Now you KNOW that I am an animal family.

To remind you, here are the animals I have shared with you on this blog over the years.

Mei Sei Mae (we adopted her from an abused animal rescue…she died from Kidney failure after a long life with us)

Paprika (she is a LOT fatter now but she would hate if I showed those pictures)

Sebastian (he got cancer from the Rabies vaccination and later died. He was our first adoption back in college. We really miss him still.)

Gutter Kitty (found on the street…we got him a furever home)

Little Kitty (our oldest cat..he is blind)

Gwennie (All grown up now! Gwennie was adopted after a trip to a pet store and someone outside was giving her away. She was the baby and after Napolean died she got very defensive.)

Buster (Charlotte brought this dog home from a bus stop….we found him a home)

Captain (Captain died from Distemper. We adopted him from the shelter and he had already contracted it. He lived with us for 6 weeks before he died.)

Jedi (Current dog. Some days…some days….)

Baby kitties Stella, Sumo, and Athena. All three kitties were adopted to Lynsey from MoscatoMom where they lead a fat cat life now.

and of course, Napoleon. He died from diabetes. I miss him every day.

After Napoleon died, we adopted Josie from the shelter. She is our runt and all the other cats beat her up. It’s been a year and they still won’t stop. I keep waiting for her to man up. Sigh.

Of course when we adopted Josie, we couldn’t leave Cocoa Puff behind.

And I am sure you remember Karma and Leia (foster dogs).

So if you ask me about pet food and pet treats…I can easily say I am an expert around here.

Which is good because if ask Jedi about his favorite treat flavor or even SAY the word treat, he does this:begginBasically he goes insane and I can’t even get a clear picture of him waiting for a treat he bounces so much!

Which is why we are taking the vote to you on a favorite treat flavor for your dogs!! Yes, you dog lovers, it’s time to tell Purina by vote what flavor YOUR dog prefers so the next Party Pack will have the top 3 choices in it. That way if you have an animal house like mine…you can save while you stock up!

How many animals do you have?

  1. Kimberly says

We live in the country, so we get several drop offs. It’s as if I have an invisible sign that broadcasts my love for animals. Our latest find was on the first day of VBS, when I found a littler of 5 Walker hounds and their mother. I took in the sickest one that couldn’t walk and was going back to pick the others up, but a neighbor had called the pound before I could get back from VBS. :-( We now have 5 dogs + the pup and 5 cats that each have their own issues that prevented them from finding homes. This total doesn’t include all the 40+ animals that I have found homes for over the past 10 years. For awhile there, every time I would have a miscarriage, it was like God was sending me a little furry baby to nurture because He knew I needed it and it needed me. Currently, we are trying to adopt a baby instead of more animals…Pray this one isn’t furry! Thank you for the post…you sound so much like me!

We just increased our own pack to 3.

Two cats, a purebreed Ragdoll, Geronimo, and a rescued Maine Coon, Gracie.

And we just added (Saturday!) our newest love, a 140lbs 22 month old Newfoundland, Nana. I bet Nana will have an opinion on which flavor is best. I’ll let ya know!

Right now four. Two dogs. Sharpie from a breeder. (!!!) and boxer from Animal Control. He’s our $20 dog – purebred and beautiful. People can’t believe we adopted him from a pound. Prior to him we had a boxer we picked up abused from the streets. We refused to give her back to the owner – told her to bring the cops and we’ll show them what she did to the dog. So we do believe in rescuing! So anyways, two dogs and two hermit crabs. I consider the hermit crabs rescues, because most people don’t care for them properly. 😉 we had cats at one point. Our male died from cancer from the vaccines too. Our female had a kidney problem and died. Sad. But they bring happiness when they are around.

I have never known anyone that lost a pet to vaccines before us. I am interested that you lost one too. Which vaccine? Was it a fibercarcoma ?

      • says

I don’t know which. I used to be a good cat owner and would bring them yearly for all his vaccines. He ended up with a mass on his neck exactly where the vaccines were given. The cancerous mass was removed once, but then he died less than a year later. I personally think from complications from the surgery. Like a blood clot, maybe. He was young when he passed away – like 8. And he was so freakin’ gorgeous and funny. I don’t believe in giving indoor cats vaccines anymore.

        • says

That is EXACTLY what happened to us. I do not vaccine my indoor cats now. We amputated his leg to try and save his life but he died a year later.

We were the same way when I was a kid. We had 4 dogs, 3 cats, a parrot, a rabbit, a ferret, 5 goldfish. Plus more I just can’t remember.

Who knew those three furbabies could bring so much love in to my home. Thanks for the “throw back” pics of my babies. Hard to remember them ever being that tiny. <3
