs/puppies or cats or any other kidn of animal, but i would hate to see them abandoned or hurt :s
aww, poor pup. I hope he gets a good home.
What sucks is the people in the business of caring for animals, did little to help. I know because I’am a vet tech and it has always amazed me in the 20 years I’ve worked with animals, how many people in this field really don’t belong here. Hopefully someone at the shelter will actually do their job!
people just don’t care about animals. its so so so sad!
Wow you worked hard for that puppy. It’s a shame how there are some people who would have seen that puppy and just kept driving. Good deed!
Awww, poor puppy! See, I’m a TOTAL dog person and would’ve totally put him in my car and drove away with him!! LOL. I hope someone came and helped him! you did a good deed!
That sucks… my sister is a vet and you would be amazed at the shitty things people do to their so called “pets”. You did your good deed for the day!
That’s so sad! I hope the puppy is okay. Like you, I’m not a dog person at all, but I still never want to see them hurt or abandon. I always wonder how people can just drop a pet off. We always get kittens dropped off around our house for one reason or another.
Sorry you were the only one who seemed to actually want to help. Those vet and shelter people sound like such a pain.
Some people are just so stinking rude. I hope they puppy finds a good home.
My MIL was at Walmart once and this little dog was under her car when she came out. It wouldn’t come out and was growling at her. She went in to ask for help and they were so rude not wanting to help. They said it belongs to a lady that comes to Walmart. They wouldn’t try to page her or anything. They just told her to run over the dog. She finally found the lady after they told her what she looked like.
Don’t you hate that? You try to do something good, and you can’t even feel good about it in the end because you’re so stinkin’ pissed off at other people.
I do hope the puppy is okay.
Awww that was awesome that you helped like that. I hope he will be ok. I see little puppies loose all the time and try to help when I can. You get a GOLD star!
Awww! That is terrible. I am a dog and cat person (and so is my husband). I think we wouldn’t have been able to help taking the dog in at least to keep it from getting run over. The last time we did that, we ended up having a house guest for almost 9 years. ;P
Oh my gosh! Poor puppy! I hope he’s ok too.
