Ok, ladies, I cant go on the trip to New York, but they sent out the information and I am so jealous. IF you have no clue what I am talking about, MomDot won a Hot Blogger Calendar competition and our lovely visitors voted for us so much that we were one of the top 12 that won! Woo Hoo. Except it was just too expensive for me to fly and stay in New York, as it was somewhere in the range of $1000-$1400 for a 3 day trip and plane there from here…unless I was willing to stay in a hostel. In queens. So anyhoo…….
Today I got the info on the shoot. They have a really great photographer who works with Time and Businessweek, a makeup artist…a studio. I am so grateful that we will still be IN the calendar and the blog will get its exposure. And they are letting us submit our OWN pictures…to be along side all the pro pictures…but I imagine it looking something like this:
So here is my plea…………they want us to submit pictures as close to what they create during the shoot for our month. I need a photographer, willing to work for free, that would like to do a photoshoot with me for our submission. I can drive within a 4 hour radius of Mobile, Alabama. You will have to give permission to use the photo in the Calendar, but you will receive FULL credit for your work, it will be printed in over 2,000 calendars and alongside the work of the other professional photographer, so its great exposure and advertising. Plus, you get to hang out with me…and I’m pretty awesome, so its a total benefit.

I would check with the local colleges inyour area. A student would jump at the chance or maybe even a professor. It would be a great credit for their resume.

Hope you find someone ! I would love to do it for you, I am only 2.5 hrs away (New Orleans) but I’m no Pro. Would not take the chance for my first “pro shoot” LOL. I think you should post this on Craigslist in cities close to your area. Any new photographer looking to build their portfolio would just at this chance! You’ll just want to see any work they currently have though! Occasionally you’ll find a photographer trying to build a portfolio but they don’t know 100% of what they are doing!

Here’s my suggestion: Google some local photographers and makeup artists in your area. Pick the ones you like best that can give you that look you’re wanting. Tell them what you’re needing. With the exposure this would offer, I find it hard to believe you won’t have several people in your area who wouldn’t want to jump at this opportunity.

I would totally do it! But I think Orlando might be just outside your 4-hour radius. Perhaps you could make a family vacation out of it and then just happen to have some photos taken while you’re here?

Give a shout out if you find someone to do a photo shoot for you and then I’ll do whatever I can do help with touch ups and whatnot. I just art directed a photo shoot last Friday, so I promise I’m “the real thing”!!
oh i would so do this for you but NJ is a little further than 4 hours. and if you could fly to NJ well, then you wouldn’t need me anyway since NY is only another hour away. sorry i can’t help!
